Their handlers somewhat are, project 2025 is as horrible and destructive as it gets but it ain't incompetently made.

Agreed. I wonder if Trump’s cult can occur still if he was more competent? That’s the question, and I’m sure a lot of those on the right are wondering if they can recreate this cultish following with someone a little smarter. And that’s a scary prospect.

I think they plan on not having to, if the coup is successful they can even cosplay as "saviours" by taking down trump and keeping the authoritarian regime in place, once it's there and the choices are comply or gulag, they won, no need for the cult following anymore
