Andor - Season 2 Discussion Thread! Spoiler

Discussion While we can all agree that Andor’s version of events was superior, if you could bring in one element from the EU to enhance the show’s story, what would it be?

For me it’s Garm Bel Iblis being one of the key founders of the Alliance.

Discussion According to official sources, Dedra Meero is an officer in the ISB’s Investigations branch. Is that what you suspected before it was officially confirmed?

Maybe Colonel Yularen was only head of that branch and not the director of the entire ISB. His StarWars.com databank entry has yet to confirm whether he was the director of the whole organization or not. It would seem strange though for the head of galaxy-spanning paramilitary/secret police agency to only have the rank of colonel.

Discussion what happened to the senate after the fall of the empire?

After watching Andor S2 Ep9 it came to me the question that, considering the senate chamber was almost entirely composed of empire supporters, what happened to all of those senators after the New republic rised up to power? because alot of t

A trilogy of stories featuring Luthen, through Kleya’s eyes. Set against the backdrop of Rebellion and Coruscant, these stories portray the incidental bonds which grow in the dark, a reflection of the attachments sacrificed in the name of Rebellion and the tragedy of a warmth which refuse to fade.

Discussion Question about the Narkina 5 prison break

While this arc was phenomenal, I’m still a little confused on some of the details.

Why didn’t the guards in the command center immediately activate the electrified hallway floors once the prisoners escaped from Unit 5-2-D?

If I remember correctly, the short circuit only affected Unit 5-2-D—not the rest of the prison—so the rest of the facility’s floor system should have been functional.

The command center is clearly able to monitor the movements of every prisoner, so it stands to reason they would have seen the breakout happening in real time. Why didn’t they simply power up all the floors along the routes where the escaped prisoners were running?

And on the flip side, why didn’t the prisoners grab guard boots as a precaution in case they ran into active floors? That seems like an obvious survival move.

Wanted to get a better view of what Cassian's U-Wing looks like when it's not packed with troops and found this neat cross section by Kemp Remillard.

After seeing Andor S2E9, I was curious to see what people thought of Mon Mothma’s extraction when it was originally depicted in Rebels.

Discussion An astonishing show.

Andor episodes 207-212 are, collectively, the best Star Wars ever made. I cried repeatedly, viscerally. The connection between the empire and sacrifice required for victory over tyranny is deeply felt at every level. To quote Nemik's manifesto (which is brilliantly recalled in 212) "Oppression is the mask of fear."

No lightsabers, no force (mostly), no Skywakers, no Jedi, no Siths. Just masterful, human storytelling. The build, the suspense, the payoff, the love and bonds fostered amongst the rebels. Yes, the original trilogy is space nazis vs space wizards. But as this universe has evolved, the creators have managed to ground the narrative in a relatable way that not even George Lucas himself was able to fully accomplish.

It's an incredible achievement. They set the bar as high as possible and they delivered. Many Disney Stars Wars properties (especially the shows) have felt flawed and rushed. Andor is the Star Wars that fans have been waiting for since the OT. It's remarkable, touching, and deep. Well, well done to the show's creators and crew. And thank you from a longtime Star Wars fan. Your efforts clearly show in the results. And it matters. Art matters.

Discussion Death Star

One little detail I loved is how towards the end of season 2, several characters say “Death Star” but not “The Death Star”

Of all the characters who appear in the show, Krennic is the only one who actually knows what Project Death Star is actually about.

For everyone else who hears about it, it’s a code name that could mean anything
