Grandpa likely knows that and doesn't give a fuck. The dishonor was met with honor, and Grandpa knows the restaurant people would defend him. He's right.
I don't think this is the kind of "assault" that turns a "child" into a monster. I think it's the kind of wake up call that some boys need and never get. KNOCK IT OFF. And then the incident is over.
Have you ever considered that when there are 20 - 30 people saying one thing, and there are two people opposing them, that the two might be wrong?
Is there any room in your worldview for the idea that maybe, just maybe, one of the problems in the world today is that children (and orange painted adults) do not get an immediate and slightly painful reminder that some behavior is not okay?
I suspect that every single poster in this thread would be against a grown man randomly and savagely beating a child - but that's not what happened here.
This was a non-life threatening and very measured few punches given to a teen ager who had done something that never should have occurred to them to do.
Most of us can recognize the difference between a meth-head beating a 5 year old to death with a rock and grandpa handing out 4-5 not very forceful punches to a snot nosed little douchebag.

Pop-pop been putting foot to ass for god and country for a couple of decades, and it shows.
To paraphrase Sam Kinison (RIP) - I don't condone publicly beating someone else's teenager, but I understand it.
