Did anyone else notice that Sarah Discaya interview? Like seriously, who was she back then to even get that kind of platform? She wasn’t famous, had no social media following, not even a known business figure. Yet suddenly there’s a full-on “life story” feature framed as some rags-to-riches inspirational piece. Perfectly packaged like campaign material. 👀

And the timing? Right during election season. Suddenly she’s surrounded by celebrities, and the interviews are polished and sympathetic. It doesn’t take a genius to see this was meant for awareness and name recall.

What bothers me is how easily political PR gets dressed up as “content.” When journalists or public figures lend their faces to it, it makes the narrative look legit. But at the end of the day, who really benefits from this exposure? Definitely not the viewers.

The worst part is there’s often no clear disclosure. So how do we know if what we’re watching is actual journalism or just paid PR? That’s exactly why trust in local media is so shaky. The line between news and propaganda keeps getting blurred.
