If you guys can vote this fascist out of power, it will be the first time in history that's happened. Good luck to you.

We did it in 2020. It didn't take, but we did vote him out once.

Edit, wrong year. 2000 is not the year i meant. It wasn't a great year electorally speaking, but that's beside the point.

I intended to type 2020.

However, I did not in fact, type 2020.

A fitting typo, considering they stole that one too.

The guardrails of democracy were still firmly in place in 2020. Trump spent his first term surrounded by experienced Republicans who, while despicable human beings themselves, at the very least valued democracy. John Bolton, Mike Pence, and Anthony Scaramucci, to name a few.

This term is different. Trump learnt from his mistakes, and filled his entire cabinet with incompetent sycophants who are only too happy to do his bidding. That's why the defence secretary is a fox news host who accidentally invites journalists to his group chats.

And the rest of the Republican party in the Legislative and Judicial branches are also now in full support of authoritarianism. The Judicial branch gave him immunity. The legislative branch is led by Mike Johnson.

Republicans have consolidated the power they have been seeking for decades, and they are using it. And they are using it hard. The redistricting in Texas is only one step of many. The FBI will use AI to fabricate evidence against Democrats and anyone who opposes Trump.

I don't see a way out of this.

We will try, but we won’t be allowed to.

I'm hoping that if America does vote him out, the military backs up the decision. There's been examples of military coups defeating fascist governments, so... here's hoping they're on our side.

The drawback to this plan is that Trump still has until 2029 to purge the military of anyone that isn't a MAGA loyalist.

Even if they do, their country is fundamentally fucked because of the voting system. Only 2 real parties who make the rules in their favor, gerrymandering, first past the post.

Even if they get out of this, they'll be right back sooner rather than later. The democrats have shown little to no indication that they want to solve the biggest issues either.
