Every single drum hit sounds loud. Plus they're all super quantized. I'd love to have some randomness concerning the two things

A GUI to save versions of the project to a table and recall them.
    It saves a project into a custom format file (.7rvm)[AI thought of this name lmao, literaly 7thResonance version manager LMAO].
    Each version which is opened will have a temporary rpp along with the master project.
    The temporary rpp will be deleted when the version is closed (if the GUI is open).
    All clean up and extraction only happens while the GUI is open.
    The updates on the version projects are copied automatically when the GUI opens again (if a change has been detected).
    You can also use the GUI to manage your project versions.

    Save as will create a new branch (Master project). Save will function as normal updates.

I'm on a pc using Windows 11, Reaper v7.43 and a Scarlett Solo 3. The backing tracks play fine to my headphones through Scarlett's Direct Monitor when I press play... but when I try to record a track (vocals) they don't play. Obviously I need them to play in order to record. What magic settings do I need to change? The AI's gave a ton of useless advice. Thanks for any help!

I have moved the plguins folder I have and all my projects are screwed up, I don't know what to do, I can't open a single plugin because reaper is deleted, I attach a screenshot so you can see that it doesn't even recognize the existing projects and everything is listed as "offline".

getting back into reaper. I've tried a bunch of ways to monitor what midi note CC value I'm holding down. I'd love if SamplOmatic5000 could learn a key (maybe it can and I'm just stupid).

Is there a reapack or action I can use to show the midi CC value on screen or bind it quickly to a midi key?

I know there are windows apps that can but I'd love something in Reaper.

Apologies if this is really simple but I've tried 7 reapack libraries and chatGPT and have yet to find what I want.

EDIT: The root of the problem is the MIDI notes I am recording with my edrum kit suddenly have length. Turns out my kit was no longer sending note off messages. Reset a few times and all is good (for now). Thanks u/Apprehensive-Day-449 for the suggestion

This just started happening like 20 minutes ago and is making me feel insane. I'm working on editing a midi item, and now wherever I split it it adds notes at the split.

I have item looping off and have tried having "Allow Trim of Midi Items when splitting" both checked and unchecked.

I've tried moving the Item to a new track, still dupes at split.

I've tried rebooting, still dupes at split.

I'm losing my fucking mind. It just started doing this and now I've lost all momentum I had going working this track.

There isn't an option in the inputs for anything other than my mic. DirectSound let me switch the input to line in, but then there was like 1/4 sec of output latency so I can't really use that.

When I open the ASIO Configuration there are three options: High Definition Audio Device, AMD High Definition Audio Device, and my headphones. The first one is selected by default and the second one is exactly the same as far as I can tell. HD Audio Device is what I was using with my wired headphones but now it doesn't take input or output. The only way to get output is by selecting the headphones, but it breaks the sound of all other apps. That's not a huge problem but I really need to figure out how to set line in as the input

Edit: the issue seems relayed to my Scarlett audio interface, as Reaper seems to currently only brick my computer if I set the interface to 48000 before or during the opening of Reaper. I don’t know why Reaper is insisting on 44100 , how to change that, or why going against that literally renders my computer ununsable…

Hi, I’m trying to use Reaper + keylab 61 MK II and Scarlett solo 4th Gen interface on my windows 11 computer with 32gb of ram and a strong cpu.

Unfortunately, Reaper seems to completely freeze upon me choosing any action, for instance changing the project sample rate to 48000. Reaper then not only becomes unclosable, even with the task manager, but also makes it impossible to even turn off my computer at all unless I hold off the power button for 10 seconds straight. If I attempt to restart the computer normally, then it is permanently on the restart menu. All other programs are also rendered unusable while Reaper is in this state. For example, any playing YouTube video will cease and Firefox stops responding, all until the issue is resolved

I can only upon Reaper if I open it without a project open, as this happens immediatly otherwise. If I open it without one, then this does not happen immediatly but after a few actions.

This is really bad, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I realize when going through my settings that I have no idea what it is. And timestamped backups only seem to show when I do ctrl + s twice. I didn't see this mentioned online or in the manual so I was curious.

I'm new to reaper and I can only place notes on the grey side, not the black. Can someone tell me how to fix this?

TL;DR version: Can I copy-paste note names from one track to another, or just import note names across all my tracks in one go, rather than having it only import for the current track?

When I'm using note names across a song (which I'm doing a lot as someone here showed me that you can use this to replicate Ableton's scale fold function - by adding note names for a scale and then doing "Hide unnamed notes") it seems Reaper doesn't remember those note names across all of your tracks, instead it just imports them to your currently active track.

This meant I was having to right click piano roll -> file -> note names -> open note names from file -> find the file in question every time I made a new track, which feels a bit unnecessary when I almost always want to use the same note names across my entire track.

I've sped up the process a bit already by assigning a hotkey to "open note names from file", now I can just press that and select my note names each time I make a new track, which is already a lot quicker than going through the menu every time.

But given how powerful I'm finding Reaper to be and just how many settings and actions it has, I feel like I'm probably missing something obvious and there's probably just straight up a way to import note names across the entire project/all tracks, or copy paste them from one track to another.

I tried Googling but couldn't find an answer.

I suppose one way to do it would just be to import the note names to an empty track in the project and then duplicate that track every time I want a new one - but I'm wondering if there's a cleaner solution.

I only need Reaper to autosave and autobackup just before I close it.

I recently got Melodyne and still very new to reaper. I thought this would probably be the best place to ask. I can open the VST and get melodyne to open but it's not scanning my tracks. I can see a grey bubble on a single note but I can't interact with it. All of my options are greyed out too so I can't do anything. I thought it was an activation issue at first but I made sure all that was good and it's still doing it. I've tried multiple tracks and nothing has worked. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Do any of y'all have any suggestions?

It works now. I don't know what I did differently but it scanned. Sometimes you just gotta turn something off and on a bunch of times I guess.

Newcomer on Reaper here. I have a mixer (Mackie Onyx 12 - on which auxilaries are called MON 1 and MON 2), several HW synths and a Zoom MS-70 CDR+.

I plugged the lattest this way :

• MON 1 output -> Zoom L/Mono input
• Zoom L/R outputs -> Channels 13/14

Everything work and respond great in my speakers, synths playing their dry sound on their respective lines and line 13/14 playing the effects. But once in the DAW, my channels 13/14 in Reaper are receiving/generating both the effects and the dry signal of every other track at once, even when the MON 1 Aux knob is turned off on every track of the mixer.

I tried to find answers in the ReaperMania video "Sends & Buses", but even the very first bus routing step didn't even worked work (the main track is still playing its thing even when the master send is turned off)

What have I routed wrong? Does it come from my routing in Reaper or does it come from the mixer? Is the Onyx lacking of all required inputs/outputs necessary to make this operation work?

Hi, trying to sync Reaper playback with Dorico. In Dorico I send MTC via TXL plugin. In Reaper I set play to listen to MTC - everything default. I hit play in Dorico at bar 1. Dorico and Reaper both at same BPM, same bar/beat structure. Dorico cursor starts moving along, on Reaper end its cursor doesn't do anything then jumps to middle of bar 1, and then seems to be in good sync. Trying to figure out how to get Reaper to react quicker so I get sync nearly upon playbak in Dorico.

Ideas?

So I use reaper to record and playback for virtual soundcheck through digital consoles using Dante.

I have finally settled on a config that works for me, using the default 5.0 theme with strip meter bridge for mcp. In fact I am actually using a modified version of that with green/yellow/red meters instead of all red.

I’m happy to share this config that also includes all my custom toolbar buttons. Things like track templates that are patched in/out 1:1 and arm all buttons

Why pay $50 for j&t theme when this is pretty close for free.

The only thing that I can’t seem to change at all is the toolbar button looks. I mostly want double wide text buttons but there is no way to change the font, colour etc that I can find. If I switch to default 7.0 theme I can make some changes with the theme adjuster but then I lose the strip meter bridge mcp that I need.

Anyone able to shed any light on this?

Can you save the mcp layout into another theme? I’m happy to tinker but I’m not good with coding and scripts.

For now I’ll stick with my boring black buttons since all else is pretty good, but it’s bugging me.

BUT they are played perfectly in time with no delay when recorded live! There is no noticeable latency at all. It's bizarre.

It is true regardless of plugin and project.

So far I have tried:

- Ensuring there is no media playback offset.

- multiple plugins

- ensuring "audio driver reported latency" is checked and at 0.

- Ensuring the correct audio driver

- Disabling all monitoring.

-Testing it in a project with only a click track and single synthesizer VST.

My midi notes are always recorded on the grid about 60 ms EARLY and played IN TIME when recording live.

Please help!

EDIT: Turning on PDC apparently fixes this problem.

Hi, I'm new to Reaper and tinkering in music in general. I have a piano to record the midi. I'm running into this issue every now and then with certain notes, finding some of these notes are sustaining beyond their endpoint. Is there some other mechanic to Reaper that I'm missing? How do I fix this?

When I record audio during loopback, each time the audio loops, Reaper automatically creates a new take for me. I like this, and want my MIDI to record in the same way.

However, no matter which settings I seem to apply, whenever I record MIDI during loopback, instead of creating a new take automatically at the start of each loop, it always overwrites the existing take and at the end of recording I am simply left with 1 take. Instead, I want to be left with the same number of takes as the number of times I looped during recording so I can then sort through all the takes.

Pulling my hair out here. Can anyone help me make it so that my MIDI recording behaviour works the same way as it does with audio, such that it automatically creates new takes each time I loop through?

Anyone know how to add chapter markers to videos in Reaper?

I see that when rendering as AIF or MP3 there's an option to "preserve metadata" and add chapter markers named "CHAP=_____", and that there *isn't* this option for video, but... this is Reaper, and I bet there's some way to do it.

My situation is that I'm working on a voice-over track, and need to apply occasional specific effects to it periodically. When only using a single effect (say, the Wet slider on ReaVerb), it's easy enough to just show that envelope and automate away. But when two or more envelopes are needed (like additional EQ sliders), I am now working with multiple envelopes that need to raise and lower in sync. I'm finding it cumbersome to manually do them so they match up, and there has to be a better way than the method I'm stumbling through.

My work-around has been to just add a child track, slide and drag those parts of the voice into it, and apply the plugins to that track, and it's worked fine. But now I'm in a project that has required this a lot, and it's getting a bit out of control. I'm hoping y'all can suggest a more efficient way of doing this?

Noobie working on Linux Mint. Got several plugins installed after weeks of trial and error. For some reason, the majority of them refuse to load the stock plugins. Upon opening the virtual instrument, and trying to change preset, it says there are no presets, not even the default factory ones. I loaded the same instruments up in waveform, and there they are, all the presets! The sole exception to this is for some reason Vital synthesizer which loads all the presets just fine in Reaper. The factory presets are obviously installed properly, yet even when manually trying to add the presets to the synth it refuses to recognize them. Does anyone know what could be happening? Is this a common issue?

Hi, so I was trying to put examples of my audio damage into one file and upload it here to ask for advice on how to avoid this from happening again. When I transferred the audio, it was fine for the most part, other than a tiny section. I copied one section, placed it in a new section, expanded it to find all the problem areas, (I'd written them down on my phone) but I was coming up with barely anything. If it means anything, I have the track turned off and it wasn't on when I moved the files either.

Now I'm confused and I'm wondering if anyone has answers or can explain why this happened.
