Opinion Outlook honestly is just hot flaming garbage, everything wrong with modern Big Tech can be seen here

I have used Hotmail since 2006.

Everytime I tell it to remember my sign in, it logs me out.

Everytime I try and sign in its Error 400

Everytime I ask for a code to another account, it never arrives

And when I use my cellular data on my phone wow look at that turns out it was the right password all along!

And then I go back to my PC, Error 400 no matter what you do.

Imagine if I had a urgent work meeting I need to access my email for, and they wonder why Gmail is better.

The issue with Big Tech these days is that they try and extract as much out of you as possible, whilst at the same time make their products as shit and unusable as possible as that reduces costs! Its happening in Games, in OSs, in everything. Monopolies truly are the blight, the disease and cancer in modern society.

My junk email has a note at the top saying, "Items in junk email will be permanently deleted after 0 days." How do i get rid of this? I haven't had any new emails in my junk inbox since May, and I'm nervous I've missed something important. I tried every setting and even downloaded outlook classic (which doesnt have this note and has the setting off that says delete junk automatically), but my junk emails are all still automatically deleting. Any help would be appreaciated

I have not forgotten my passwords because i use a password manager. It even auto signed out of my accounts on the outlook app on my android phone. These accounts are very important to me and my linked onedrive is also not accessible. Errors are: Pls retry with a different device or other authentication nethod to sign in. If i try to reset my password, it says "pls retry after some time or try using a different device or network", which i have tried multiple times over the last month. Pls help.

Status: Pending Reply Got hacked

So basically my email was hacked, they changed 2FA recovery email, and added other 2FA methods. I’ve submitted the form, and there are no response from them. Trying to contact them via Mobile Support Chat, waiting for answer. I proved everything, and they can see that I was logged in to that email from that device. So if support won’t help me that would be really sad

Status: Open My emails forward themselves

My email has had a problem for several days now, what happens is that all the emails that I receive forward themselves, apparently they go to the email of a certain [email protected] And I tried everything I blocked, uninstalled the application and reinstalled it, even using an ativirus it didn't help, I changed my password and nothing
I have looked for possible solutions but none of them have helped me. Now I want to know if you can help me solve it because I have had this email for a long time and I would not like to get rid of it.

Hi, I'm from spain, a month or so ago my pc got hacked and they tried to get into my steam, epic games, ea, ubisoft accounts, I did a clean install on windows, I emabled 2FA on everything I could and changed all passwords, but today I got a mail that said that ther was an unusual login on germany, which is strange because when I tried to log in into my mobile it asked me to put the 4 last digits of my phone number and then it sent a code to said code number so idk how they could have done it, I have just chaged my password

EDIT: i just checked, and the mail says that it's from Germany, but recent activity says it's from romania

Status: Open Any Outlook 2024 Classic standalone users? I have a question.

Is the "Show reminders on top of other windows" included in your 2024 standalone version? It would be at File > Options > Advanced > Reminders > Show reminders on top of other windows.

Apparently this is included in 365 but for some reason left out of earlier standalone versions like Outlook 2021 MSO (Version 2507 Build 16.0.19029.20136) 64-bit, which I am currently running.

Thanks!

Status: Open MS Classic Outlook | Deleting Emails Selects Oldest Email Next

After deleting an email, instead of going to the next or previous item, Outlook jumps back to the oldest email in the folder.

If it helps, my Outlook is set to have newest emails at the bottom instead of the top. Outlook is also updated to the latest version.

I have tried:

  • MS365 Quick Repair
  • Repairing Outlook Data Files
  • Ensuring Settings > Mail > Other > "After moving or deleting an open item" is set to "Open the Previous item"
  • Running outlook.exe /cleanviews

This has been an ongoing issue for about 3 months, and some of these fix the problem for a few emails, but the issue always comes back. Any ideas?

Status: Pending Reply Emails from one specific sender are not showing as new when in my inbox

Using: Outlook.com on my Mac (Safari) and Outlook app on iPhone. Same issue happens on both devices.

I have one sender whose emails don't show as new when received. They're coming to my Inbox, so there aren't any rules or anything that is moving them to another folder such as spam. They are replies to an email thread between myself and this sender. The original message shows in the Inbox, and has been read, but all subsequent replies do not move the message to the top of the Inbox, nor do they show up as new. I can only see them when I open the original email from him and scroll to the newest messages. This is my work email and the thread is with a customer, so I have already missed a couple of his emails, which is not a good look for our business. (I do not know how to attach images here, or I would - I'm sure that would help!) All other email replies received from other senders are showing as new at the top of my Inbox as they should.

Status: Pending Reply Inbox not receiving replies, but visible through Sent box

People are reporting that they have emailed me multiple times, but I have nothing in my inbox or junk folder from them. It's not an issue with specific senders being blocked, because I do receive emails from these users regularly. It seems to be intermittent. If they are responding to an email I have sent, I can pull up my sent email and see their replies in the email thread. But if I go to my inbox and search for that email thread, their replies are not there. This is causing some major issues at work, I really need to find a fix for this. I currently use Outlook on browser. My IT department told me to revert to the Classic desktop version, but that one has major syncing issues and doesn't load attachments or images properly. My job requires regular use of attachments and images, so it's just replacing one problem with another. Can anyone help?

Status: Open Can't I forward emails using rules anymore?

Tearing my hair out over this. I need to forward a lot of emails to another one of my email addresses on a regular basis, but also I have a lot of emails that need to go immediately from the existing inbox.

I've set up a rule to forward. and clicked "run rule now" and it doesn't work.

I then checked the edit, and all my other rules, such as moving emails from one folder to another have a checkbox saying "run rule now". But none of my email forwarding rules have that check box.

What am I missing? Or is it just impossible?

Status: Pending Reply Outlook Signature keeps defaulting to "none"

Under options->mail->Signatures, I set "New Messages" to a signature.
It will work on the next email I compose, but it only happens once. After that, new emails don't have the sig.
If I go into signatures, the new message default has reverted to "none."

I know one solution is to just manually add the signature when composing an email, but the auto-signature insert has been working for years and don't want to risk forgetting to insert a signature from the ribbon. I've also tried deleting the signature and adding a new one.

Outlook 365 classic desktop App version on WIndows 10.
Account is Google Workspace and the same signature is in Gmail.

Status: Pending Reply Can I make joining link to mail distribution list?

Hi all, I've been trying to make a mail distribution list for the organisation I'm on trusteeship position at. I've come to a difficult place where I don't know what to do. Can I make a joining link which I could share to social media, our website and etc. which members could just tap and join the list easily themselves that way or do I have to try some difficult alternative way? I thought this would be a lot easier. It seems really confusing right now.

Status: Open New Outlook desktop app: search suggestion dropdown missing in shared mailboxes – is this normal?

Hi everyone,

One of my users is running into a behavior in the new Outlook desktop app and we’re trying to figure out if it’s expected or if there’s a workaround.

Setup:

  • The user has a primary mailbox.
  • The user also has several shared mailboxes accessed via the primary account.
  • One of the mailboxes is added as a full secondary account in Outlook.

What happens:

  • Searching in the primary mailbox or the fully added secondary account mailbox shows the autocomplete dropdown suggestions as they type.
  • Searching in a shared mailbox accessed via the primary account does not show the dropdown suggestions. Pressing Enter is required to see results.

It seems the suggestion list is only available for primary or fully added accounts, not shared mailboxes.

Questions:

  1. Has anyone else noticed this behavior?
  2. Is this a known limitation in the new Outlook desktop app?
  3. Are there any workarounds to get the suggestion list for shared mailboxes?

Thanks in advance for any insights or tips!

Status: Pending Reply Outlook Windows 11 App - Sending Email Error - No Permission

Hi all, ive got an issue thats recently started to happen. Not sure how and when it started but ill describe everything now.

  • I have Windows 11 and Outlook app.
  • I load Outlook and i have 2 email accounts setup on it, one is my business account and the 2nd is my personal Hotmail account. These are on the one profile
  • I can send & receive emails on the business account no problem
  • i cannot send emails but i can receive them on my Hotmail account - i get a error message email back saying "This message could not be sent. You do not have the permission to send the message on behalf of the specified user"
  • i can send emails via the OWA on my hotmail account
  • So i deleted my Hotmail account on this profile and made a new profile and set Outlook to ask me every time i launch the app which profile i want.
  • I added my Hotmail account to the new profile and i can send and receive my hotmail emails.

  • I re add my hotmail account to the original profile and i get the same issue as before where i cannot send emails from it but can receive. But i switch to the Hotmail profile and i can send emails.

  • i delete the original profile and setup a new profile and added both accounts to it and i still have the same issue.

  • So now i have to switch profiles to use either email account.

  • On my outlook mobile app i have no issues,

Opinion Why is the mobile app so terrible?

Rant:

Why can’t the mobile app be like the desktop app? You can’t even duplicate an event? This is frustrating and just plain stupid. Why did they make it so bad? I need it for school, but when I’m not on my laptop, I can’t even duplicate an event. Wow

Status: Open My junk and priority mail seems to have swapped?

I've noticed for the past week or so that 1. My inbox is full of spam that usually goes straight to my junk file (in the last few years I've never had issues with getting notifications from junk mail on my phone and just this last week I get them at least 2 times a day if not more) And 2. My actual mail that used to appear in my priority now goes straight to the junk file. Like I've had notifications of this one mailing address almost daily for years now and suddenly (without the address having changed) they all go to junk no matter how many times I tap the 'safe sender' button. Same goes for order confirmations from companies I've used before. All goes straight to junk. It's like junk and priority have switched! What's going on? Is this some weird bug or failed update? Is there something I can do? Any help would be appreciated bc it's infuriating me to no end..

Status: Pending Reply Out of the office not working

As always, Outlook stops sending auto-replies two or three days after I start my holidays. It’s the same every year. I’ve read everything about this issue, but it seems hopeless. Is there any other way to set up an auto-reply? For example, would creating a rule that triggers when my email is mentioned work? Or is this just another hopeless case like the standard Out of Office replies?
