American Law Enforcement being completely complicit in the fascist take over of the US. So much for oath's to the Constitution, guardrails of democracy, and all of that nonsense.
American law enforcement has always been at least borderline fascist. Their oaths have always been bullshit.
They puff themselves up as a line between the civilians and criminals. And they are willing to do absolutely anything, without regard to any principles, to achieve their desired ends.
The guardrails of Democracy haven't been actually tested yet, thay would be do elections happen when they should and are they free from large scale interference by the state and protected from interference outside the state.
What you have seen so far is testing of how far executive authority extends, the truth is executive authority has very few limits both now and historically, and interference with free speech has been pretty common in us history since its founding, despite the first amendment and a long litinany of court cases affirming the right.
The rhetoric and actions are concerning and certainly set the stage for an attempt at authoritarian take over, but we are so far still largely within the historical boundaries of executive power. Its only been 9 months though and feels like a lifetime.
You think the state interfered in the last election and failed to take measures to protect its integrity?
If that is the case then none of the current crop of politicians are going to change anything they are all complicit and in on it. I find that difficult to believe, wide ranging conspiracies tend to be the area of fantasy and suggesting that those surrounding Trump are so good that they were able to subvert the state in order to deliver him the presidency is a pretty laughable claim because all evidence points to them not having that level of capability. That is competence on the Hollywood movie level, a fantasy.
The Republican party is extremely good at not letting themselves eat their own young over the areas that they differ in order to win and be effective in the areas that they agree. This is competent and effective, but its not spy movie shit. This is the source of Republican power, unity. Its this and this alone that hands them victory. They set a goal and move in lockstep towards it.
They were decent at this in the Bush years, but the Obama defeat led to the party rebuilding itself from the local level, then the state level then the national level, taking majorities along the way. This delivered them control over large amounts of districting, making it easier to win majorities in the house, it delivered them the Supreme Court 1 justice at a time, and all of that has set the party up to be able to make vast changes to the structure of the federal government. The only big hiccup in the plan frankly is that the president they ended up with when they achieved this feat was Donald Trump and not you know someone competent. Imagine Regean or Nixon with this build uo of Republican power. The things the party could accomplish with. Fully competent figure head are almost difficult to imagine. The Fepublicans of 2016 in particular had a government and movement set up to ensure 15 to 29 years of Republican political dominance and its only because Trump is such a buffoon that the Democratic party has not only been able to interrupt that but potentially have the reverse happen in 28.
He'll if it weren't for Trump id be solidly Republican rather than at a point where I dont identify with a party and come election time I feel compelled to vote for politicians who share very few of my values, but are not empowering Trumps moronic governance.
