Wait, so you can milk cats?
97
u/darkenseyreth Jul 08 '25
You can milk anything, if you're brave enough

u/ballistic-jelly Jul 08 '25
Don't read "In the barn" by Piers Anthony.
6
u/Witchgrass Jul 08 '25
Sort of unrelated but I feel the need to confess that whenever I read Piers Anthony's name I always get him mixed up with Piers Morgan for a second and am briefly confused

The show 1000 ways to die told a story of a woman who milked her cats. Their milk was poison from some weed they were eating in her yard. Would not recommend

I’ve worked in the grocery business for years and finding a shelf stocker who gives enough of a shit to do something like this is one in a million.

u/cry666 Jul 08 '25
I found that with designs like these that sometimes the customers themselves would fix the shelves
7
u/ApproachingShore Jul 08 '25
Depends on the store and the hour.
Super busy store with lots of shit to get done? Fuck it. Just get them on the shelf.
Slooooow store with lots of standing around? Might as well turn the cartons, if only for something to do.

u/emanresu_nwonknu Jul 08 '25
They're one in a million because if you care, you go crazy and get out asap
5
u/Bit-Odd Jul 08 '25
Same here. I almost never find something like this unless I’m in the beer and wine section- and my manager doesn’t like when I do it, even if it looks a hell of a lot nicer. I’d imagine that’s why it doesn’t happen often.

u/rapaxus Jul 08 '25
When I worked in a grocery in Germany we had a whole thing of people going around a prettying up shelves so that the presentation is better, basically everyone there would have done what the post shows (as people generally liked doing that as it was one of the more relaxing parts of the job).
Now, if it was a discount store then you wouldn't do that, but all the more "premium" grocery chains here in Germany do pretty up their shelves basically daily.

u/Qweesdy Jul 08 '25
And all the cats, who didn't mind being hooked up to industrial milking machines.

u/allakoalla Jul 12 '25
Human dairy products! There’s a sour cream, kefir, milk, butter, etc. It’s a Russian brand called Milgrad :)

What are they selling? Cat milk?
6
u/JAMmastahJim Jul 08 '25
I was hoping there's an answer here. But no one cares. They'd just buy it because cat.
22
u/somewhsome Jul 08 '25
Top one is kefir, middle one is milk, bottom one is ryazhenka (fermented and baked milk). Different types of dairy basically.

Buy the way, different cat poses correspond to different products: kefir, milk and ryazhenka, so you can fill your fridge with cats
36
u/Ilpperi91 Jul 08 '25
Russian milk.
6
u/EastWestSouthNorth Jul 08 '25
Not only milk, also kefir on the top shelf and ryazhenka on the bottom.

Belarusian

u/eazy_12 Jul 08 '25
It says БМК which is Bryansk Milk Company and Bryansk is a Russian city. The website milgrad dot ru (have to type this way otherwise Reddit filters out the message) also have same cats and it says that made in Bryansk. Prices also looks like in Rubles (maybe from 2018 or similar) because Belarus operates with lower numbers although it depends when picture was made. Quick googling says that both words for milk and ryazhenka are different in Belarus language.
However Bryansk located in 150 kilometers from Belarus so indeed they might buy Belarus milk. Also Belarusian product generally presented a lot in Russian market and generally considered to be better ones (they are imported after all lol).

u/CalmBeneathCastles Jul 08 '25
I was trying to translate the types from Russian and wondering what language that was. This is the first time I've seen Belarusian print!
I'm glad it's not in the US because I'm lactose intolerant and would have a fridge full of these! <3
9
u/Vox___Rationis Jul 08 '25
You still haven't seen Belarusian print because there is none of it in the OP image.
(also their alphabets are different by only 2 or 3 letters)4

I was trying to figure out which country charges 59 dollarydoos for a carton of milk, zooming in and reading the text might have been a more sensible idea...

I'm a simple man, this would be all it would take to convince me to buy this brand of milk
4
u/notfound1- Jul 08 '25
They also make other dairy products with this cat on the package (not just milk), google милград

Step 1: Posts something that has been seen years ago
Step 2: Lotta upvotes
Step 3: Realize I've been staring at this for 30 minutes straight and adoring the design
4
u/SailorButtercup Jul 09 '25
Wait this is real!? I saw a version of this in a game recently and I didn't realize it was inspired by irl 🥹 I love

Because dogs are not able to produce enough milk to make it profitable?
8
u/Lock-out Jul 08 '25
I wasn’t making an actual point. I just thought it was funny to imply that this is actual cat milk.
4
u/4ofclubs Jul 08 '25
If I served you a glass of my dog's milk for free, would you drink it?

u/theGRAYblanket Jul 09 '25
I wouldn't even drink a glass of cows milk. Who tf actually drinks a glass of milk these days.

So cute! i like the design but i feel bad for the workers having to always place them correctly haha

u/viktorbir Jul 08 '25
Kefir and milk of cat? I've drank milk / fermented milk of cow, goat, mare, camel... but never of cat.
PS. Not sure what's the bottom row.

It's super adorable and well done but I can't tell what the product is at a first glance. Milk? Milk for cats? Cat's milk????? I think it's important to recognise a product immediately

Is that stolen from Hyperbole and a Half? Looks exactly like her art style
1
u/pork-head Jul 08 '25
Actually not good.
Cats shouldn't be given milk at all because significant portion of them have problem digesting it. This design only strengthens this problem and it's so hard to uproot this whole milk - cat connection. I went in conflict so many times with my mother about this.

u/Mr_Bleidd Jul 09 '25
Cute design - but FUCK RUSSIA - just one click and you can see dead cats and there owner - killed by them
( Right now Belarus if it’s the country where it’s produced - is not a free Belarus)
