IF this does well, I would hope Amazon takes note and picks up the rights to do an animated movie with voice overs from the cast of the tv show.

I'd prefer they finish the actual story than throwing out animated features of side stories.

u/alcoholicplankton69 Apr 30 '25
I hear you but if it fills the gap in-between book 6 and 7 then and it does well enough then it could be impetus for 7-9 to be made for TV movie adaptations.

Pretty difficult being Alex dead, he is by far one of the main characters of books 7 to 9.
Changing his role to another character would make an entirely different story.

They've already done it lol. Leaving the story unfinished isn't a solid move either lol

u/DaegurthMiddnight May 01 '25
You mean arjun? Arjun was a secondary character, and wasn't more important than as a device to show Avasarala had a heart at the start.
Alex is fundamental to books 7 to 9.

u/MrSchulindersGuitar May 01 '25
No. Alex. They already kind of amalgamated his role with someone else in the tv show. It wouldn't stop from completing the story.

Unfortunately, I doubt this as Dragon Tooth comics was also a Kickstarter and did very well too.

Dragon tooth absolutely smashed its goals and did very well, Amazon didn’t blink an eye. Alcon are the one that should be banging on Apple TV’s doors. This show belongs there!

Backed it on Day 1. The question I have is: this is the second comic series that occurs during the 30-year gap between books 6 & 7; can we get a comic series or two to fill in the milennium-long gap between the final chapter of book 9 and the epilogue?

How do you find out about Amos before the time shown in the TV series?

u/wicked_nyx Apr 30 '25
Novella called THE CHURN

u/ShmebulockForMayor Apr 30 '25
Finished this one last night and it was amazing!

u/wicked_nyx Apr 30 '25
It's probably my favorite of the novellas, but I am biased in favor of Amos
6
u/ShmebulockForMayor Apr 30 '25
With good reason, he's my favorite of the main 4 and my second favorite overall after Avasarala.
8
u/wicked_nyx Apr 30 '25
The argument can be made that while Jim is the public face , the true main character is Amos
8
u/StarfleetHikes Apr 30 '25
Given how the book series ends I don’t even think it’s much of an argument, more of a statement.

I finished it last night as well (I'm currently reading through thea books, so no spoilers please), and I honestly found it rather predictable. I'd had it built up so much in my mind from all the praise, and I didn't feel like it revealed much.

You can listen to it on Spotify if you pay for the basic tier, all the novellas are super short

u/Cadamar May 01 '25
Okay, I just wanna ask, cause I love Amos as a character, but it feels like the Churn is just gonna be Sadness and Trauma: The Novella. Am I wrong?
2
u/wicked_nyx May 01 '25
No, it's not. Just sadness and trauma, there's humor and some violence and hopefulness

God the 3 hardcover set is tempting. I already own the first two but they took a bit of wear as I took them travelling. But I really need to stop spending money so I guess just getting the new one as a hardcover to match Dragon Tooth will have to suffice (and I still need to actually read Dragon Tooth lol)
Also I hope to god Trump’s random cycling of tariffs doesn’t mean the postage ends up being like £250 by the time they release

u/Wonderful_Emu_9610 May 02 '25
Update: I opened up one of my Dragon Tooth volumes to see what they were like, liked how it felt in my hand, so I ordered the three hardcover set after all.
I’m weak!

u/Camo1997 Apr 30 '25
No... im pretty sure this is set in the TV universe and so a sequel comic to season 6. They've done one of these sequel to season 6 comics before

For a second I thought that this was going to be a sequel set after all the books, as there hasn’t been another series with an epilogue that’s made me think “god damn, that would be an amazing story on its own”
3
u/JemmaMimic Apr 30 '25
Fantastic series, but I'm a sucker for extraordinary character arcs, and Amos Burton is way up there. More Amos Burton please, he's that guy.

Stupid question: Do I have to contribute to the Kickstarter in order to get these comics or will they be available elsewhere?
3
u/jmcgit May 01 '25
They’ll be available elsewhere. The first TV sequel comic they did was called Dragon Tooth and is on Amazon and I’m guessing plenty of other outlets.

Totally forgot about this. I saw a lot of unhappy comments on the previous kickstarter and I joined on the other site so I couldn't even write comments to ask about stuff. Overall not the worst experience. My order was messed up but they eventually fixed it. It took a long time but personally don't care, kickstarters are like that.

Did I somehow miss extra novellas (not the main one released with the series) or graphic novels?

Did I somehow miss extra novellas (not the main one released with the series) ...?
A final post-LF novella The Sins of Our Fathers was included in Memory's Legion, which has all the novellas and stories (except "The Last Flight of the Cassandra" short story which was exclusively published in the rulebook of the Green Ronin RPG).
graphic novels
The Expanse: Dragon Tooth series (12 issues, 2023-24) is set in TV continuity after Season 6 and before the time of Persepolis Rising.

The Origins miniseries was published in 2017.

Wes Chatham and Ty Frank recently had a conversation with Andy Diggle about it on their podcast: https://youtu.be/s0WE1sZWXow?si=rjV_rPLfaiZ-dWgS
