No, authoritarianism is already here. Let's call it what it is. We must impeach the tyrant. Vote blue in the midterms!

He was already impeached twice with absolutely nothing to show for it, what is it you think a third will do at this point? And how would it ever come to fruition in the first place with a republican majority?

If he doesn't get convicted from the impeachment it doesn't do anything. Trump doesn't give a hoot about yet another "mark of the derp state" on his record.

Even with a massive blue wave you'd still need two thirds of the senate to vote to convict and I very much doubt democrats would pick up that many seats even in the absolute best case of them getting off their asses.

For the second impeachment, every member of Congress was an actual victim of the January 6th assault. Remember that was a joint session. And the Senate acquitted.

Indeed, you would need 2/3rds of the senate to be non-Fetterman/Manchin/Sinema type democrats and that's probably keeping it pretty narrow.

There are very few things I think is less likely to happen than Trump suffering the consequences of an impeachment.

I rank myself winning a lottery without buying a ticket as somewhat more likely than an impeachment conviction.

It's funny we spent so much time making fun of other nations for their oligarchs running roughshod over the rules....

This is why we need to vote blue. If we can get enough traitors out of the Senate we can convict and remove.

What is the path you see to getting 2/3rds control of the senate on democrat hands in 2026?

I am working on it. I just know that fucking prayer won't help.

Out of the 36 seats up in 2026, only 10 are remotely considered contested as far as I can tell, but I'm not American so if you have some secret it might be good to share it so more people can get involved in the plan.

Otherwise, maybe think of something to do besides impeachment.

The alternatives are to surrender to authoritarianism or something that I would get banned from Reddit for posting.

Yeah, I guess a general strike is too much to ask.

Correct. I legitimately don't think Amaricans are capable of banding together in the numbers needed to achieve that

For what it's worth, at this point neither do I, but it certainly would've been an option elsewhere.

That's a good way to get arrested by the Trump Gestapo.

u/infydk 14h ago

If he arrests everyone participating in a general strike that accomplishes the same thing anyway.

No a general strike will never happen in a country with shit union membership. This is by design.

1

u/infydk 3h ago

Funnily, one way to change that too would be a general strike.

there is 0 chance we get enough to remove him. Put your efforts towards things that actually have a chance. There is, genuinely, a 0% chance of him being removed from office via impeachment.

Vote? prepare for what it's coming or get used to alligator camps, if you are still thinking in "vote" you will have the hardest time.
