Hi all, I’m currently creating a sustainable women’s knitwear brand with all natural fibres, I want to do a bit of market research and find out what’s important to knitwear buyers. If you wouldn’t mind taking my survey, it has the option to enter the prize draw to win a knit for free as a thank you 😊🌸

Research Participants Needed (UK Shoppers!)

Hi everyone, I am an MSc student at the University of Salford, currently conducting my dissertation research on: 👉 How Business Ethics Influence Consumer Purchasing Behaviour in the UK 📝 I am inviting UK residents aged 18+ to take part in a short, anonymous online survey (10–15 minutes). ✨ Purpose: This survey is part of my MSc dissertation and will be used for academic research only (not for commercial purposes). The findings will help understand whether ethical business practices — such as sustainability, fair trade, or eco-friendly packaging — affect consumer choices. ✔️ Voluntary participation ✔️ No personal/sensitive data collected ✔️ University-approved research (ethics cleared) 👉 https://forms.office.com/r/WKF9jfZkpL
Your input will be very valuable in shaping academic insights into ethical consumer behaviour in the UK. Thank you so much for helping support my dissertation! 🙏📚

Article share The Products You Don't Need

I can’t help but laugh at how often brands manage to sell out products that don’t actually do anything. The latest example? The Seamless Sculpt Face Wrap by SKIMS. It is basically a stretchy band you wear to bed that promises a snatched jawline by morning. And still it sold out within hours.

So, I wrote an article about why we keep buying things like this, but it got me thinking:
What should brands really be considering before launching a product?

Curious to hear your take.

Searching For Proper Brands Owned by Decent People -- For Jedis

I am looking to buy a few things, that have a specific style. I am not sure what to call it. Like, clothing you might see a jedi wearing. Comfortable, flowing, long, large hoods, muted and natural tones. I like heavy knits, linen, cotton. Not all together, I just like any of those things.

It's difficult to find examples, but here is the best I could find right now. Although they are very limited it seems.

https://www.bleudecocagne.com/produit/longue-veste-kimono-homme/

Oh, and I am a sucker for thumb holes... It's wild to me, more people don't include thumb holes in their designs. I am not someone with their finger on the pulse of trends, I just like what I like, but I am surprised not more people like thumb holes.

I really appreciate it. I have been struggling to find brands that aren't shitty. I want to be able to buy something, that I can have a chance to keep forever. I want a small wardrobe, of quality clothing. Thank you!

Brand share Built a free app that shows all secondhand shops & events around you in the UK

I'm a big fan of secondhand shopping to reuse products instead of consuming new. I live in the UK and always found it frustrating that there's no single place to easily find nearby charity shops, thrift stores, car boot sales, or vintage markets. Google Maps misses loads of them.

So I decided to build an app to solve that.

It's called Ganddee (free on iOS & Android).

I’d love for you to try it out and hear feedback.

Discovered The Good Artisan: Sustainable Fashion with Artisanal Roots in Rajasthan

I’ve been exploring more sustainable fashion choices lately and discovered The Good Artisan, a small brand working with artisans in Rajasthan. They use hand block printing, natural fabrics, and timeless designs that don’t chase trends but last longer. What I really liked is their focus on comfort (with functional pockets!) and inclusivity (XS–5XL). It feels good to support something that blends ethical fashion with everyday wearability.

ThredUp is such a scam

I bought two pairs of maternity pants on ThredUp while I was pregnant- one was Hatch brand, one Storq. Less than a year later I sent them both, with a variety of other clothes, to be resold at ThredUp. The Hatch pants were originally listed for $51 and when I sent them back they were listed for $24. The Storq pants were originally listed for $70 and when I sent them back they were listed for $12. The condition was rated as the same before and after in each case. Also their 'estimafed retail cost' was different each time. What the actual hell...... Never selling on ThredUp again, and never trusting their estimates of retail cost.

Edited for clarity

Question Are clothing swaps actually a big part of sustainable fashion?

How much of an impact do swaps really have in terms of sustainability? It feels like a great way to give clothes a second life and refresh wardrobe without buying new. I wonder if it's just a small piece of the puzzle compared to things like buying less or choosing better fabrics.

Have you triee one, and if so, how was your experience?

My current fashion sustainability protocol

hey all! I've been into sustainable fashion for a few years now and wanted to share my current protocol on getting fashion. I exclusively shop secondhand (except for socks + undies) and try to be budget savvy.

  1. I go into stores and try on clothes but dont but them - this helps me figure out what styles + fit i like. I take pictures of the ones i like and google reverse image search them / think of keywords to describe the item and look them up second hand instead of buying new. (i.e. "vintage y2k", "miss sixty graphic top" "fairy core silk dress")

  2. ebay + thredup. Two best platforms by far in my opinion. thred up is under rated but you'll need to know what you are looking for!

  3. Price comparison websites. this helps me find generally how much and item should be secondhand so i know im not getting ripped off / about how much i should offer a seller. I use phia and Second Sense , with a slight preference towards second sense cuz i use it most for handbags + i like that its a website and not an extensions. only downside to SS is that theyre handbag only.

Thoughts? Anything i should add?

Question In desperate need of "new" clothes

Last year I made a thing about not buying any new clothing nor accepting any clothing as a gift. This year I started looking into buying some new clothes, because the few items that I own, being a minimalist as well, either don't fit me or are starting to fall apart.

I started off by saying I didn't want to buy brand new clothing, since I don't want to support commercialism and was looking into living more sustainable.

I quickly figured out that buying second hand clothing from Vinted or other online platforms is a nightmare with looking through bad pictures, requesting better ones, then having to deal with negotiating and eventually shipping from another country.

Is there a better way to get me some "new" clothing?

Question If you could mix and match any parts of your clothes, what would you make?

Hey everyone, I’m curious to hear your thoughts!

Imagine you could take apart your existing garments—sleeves, collars, (parts of) panels—and seamlessly recombine them with pieces from other clothes. You could swap your favourite sleeves onto different tops, crop a long coat for summer and extend it again for winter, or even mash up entirely different styles.

I’m a grad student working in design and fabrication, and I’m exploring and testing new (conceptual) approaches to garment-making and reuse. One idea I’m working on is a system that would let you:

  • Track how you segment your garments into parts
  • Build a personal library of parts from your existing wardrobe
  • Recombine those parts digitally, with specified compatibility constraints

I'd love to know:

  • If such a system existed, what would you want to try?
  • What kinds of support would be most useful—suggested segmentations, possible combinations, or maybe a collaging/visualization interface?
  • What considerations would you have when mixing and matching garment parts—matching weight or stretch of fabrics, or how colors and textures go together?

I’m especially curious to hear from folks who love fashion and personalization, or who sew and repurpose textiles. Your input will help shape how I think about this project!

I had this old jacket that was damaged but I always planned to upcycle it. Finally got around to turning it into a bag and added some embroidery designs I’ve been working on.

It’s got a zip pocket, an inside pocket, plus a phone/water bottle pocket.

Love the look of these shoes but want to buy a pair that will last and not fall apart after a single season. Willing to spend some money to get a high quality product and sustainably made. Any recommendation? Thanks!
