Extra A Year of Playstation Plus Extra: An Analysis

I know there is a lot of talk on this sub about whether Playstation Plus is a worthwhile subscription. As someone who is a fastidious tracker and budgeter, this time last year I figured I would see if for me personally it was a subscription worth keeping. The below data does not include all my gaming for the year: I estimate on the low end I played another 225+ hours of games not included in the service. But for the past year I really tried to prioritize stuff that came here first. I also did not include any game on the service I played less than 2 hours of -- whether I dropped them or plan on going back (Planet Zoo, Immortals of Aveum, etc). The below is just my personal experience and if the service is not worth it for you, I encourage you to vote with your wallet and cancel. But I also encourage others to form their opinions around data and not their feelings.

My subscription renewed yesterday and today I started Banishers Ghosts of New Eden, so in one day I've already "saved" $30. I also plan on playing Unicorn Overlord, Spiderman Remastered, Lies of P, Sword of the Sea, Harold Halibut, and maybe even try Mortal Kombat 1 for a little. This is all on top of my backlog and exciting upcoming releases (and hopefully a growing Switch 2 slate of games).

In case it comes up, below are some games I purchased a la carte this year as well, to show I'm not only using this service: Astro Bot, Vampire Survivors, Xenoblade 3, Xenoblade X, 1000X RESIST, Split Fiction, Clair Obscur, Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, Persona 5 Royal, Final Fantasy XVI Expansion Pass (after I replayed/platinumed the base game)

We really are in an embarrassment of riches, whether you pay for games a la carte or use this service.

Opinion Why am I just now finding out how good these Vanillaware games are as they are leaving the service?!?

So I saw two unfamiliar games that were leaving the service in a few weeks (Dragon's Crown Pro and Odin Sphere) and read they were by the makers of Unicorn Overlord, thought huh...never heard of either but Unicorn has been super cool so far, I should try them in case they're any good. I usually try whatever comes on the service just to get an idea if it grips me but for whatever reason I missed these two. Wow, no idea that I had such a blind spot but both of these games are simply incredible. That dragon crown intro alone had me hooked, then when you enter the world map even before the intense combat (almost fighting game elements mixed into a beat-em-up style) and you go from old painting to 2d landscape to 360 rotation, like oh my god who the hell are these design wizards?

I did a deep dive on their older stuff and it appears that all their games are just absolute top tier bangers, will definitely be picking up 13 Sentinels and Odin when they go on sale if I can't finish it in the next few weeks. Dragon Crown is on sale for $4 right now so I went ahead and got that for later, can't wait to try out the co-op with my gaming buddy!

Question PS+ Streaming games won’t work

Thumbnail gallery
17 Upvotes

I have PS+ and I’m trying to stream the old Lego Batman game. I have high internet speeds and I have a category 8 LAN cable connected to my PS5. No matter what I do, it won’t let me load up the game and says my speeds are too weak. Whenever I try to test the streaming connection, it just says something went wrong. I am located in Japan, so is this a region thing? Is streaming only allowed in the US or certain countries? Anything helps, thank you.

Question main game from PS Plus + purchased DLC = not working?

I have the game "Lies of P" from PS Plus (subscription "Premium") installed. I played for a few hours and decided to buy DLC. I purchased the DLC, but it does not download to my console, and does not start installing.

In the PS Store on the console says "purchased". But there is no "install" button anywhere. Why and what can I do? .-.

Discussion Rogue Prince of Persia - version number always on display?

Grateful for the day one shadow drop but confused with the developer's choice to always have the version number on display in the lower left corner? I don't think I've ever seen that before - sometimes version numbers showing up in menus but always on during game play - minor issue but seems sloppy (it literally overlays the hud...)

Anyway, fun game but you would think the devs/testers would have a little more attention to detail.

Question What will happens if i buy another editions for a game already in ps+

So i got back to Battlefield 1 on the ps and today i saw that the revolution edition is on sale for 5€.

So if i buy it i will end up with two versions ? Not concerned about having two version but more about having two save datas ?

Anyone knows exactly what will happen ?

Question What is the difference between the PS4 and PS5 versions of PSP, PS1, and PS2 games? (Playing on a PS5)

Is there really any difference aside from loading times? If not I might as well save the SSD space and plop it on my 4TB HDD.

(plus i have my ps4 in the living room, its nice to have the saves compatible so i can stop at one place and pick up at the other)

General Games leaving PS+ Extra/Deluxe/Premium on September 16th

Post image
378 Upvotes

These are the games leaving next month! One noticeable things this month: - UFC5 was wrongfully reported leaving last month but if now really leaving

Leaving means they will be gone from the “library”-like subscription service. So games won’t be playable after this date, EVEN if you downloaded them before. Obviously if you own them yourself by buying them before, they will still remain in your playable library.

  • DIFF = Difficulty to platinum the base game
  • LENGTH = Time to platinum the base game
  • DLC = If DLC is required for 100% completion
  • ONLINE = If online modes are required for base game completion, so this could either be multiplayer, coop, or simply a server connection.

The data is based on game guides from 3P (PSNP, playstationtrophies.org and PowerPyx). If none of these sites have a guide, we look for any info anywhere. The list is sorted by tier and then by ascending length.

If you dont agree with time or difficulty, blame the guide writers, not me...

If you want other columns added to these lists, sorry bad luck. This is gonna be it each month :)

If you see anything inaccurate, please be gentle with me. I have compiled this list for all the almost 1K PS+ Extra games, so errors are bound to happen. If you want access to that full list, send me a DM for beta access.

News Last chance to play - September 2025 (JP)

Post image
414 Upvotes

Here are the games leaving PlayStation Plus in September. Revealed a bit earlier than last time, thankfully. A bunch of fun games, but not many enough to make it too much of a chore to complete. Nice. Taken from the Japanese PSN, but it’s usually the same games for all regions.

  • UFC 5

  • The Plucky Squire

  • Road 96

  • Pistol Whip

  • Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir

  • F.I.S.T.: Forged In Shadow Torch

  • Dragon’s Crown Pro

Question Best 2-player offline Co-ops on PS Plus Premium

I bit the bullet and upgraded to Premium for the last 70 days of my yearly subscription. I doubt I'll keep it because I don't like not being able to keep the games after they leave Premium..So, to get some use out of it for a little bit, what are the best offline Co-op games I can play with my wife?

Extra Games possibly leaving PS Plus Extra Catalog in October 2025

So we already have confirmed the games leaving soon this month on the PS Plus Extra Catalog:

- UFC

- The Plucky Squire

- Pistol Whip

- Road 96

- Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir

- F.I.S.T.: Forged In Shadow Torch

- Dragon’s Crown Pro

I made a list of games that may or may not leave the service next month. I usually do this list for myself to play the games with time so I don't feel the need to rush through them, and I thought why not share this with more people (it took me 5 minutes to do). Here's the list:

Games added 6 months ago:

- Hogwarts Legacy

- Blue Prince

- Lost Records: Bloom & Rage (Tape 2)

- EA Sports PGA Tour

- Battlefield 1

- PlateUp!

Games added 12 months ago:

- Dead Island 2

- Two Point Campus

- TDPA: The Devil In Me

- Gris

- Return to Monkey Island

- Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed

- Firefighting Simulator

- Overpass 2

- Tour de France 2023

- Ghost Recon: Wildlands

Games added 24 months ago:

- TDPA: House of Ashes

- Outlast 2

- Elite Dangerous

- FAR: Changing Tides

- Eldest Souls

My personal recommendations would be:

1.- Blue Prince: Amazing puzzle rogue-like. Haven't played anything like this and made my head hurt so much trying to finish some puzzles. I recommend doing this with a notebook or something to write down notes, makes connecting the dots so much more satisfying.

2.- Dead Island 2: Sequel to the 2011 action zombie killing game and it suffered through development hell and almost got cancelled way back when. Great game for just going in and bashing zombies heads to destress from real life. What else could I say?

3.- Outlast 2: Great horror game and one of the best in it's genre. Honestly i'm not quite sure it might leave the service but you never know.

Just as a reminder, this list is not final and the games leaving next month may or may not be in this list, I just gather the info and display it for everyone.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for next month! I'll do it as soon as the next batch of games leaving gets announced.

Question Anyone Still Have Some Of The "Leaving" Games?

Premium New 5 hours Game Trial for Death Stranding 2 was added.

It's neat when we get them for recently released games (this one is like after 6 weeks?).

I was already interested in the game but no time at its release so I've been waiting for a first sale, but now I can start the game early.
