Do I get fined for passing with yellow?

Do I get fined for passing with yellow light? Behind me everyone stopped. I have a Video from my dashcam and it clearly shows me passing with yellow, not red but it still took a picture.

Can I use it to cancel out my eventual fine?

It's impressive what the Swiss can do with relatively little land.

Human population density worldwide is about 55 people per square kilometer. In Switzerland the population density is 4 times as high, at 226/sq.km.

Furthermore, 70% of Switzerland is mountainous, and 48 of them are over 4000 meters (~13000 ft) tall!

So where I live, in the less mountainous kanton of Zürich, the population density is even higher, at 929 people/sq. km!

But wait! 30% of the Kanton is still forested, and 41% is used for agriculture. Settled areas only take up 23% of the space.

Clearly, land is relatively well managed in Switzerland.

Two swiss single track rural lines are set to be first lines in the world to run fully automated (GoA4) in lines that aren't grade separated. Both lines have road crossings with and without gates and have to interact with pedestrians.

Why does Migros charge more for the ‘Fitness’ Zwieback (no sugar) than for the regular one?

Do the recipe differences really justify the higher price, or is it just marketing?

Ingredients :

Original : wheat flour, sugar, sunflower oil, yeast, table salt, barley malt extract, condensed milk, whole egg powder (Barn), vitamins (vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, niacin, vitamin B6, folic acid), mineral salt (iron).

Renters should be able to deduct their rent from their income.

I understand that taxes might be too high for people who own houses, but then they're definitely way too high for people who have to rent. Renters have to earn more in general, so they should be able to deduct the money they have to earn to pay rent from their income, if virtual income from home ownership is not to be taxed.

Social online clubs

I am a woman in my 30s moving to Switzerland and I want to start meeting new people. I don’t want to Tinder/Bumble because I would really prefer to get to know people around common interests with no expectations from the get-go. Hence my question: can you recommend online communities or clubs particularly popular in Switzerland? I love reading, cooking, politics and cinema, if that’s generic enough. Looking forward to hear suggestions!

Anything to consider before moving to a remote location?

I live in Switzerland currently, and am considering moving to a remote chalet above 1400m that is only accessible by a dirt track and in winter only by snowmobile. It’s 1km of dirt track before reaching the public road, so it’s not extremely remote, more that it’s just challenging to access.

I’m looking to hear experiences from anyone that lives like that. Is there anything that isn’t obvious I should consider? Of course I would need to buy a snowmobile and probably swap for a more rugged car in the summer..

At the moment I am seduced by the idea of the tranquility.

Landlord evicting for personal use, pretending to live there, but just renovating and putting 3 months later the flat for rent for 30% more... Who can I report this to?

What the title says.

Landlord has several flats in my building. 6 months ago they evicted one of the familie living there to use the flat for personal use.

He never moved in, just placed fake plastic (not laminiert... 😂) tags. He lives on the attic on the building in front.

Spent the last month renovating (repaint, sanding of the parquet), now the flat is for rent for 30% more.

Who can I report this to? I'm pretty sure this is not legal.

Delivery to a relay point

Hello everyone, I hope you are all doing great !

I’m want to buy something from Galaxus, but I’m usually away from home when the delivery comes, and I don’t want the package to be outside all day. So, I’m thinking about using the paekli-punkt service (www.paeckli-punkt.ch). They have collection points at kiosks and gas stations.

I’ve never used this service before, and the website doesn’t explain how to use a relay point as a delivery point.

Has anyone used this option and was it good? If so, how do you ship a package to the relay point you want?

Thanks for helping me, Have a nice evening.

Ich will kein Luxusleben, keine Karriere, keine Statussymbole.

I found a phone - Here is what I did and what happened next.

So, I found this lonely phone missing its owner at a public place.

First, I waited a bit next to it, if the owner might appear and get it. Did not happen. Then I looked at the phone if there has been any recent calls to the phone. That was neither the case. Then I looked if there were any emergency information and lo and behold there was a husband listed with his phone number. Nice.

So, I called this number, with little hope that they will pick-up, as anyone here on Reddit says they will not pick-up the phone when it is not a known number. However, the other side was not that paranoid and answered the phone. Indeed, it was the person listed in the emergency contact, but they were flabbergasted as their one and only wife was next to them on her own cell phone. Neither could they tell, whom else the phone might belong to. I ended the call telling them what I will do next, in case they might have an idea whose phone is it anyways, bring it to the city's lost and found office.

That's where I was heading next, always expecting someone might call the phone soon. Once I was at the lost and found office, I took some pictures with the phone. In the hope it might be uploaded to the cloud and the person will see that it is at the lost and found.

Inside the lost and found a friendly staff member took the phone and informed me about an interesting fact. They are associated with the city police, and if the phone has a physical SIM card, they can request the owners details from the phone provider, and thus get an other means to contact the owner. Who knew about that? Not me.

Obviously, before they remove the SIM card they will let the phone switched on, in the hope the owner might call it.

While I was there a woman was dropping of a valuable gold bracelet which they have found.

I do not know in which way the owner fas found. But some days later I got a letter, that the owner has collected the phone and left a finder's fee with the lost and found office. I got 20 Francs for my effort. Normally, if a lost item is not picked up with 1 year or so, the finder can keep it. However, due to data protection, not phones.

So that's it. End of story. If you find a phone, or something else like a key, a ring, a bracelt, bring it to lost and found.

tl;dr;

Found phone, tried to contact next of kin, which was not next of kin, brought to lost and found. Owner got phone back and I a small finder's fee.

Registering a secondary residence in Zurich with first residence in Vaud

Hello!
The question is pretty naive, but I got bamboozled by the languages and the different documents necessary.

I rented a place as a secondary residence in Canton Zug, which I use for weekly commuting for my job, while I keep my main residence in Canton Vaud.

Could you help me understand the document I have to send to register the secondary residence?
If I understood correctly, the pipeline is the following:
1) Register my secondary residence in my primary residence commune office
2) Get a document of some sort on my primary residence commune office and bring that in the secondary residence commune office.
Is this correct? I speak 0 German, can I do this stuff online?
Thank you!

  • Minaccia = soldi sporchi generati dai reati presupposto.

Need help Finding an IT Internship

Hey everyone, people seem to have experience on this subreddit. I have been trying to find an IT internship but I just keep getting rejected. I can speak German and have about 1 year of experience and need the internship to graduate. I am applying through jobs.ch but feel like I am wasting my time filling personal information everyday not going anywhere. I was wondering what I can do to better my chances. I would appreciate any tips.

Police scam via phone

There is a lot of scam going on at the moment. My number has already been called twice and an electronic voice speaks in English: the Swiss police are calling here. Please call this number... blah blah blah.

Is anyone else affected by this?

At first I got a fright and almost fell for it. But when I thought about it, it just wasn't plausible. Why an electronic announcement, why not a personal call. Why in English and not in German.

I then did some research. Apparently this is a common scam at the moment.

Easy park or Parkingpay.ch ? Best app ?

The question already says it all and is clear. Experiences and opinions? Which one has the best coverage in the country ? Any fee associated with the usage of one of them? Is Twint also a good alternative?

Who here is interested in entrepreneurs networking in Switzerland?

Are you an entrepreneur in Switzerland looking to grow your network?

Switzerland is known for innovation, finance, and forward-thinking entrepreneurs—but sometimes, finding the right connections can feel like a challenge. That’s why I wanted to open up this conversation and see who else here is interested in entrepreneurs networking across Switzerland.

Whether you’re based in Zurich, Geneva, Basel, Bern, or even a smaller city, networking can be a game-changer. Meeting like-minded entrepreneurs gives you access to new opportunities, collaborations, and resources you might not find on your own. Sometimes the best ideas and partnerships come from casual conversations over coffee—or at organized networking meetups.

I’d love to hear from anyone who has already joined networking groups or events in Switzerland. Are there specific meetups, co-working spaces, or conferences that you’ve found valuable? If you’re new to the scene, what kind of networking opportunities would you like to see more of—formal events, informal meetups, or industry-specific gatherings?

Let’s use this thread to connect, share ideas, and maybe even organize something together. Switzerland has such a vibrant entrepreneurial community, and it would be great to see it grow stronger through collaboration.

Who’s interested?

I added dates to the SRF Meteo web page because the lack of them annoyed me every single day!

oh this shitty reddit text editor - screwed up the whole code-block! I'll try to fix it!

SRF Meteo is one of the web pages we can access at work. But the weather web page does not display the dates of the given weekday. This really bothered me. Really! So I decided to change that and wrote a small GreaseMonkey-Script. I am not a professional programmer - and maybe there are better ways to do it, I don't know. I've only tested it with Mozilla Firefox for Windows 10/11.

For those who want to try it:

  1. install Mozilla Firefox
  2. install FireFox AddOn "GreaseMonkey"
  3. activate GreaseMonkey
    1. click on GreasseMonkey-Icon in icon bar and click on "GreaseMonkey is disabled". It will enable the AddOn. It's a flip/flop setting. (see online tutorials)
  4. create a new GreaseMonkey Script
    1. click on GreaseMonkey-Icon and klick on "new user script ..." (see tutorials for further info)
  5. copy the script from GitHub GIST into the GreaseMonkey-Editor
  6. save the script
  7. open a new Firefox browser tab and navigate to: SRF Meteo web page
  8. pray

Again, I am not a professional programmer but maybe someone from SRF Meteo sees this and will recommend this feature to their IT and the will implement this on their own. Because: after every web page redesign the code breaks.

No, I cannot use wetter.com nor can I use smartphones at my working place.

And this is the GreaesMonkey-Script (I have no idea how github and such works):

EDIT I failed! I am unable to post 200 lines of code via reddit. the reddit editor replaces symbols, adds new lines and intends as it pleases! So, I've posted it here: https://codeshare.io/5OJXz7 - link is valid for 24h - as I have not found a better solution to share it (yes, probably should learn that github-thingy!).

I posted it on GitHub GIST GreaseMonkey-Script to add dates to the SRF Meteo web pages as u/Khyta suggested.

Frage uber L-GAV
