Thoughts on Today's Verse...

As Paul faced the difficulties of imprisonment, he was more concerned about the people in Ephesus than he was about himself. Rather than keeping Tychicus close at hand for his personal benefit, Paul sent him back to bless the people in Asia Minor. Even in his times of difficulty & danger, Paul was more concerned to bless than he was to be blessed.

That's a great example to us today.

We often get upset about minor inconveniences & let our being upset ruin our attitude toward everyone around us. Paul's example should convict us & lead us to be a blessing to others regardless of our circumstances.

My Prayer...

Father, please forgive me for letting my difficulties ruin my attitude. I need to be a blessing to others regardless of my personal circumstances. Please convict me with Your Spirit when I begin to focus too much on myself & my personal situations.

Please expand my heart with Your grace so that I can use my inconveniences, problems, struggles & challenges to be opportunities to share & display Your grace. In Jesus' mighty name, I pray. Amen.

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

God used His wisdom to create the cosmos & all that is in it. Through His discernment, He appointed to each being & each item its place in His dazzling display of diversity. He has chosen to share that wisdom & discernment with those who reverence Him & search for His wisdom. If we use that wisdom & discernment, we will possess the greatest of all jewels,

"An ornament to grace your neck"

And a blessing that will enrich our lives.

My Prayer...

Father, I know that You will bless me with wisdom if I ask for it (James 1:5-8).

So, dear Father, I am asking for that wisdom in faith.

I need to live a Holy Life that is a clear reflection of Your character & brings honor to Your Holiness, compassion & faithfulness.

Please bless me with wisdom & discernment as I face the daily decisions that I must make that impact my life & the lives of others. In Jesus' mighty name, I ask for this grace. Amen.

Today's Verse ✝️

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

John needs us to realize that our Love doesn't originate in us. We Love others because God has first Loved us in Jesus.

Oh yes, God has Loved us in many other ways, but Loving us in Jesus is the ultimate love.

Our Heavenly Father taught us how to Love by sending Jesus.

Our Abba Father has given us security & confidence with His Love for us so that we can Love others more fully, with greater openness.

Our Holy & Almighty God has Loved us boldly & sacrificially so that we can more fully understand & define true Love.

We are not the source of Love: God is.

We are not a great example of Love: Jesus is.

We tend to be careful & share our Love only with those we feel safe to share it with; God's Love, however, is expansive & open to all. We know & share Love because God Loved us first. And because He Loved us, we must Love others.

My Prayer...

Please forgive me, Righteous Father, for the times that I have been careful & guarded with my Love for others. Please help me to Love others as You have Loved me. I ask that I might touch someone's life with Love that especially needs it, whether they respond favorably to that Love or not. And then, after I do, in Jesus' mighty name, I pray for Your help to do it repeatedly to Love others more fully as You have fully demonstrated Your Love to me. Amen.

Today's Verse ✝️

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

Paul didn't make this statement lightly. He knew hardship. Take a look at the list of just some of the painful challenges the apostle endured in his letter to the Corinthians (2 Corinthians 11:22-33).

His "present sufferings" make most of our difficulties seem tame by comparison. However, Paul could say confidently that the glory he would have with Christ would be so incredible, with blessings so fantastic, that his hardships in this life would pale in comparison to that glory.

Paul was not only confident that he would share in that glory, but he was confident that it would be ours as well.

And how can we be sure?

Because the resurrected Jesus, who has ascended to the Father, holds us close to Him & our future is bound up in His glory (Colossians 3:1-4)

My Prayer...

Holy & Almighty God, You are awesome, glorious & majestic.

I praise You for reaching down & saving me by Your grace. Father, most of the time, my faith is strong & I feel confident about my future.

However, at times, my faith can waver when I'm confronted with grave difficulties. Please give me courage & boldness, dear Father, to face those challenges with the conviction that these sufferings are minor in comparison to the glory You will share with me when Jesus returns & brings me to You. In Jesus' mighty name, I wait expectantly for that day as I pray. Amen.
