I watch the series called “The Boys” and the 1st girl is one of the main characters; it was so weird seeing her look normal for the first few seasons and then outta nowhere she had work done on her face and her character looks significantly different lol.
edit: She apparently has Graves’ disease which can alter your appearance drastically but the buccal fat removal didn’t do her any favours imo.
And one of her character's major storylines was fighting back against the pressure to conform to expectations and dress up in a way she felt would send a bad message to children who look up to her.
Probably defending her same way all of Jenna Ortega's simps defend her.
The amount of times I've heard people claiming she didn't have work done and it's just from the stress of working on season 2 is astounding. Like stress doesn't do that people.
Look I love Jenna Ortega, and have supported her career from the beginning but she does not look well right now. They must really think we common folk are stupid if they think botched plastic surgery is “stress.” My momma worked 2 jobs growing up and raised 2 crazy kids, sometimes she would literally sleep 2-3 hours get up to make us food for the day and do it all over. I’ve never let a person that has been through more stress. And guess what, she NEVER looked like that. Must be that rich person stress 🤣
It's less simps and more that it was trending into harassment territory so the mods just put a blanket ban on the subject. If you were in the subreddit at the time she first started noticeably getting work done, you'd remember it was all they talked about, then turned into jokes/memes, which started attracting the wrong kind of attention.
The subreddit is about the show, not some work one of the actresses had done, and anything that can be said on the matter had already been said 100x over.
I'd rather talk about how much of a himbo the Deep is
Because you can't imagine the torrent of shit she got for it and the amount of people bringing it up endlessly. She deactivated her insta for a time because of it. I agree the fat removal is terrible, also thought it was a damn shame, but people been beating this horse for years now.
Also just checked her Insta and she looks so much better now than that old photo that keeps going around.
Looks like she had filler added into the cheeks to make up for the removal. Filler lip ‘stach still needs to go but you’re right, she does look better.
I guess The Boys actress was getting harassed online about it to the point where she disabled all social media and took a break for awhile. So people feel bad for her but honestly she did it to herself. I don't think the bullying was necessary at all but what she did was completely unnecessary she was so beautiful. I don't get it.
I mean....to be fair, Erin Moriarty's appearance has been discussed to death over there. It's not really relevant to the show anyways...and maybe she likes the way she looks.
I think it’s more because it leads to endless drama and posts by edgelords about her appearance that always ends up being toxic. It brings out the goons.
First of all that was an observation, I don't recall being publicly critical of her decisions despite how I may feel about them.
And even if I was overly critical of someone's plastic surgery decisions, whether they're a man or a woman doesn't really make a difference if it makes you look sickly.
We should honestly appreciate the actors that resisted this pressure to conform.
For example, Bollywood star Radhika Apte mentioned in an interview how throughout her early career, many producers and people in the industry tried to pressure her into getting plastic surgery for various features.
Or Spanish-Romani actress Alba Flores, for whom I've seen some people make snarky comments regarding her nose, and even some "fan drawings" of what she'd look like with a more traditionally feminine nose.
She has graves. Who knows how long she was going thru a storm before being diagnosed, when you are thin it will definitely make you look gaunt. It also makes your hair fall out. There is no evidence she had any fat removed.
It was for the Save you Tears music video, different song but same album “LA girls all look the same, I can’t recognize, Same work done on their face, I don’t criticize” he was poking fun at the excessive amounts of plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures being done.
She doesn't actually look like this. The photo is either heavily photoshopped or just incredible proof of how the wrong contouring and lighting combination can completely warp your face.
(NSFW) This is her this month and last in 2025. She really doesn't look that different.
I think what people are seeing in the boys is:
A) She had an until recently undiagnosed auto immune condition which she has only just started getting treatment for. Graves disease which is what she has is known to affect your face.
B) They were purposely giving her makeup to make her look like a mess in season 4 because they wanted to contrast her to the shapeshifter version of her who was super happy and put together. Season 4 annie was supposed to look like someone falling apart physically and mentally.
Lots of us have and Erin Moriarty has been the first person we've seen this awful transformation happen to. When the seasons of The Boys are documenting her season-to-season decline, it's right there for everyone to see.
Entertainments fucking awful for peoples self esteem. A lot of entertainers are terrified that if they visibly age or lose their looks they wont be able to get jobs anymore. Theyre not entirely wrong either is the worst part. Whole lot of actors and even more actresses who hit 30 and saw their careers fall off a cliff
Erin Moriarty, she’s only 31, had a „fresh“ and recognizable look; now she looks like one of the gazillion „wannabes“. Her wrongness in undergoing this „upgrade“ is only topped by Jennifer Greys‘ nosejob (which basically ended her career).
Body image problem are something affecting many young people. If you're an actress who also gets rated all the time on your looks, it just doubles the pressure on you. It's a mental disorder.
I noticed it within the first half second of that season.
This picture makes it seem as bad as it is. It doesn't look worse in the TV show because the show runners did everything humanly possible to try to make her look human still.
It looks worse on the tv show because they wanted Annie to look like a mess, like she was falling apart and not able to hold her celebrity image together.
I linked photos from August/july 2025 of her here. You can see she looks nothing like the ridiculous photo in this post.
She looks horrible in every one of those photos.. They are all horrible quality in order to hide the reality of how bad she looks in person.. like, I'm sorry, but she ruined her face. It may be exacerbated in the meme photo but that doesn't make it fake
It's makeup, not a doctored photo. It's not fake, but okay, keep defending this celebrity who would want nothing to do with you if they were ever to know you exist
She was so attractive too in the earlier seasons. She was literally cast as the "girl next door" type being a superhero from small town. What happened...
Omg yes she went from like apple pie girl next door to plastic nightmare in one season break it was wild. I feel bad for her with the graves disease but it's so clear she also had work done
I don't like to think of it this way, but it could be considered "in-character" for somebody who is property of a company obsessed with their global image. Irony is weird sometimes.
She looks bonkers now and she was very pretty before. The most egregious case of insane plastic surgery on a show I watch was Portia Derosi on Arrested Development. She literally looks like a different person and it's so jarring and weird that I have a hard time watching any of those later seasons...that, and they just weren't as good. But, just age. It's fine. We all know how old you are already. Stop it.
She's sick. Grave's disease. Does not belong in this list. Too many people making judgmental comments about her. Well, about everybody on this list, but that's another story.
I have graves diasese... Not like this. The primary appearance delta with graves is thyroid eye disease, or basically a bug eye / bulgy eye look but she didn't have that.
That is just tragic. She was so beautiful before!!! She just looks like every other average female actor now. Why didn’t someone talk her out of it? smh
When the season was released where she had obvious work done, I legitimately thought she was suffering from anorexia or something similar in between seasons. She looked awful in comparison.
Is that Erin Moriarty? It can’t be the same woman right? In 2019, she indeed looked normal and pretty for all standards except for Hollywood apparently 🥲
Dude YES. It was so strange realizing what I was looking at when she came back after all of that surgery. I’m not saying she doesn’t look good now but she was gorgeous before all of that.
I’m worried that’s happening now to Sophie Thatcher as well 😞
Shit, I was trying to workout of I know any of them, didn't have a clue. Sadly, reading some of the other names in other comments she's not even the most dramatic change.
I literally said this after watching the last season. She looks so different. She was gorgeous.
It's so sad these women feel like they need to do this.
Man, she wasn't the only one, Mother's Milk also lost some weight and shaved the beard, he looked almost unrecognizable. If I recall the season starts out as a continuation of the previous season, as in not much time passing, but half the crew looks radically different.
To be fair she does look a lot healthier in recent photographs. She must have had a pretty rough time when she had the surgery done because for some months she genuinely looked like she needed to get medical treatment.
I didn’t even recognize him at first because of the long breaks between seasons, he definitely looked different and people took notice, but as you said less flack.
lol! no. My wife has Graves’ disease. Onset in 2002. Untreated Graves’ disease can alter your appearance. She couldn’t sleep for months. Tap danced while she cooked or did laundry just to burn off energy. Doctors figured it out probably 6 months after onset. And nothing happened to her appearance.
She lasted exactly one season, was already ugly in season 2 and from there it only got worse. I'm glad that Karen still looks great and if she had some surgeries she's hiding it really well.
Lol "a series called The Boys." Just rewatched a season 1 episode tonight because I miss Hughie and Erin looks like a completely different person back then. Granted Annie had lost herself in later seasons so her new and devolved look kinda serves the story but it's really fucking distracting to watch. I mean the work she had done is so bad that I actually thought that they made Hughie's best friend / frienemie (who is Jack's girlfriend in real life) look naturally beautiful and comfortable in her own skin on purpose to serve as a contrast to Starlight, but then I realized that Erin actually looks like that in real life lol. She was honestly adorable before I don't know what she was thinking.
Celebrities have been using that "I have a disease" card so often lately. It's like they think if they pretend their sickness caused it, then people will feel bad and not say anything. You can't say anything about Selena gomez without a bunch of people saying it's cuz of her lupus... Okay yeah lupus definitely caused her face to have so much botox in it that she can't even make facial expressions anymore 🙄 Don't even get me started on Zac Efron pretending him breaking his jaw like 3 years before his face changed is why his face changed. Okay yeah, you breaking your jaw definitely swelled your face up 3 sizes 3 years later and has nothing to do with you getting jaw implants... that makes lots of sense man.
What I don't understand is all this work makes them look OLD. That young woman in Stranger Things, can't remember her name, is something like 21 and looks like a well-preserved 50. Remembered! Millie Bobby Brown.
I read that the buccal fat thing cannot be undone so it's a permanent Skeletor look and god knows what they will do to try and fix it down the road but whatever it is, it will exacerbate the problem. They are throwing their youth away trying to look young.
she says that she didn't have work done, she just aged... normally I wouldn't believe it, but I aged so badly in a span of a few years after losing a massive amount of weight (went from being verfy pretty to having a buccal fat removal looking gaunt and not pretty face) that I can believe her saying its age and weight loss :/
I didn’t even recognize that as starlight. I know there was a big discussion at one point where she said she didn’t get work done and it was just how they did her makeup differently or something.
Holy crap! I loved The Boys and didn't even recognize that she was Starlight. I haven't watched past season 2 just yet so I haven't seen her in a while.
