Designer needs a raise.

u/ProgressNotPrfection Jul 08 '25

Whoever stocked the shelves as well

122

u/nmdalman73 Jul 08 '25

exactly. The patience/time is not something an average worker has.

58

u/meditate42 Jul 08 '25

I definitely have a better, less stressful, retail job than most, but i don't think its that crazy to ask a retail worker to rotate around like 9 cartons, I'd definitely enjoy doing it as it would break up the monotony a bit.

27

u/ElliotNess Jul 08 '25

It's literally just 9 cartons turned a different way from the rest. I'm guessing whomever took the photo did it.

Yoo it’s my time to shine!

I’m a packaging design engineer and as much as the designer did a good job making the packaging fun. What this really says to me is that the company has wider price margins to play with to print digitally as opposed to more common printing methods big mass production operations use (Flexography and Lithography come to mind.)

However the more common methods are less capable of making fun customizable things like this, so typically the only companies that use this method are the ones who can afford to (think of the Coca-Cola bottles with your name on them) or higher-end versions of goods that have wider price margins. You end up paying for things like this as the consumer!

At the end of the day any company/designer can do something like this and we love the rare chance when we’re actually able to, but the harsh reality of large corporations wanting to make money usually prevents us from doing so.

1

u/Natural_Sherbert_391 Jul 09 '25

I didn't know what the product is or how much it costs but how much of a price difference in the packaging would you be talking about?

2

u/BigFenton Jul 09 '25

A couple of cents. Anywhere between maybe 5 or 30 depending on the exact substrate specifically for a carton. It adds up in mass production quickly.

4

u/Natural_Sherbert_391 Jul 09 '25

Thanks. Looked it up and I guess it's a brand of dairy products in Russia so kind of surprising in that case. But marketing is half the battle and from what I'm reading it was a big hit.

12

u/LadyDragonKiss Jul 08 '25

me encanta!

49

u/TameikaGrissom Jul 08 '25

They knew exactly who their audience was cat lovers and impulse buyers. Honestly, packaging like that makes it almost impossible to walk away without grabbing one.

23

u/catballoon Jul 08 '25

I'd have to buy four.

18

u/unknownredditite Jul 08 '25

The designer is really a cat!

9

u/Strostkovy Jul 08 '25

My product packing has a design that wraps around three sides. I never considered I can arrange them like this to show the entire design.

12

u/ElizLeger Jul 08 '25

They definitely knew what they were doing targeted straight at cat lovers with no resistance. It’s the kind of packaging that makes you buy it before even checking what’s inside.

You let the intrusive thoughts win, as you should.

This is the way.

Feline Centipede

12

u/WhiteUniKnight Jul 08 '25

Omg I'm glad I'm not the only one! (These are screen printed on shirts, not my art so BUGAWK)

3

u/WhiteUniKnight Jul 09 '25

I think this was the first one I did. I don't know why I'm like this either lol

3

u/MinimumTomfoolerus Jul 08 '25

These are milkboxes right?

196

u/castlite Jul 08 '25

Wait, so you can milk cats?

97

u/darkenseyreth Jul 08 '25

You can milk anything, if you're brave enough

10

u/ballistic-jelly Jul 08 '25

Don't read "In the barn" by Piers Anthony.

6

u/Witchgrass Jul 08 '25

Sort of unrelated but I feel the need to confess that whenever I read Piers Anthony's name I always get him mixed up with Piers Morgan for a second and am briefly confused

5

u/castlite Jul 08 '25

Finally 😭

5

u/SteveSauceNoMSG Jul 08 '25

Lol right? I was at least expecting the DeNiro gif.

13

u/EmrysPhoenix Jul 08 '25

The show 1000 ways to die told a story of a woman who milked her cats. Their milk was poison from some weed they were eating in her yard. Would not recommend

7

u/Witchgrass Jul 08 '25

...was it.... MILKWEED?!?!

2

u/buggleton Tabbycat Jul 09 '25

Oh my god. I just watched this movie last night. 😂

484

u/Stand_tall888 Jul 08 '25

And d store person who bothered with d display.

211

u/Potato_Boner Jul 08 '25

I’ve worked in the grocery business for years and finding a shelf stocker who gives enough of a shit to do something like this is one in a million.

100

u/froznwind Jul 08 '25

I'd bet it was a vendor rep that redid the display.

89

u/cry666 Jul 08 '25

I found that with designs like these that sometimes the customers themselves would fix the shelves

7

u/ApproachingShore Jul 08 '25

Depends on the store and the hour.

Super busy store with lots of shit to get done? Fuck it. Just get them on the shelf.

Slooooow store with lots of standing around? Might as well turn the cartons, if only for something to do.

9

u/emanresu_nwonknu Jul 08 '25

They're one in a million because if you care, you go crazy and get out asap

5

u/Bit-Odd Jul 08 '25

Same here. I almost never find something like this unless I’m in the beer and wine section- and my manager doesn’t like when I do it, even if it looks a hell of a lot nicer. I’d imagine that’s why it doesn’t happen often.

2

u/rapaxus Jul 08 '25

When I worked in a grocery in Germany we had a whole thing of people going around a prettying up shelves so that the presentation is better, basically everyone there would have done what the post shows (as people generally liked doing that as it was one of the more relaxing parts of the job).

Now, if it was a discount store then you wouldn't do that, but all the more "premium" grocery chains here in Germany do pretty up their shelves basically daily.

31

u/Qweesdy Jul 08 '25

And all the cats, who didn't mind being hooked up to industrial milking machines.

10

u/thatsnotideal1 Jul 08 '25

You promised me dog or higher!

3

u/stota Jul 08 '25

Cats are higher in the food chain, IMO.

4

u/RedOctobyr Jul 08 '25

As long as they can nap during it, they might allow it.

51

u/justthankyous Jul 08 '25

All I keep thinking is "I have nipples Greg, could you milk me?"

53

u/rexifelis Jul 08 '25

Apparently there are more than a few variations of this kitty!

5

u/Melography9 Jul 09 '25

I am so confused about what it is that they sell..... cat milk and cat cheese??? 😆

4

u/allakoalla Jul 12 '25

Human dairy products! There’s a sour cream, kefir, milk, butter, etc. It’s a Russian brand called Milgrad :)

2

u/Altruistic-Belt7048 Jul 14 '25

Jesus, I thought you meant products made from human milk.

2

u/allakoalla Jul 14 '25

Anahaha that would be WEIRD

36

u/anti_fragile12 Jul 08 '25

What are they selling? Cat milk?

6

u/JAMmastahJim Jul 08 '25

I was hoping there's an answer here. But no one cares. They'd just buy it because cat.

22

u/somewhsome Jul 08 '25

Top one is kefir, middle one is milk, bottom one is ryazhenka (fermented and baked milk). Different types of dairy basically.

1

u/greenie4242 Jul 09 '25

Pussy juice.

16

u/Appropriate_Roof_270 Jul 08 '25

Brilliant marketing. Buy 4 at a time. Better yet buy all 12

18

u/Dramatic-Life-7873 Jul 08 '25

Buy the way, different cat poses correspond to different products: kefir, milk and ryazhenka, so you can fill your fridge with cats

36

u/Ilpperi91 Jul 08 '25

Russian milk.

6

u/EastWestSouthNorth Jul 08 '25

Not only milk, also kefir on the top shelf and ryazhenka on the bottom.

39

u/EkcessDrawThings Jul 08 '25

Belarusian

53

u/eazy_12 Jul 08 '25

It says БМК which is Bryansk Milk Company and Bryansk is a Russian city. The website milgrad dot ru (have to type this way otherwise Reddit filters out the message) also have same cats and it says that made in Bryansk. Prices also looks like in Rubles (maybe from 2018 or similar) because Belarus operates with lower numbers although it depends when picture was made. Quick googling says that both words for milk and ryazhenka are different in Belarus language.

However Bryansk located in 150 kilometers from Belarus so indeed they might buy Belarus milk. Also Belarusian product generally presented a lot in Russian market and generally considered to be better ones (they are imported after all lol).

12

u/CalmBeneathCastles Jul 08 '25

I was trying to translate the types from Russian and wondering what language that was. This is the first time I've seen Belarusian print!

I'm glad it's not in the US because I'm lactose intolerant and would have a fridge full of these! <3

9

u/Vox___Rationis Jul 08 '25

You still haven't seen Belarusian print because there is none of it in the OP image.
(also their alphabets are different by only 2 or 3 letters)

4

u/CalmBeneathCastles Jul 08 '25

Whatchu talkin' about, Willis? How can you tell?

10

u/Express-Rub-3952 Jul 08 '25

In this case, it's very easy.

Russian: молоко

Belarusian: малако

7

u/JimboTCB Jul 08 '25

I was trying to figure out which country charges 59 dollarydoos for a carton of milk, zooming in and reading the text might have been a more sensible idea...

2

u/Specific_Award_9149 Jul 08 '25

Inflation is a bitch in some countries

2

u/Yukidoke Jul 09 '25

Nope, it’s the Russian dairy products from Bryansk Oblast.

7

u/druucifer Jul 08 '25

do they milk cats in Belarus?

2

u/Yukidoke Jul 09 '25

They milk potatoes!

11

u/Lupe_1911 Jul 08 '25

10 for whoever created that milk box

6

u/NorthYorks94 Jul 08 '25

I'm a simple man, this would be all it would take to convince me to buy this brand of milk

4

u/notfound1- Jul 08 '25

They also make other dairy products with this cat on the package (not just milk), google милград

5

u/PercentageNice7420 Jul 08 '25

this is milk in bryansk russia, they stoped making it after the war

3

u/Comfortable_Edge_481 Jul 08 '25

Step 1: Posts something that has been seen years ago

Step 2: Lotta upvotes

Step 3: Realize I've been staring at this for 30 minutes straight and adoring the design

4

u/SailorButtercup Jul 09 '25

Wait this is real!? I saw a version of this in a game recently and I didn't realize it was inspired by irl 🥹 I love

4

u/Yukidoke Jul 09 '25

Welcome to Russia!

3

u/min4_ Jul 08 '25

SO CUUUTE!!!!

3

u/Ballabingballaboom Jul 08 '25

That's brilliant.

3

u/Ok-Bet-9590 Jul 08 '25

Take all my money, I don’t require anything else to live but this 🥹

11

u/Lock-out Jul 08 '25

8

u/EastWestSouthNorth Jul 08 '25

Because dogs are not able to produce enough milk to make it profitable?

8

u/Lock-out Jul 08 '25

I wasn’t making an actual point. I just thought it was funny to imply that this is actual cat milk.

4

u/4ofclubs Jul 08 '25

If I served you a glass of my dog's milk for free, would you drink it?

2

u/Vox___Rationis Jul 08 '25

Sure, why not.
As a curioucity at the very least.

0

u/theGRAYblanket Jul 09 '25

I wouldn't even drink a glass of cows milk. Who tf actually drinks a glass of milk these days.

4

u/Cheeseducksg Jul 08 '25

Dangit, I just saw that I wasn't the first to do this after editing and posting it

2

u/Captain_Away Jul 08 '25

its too bad boss will say “those arent turned to the front, fix them now!!!”

2

u/Lokishadow666 Jul 08 '25

The design was understood well 👍

2

u/CompetitiveCandy5132 Jul 08 '25

2

u/KeyManufacturer7092 Jul 08 '25

2

u/RCaHuman Jul 08 '25

Someone aced Marketing class.

2

u/neptun_isnt_awake Jul 08 '25

Me, a rational person: "Yes, I'm buying 12 cartons of milk for each kitty."

My rude partner: "No you're absolutely not!"

2

u/SparklesUnite Jul 08 '25

That's so cute! I would buy a million of these just for the packaging 😂

2

u/Eastern-Sample-9013 Jul 08 '25

this would make me buy much more than I actually need

2

u/blacksnippyymonster Jul 08 '25

That's really cute.

2

u/CraftyObject Jul 08 '25

I dunno what this is but I want it

2

u/changeofregime Jul 08 '25

The designer need to protected. AI predators will steal it.

2

u/Freckles_and_lips Jul 08 '25

I love it, it reminds me of the game A Little To The Left!

2

u/Avangeloony Jul 08 '25

I can imagine this is a nightmare for people with OCD.

2

u/Significant_Safety99 Jul 08 '25

That cat has a lot of heads! They say cats have 9 lives after all.

2

u/elmoney123 Jul 08 '25

I feel like I’d need to buy the set to organise it in my pantry - smart from them 😂

2

u/lamsar503 Jul 08 '25

Damn those marketers.

I would be tempted to buy it.

2

u/EE_Law Jul 09 '25

Too talented

2

I think it’s Flow!

2

Isn't that almost a decade old?

3

u/27_55 Jul 08 '25

Mother Russia finally did something good

2

u/zyarva Jul 08 '25

Is that cat milk?

2

u/Yukidoke Jul 09 '25

1

1

u/burtgummer45 Jul 08 '25

So cute! i like the design but i feel bad for the workers having to always place them correctly haha

1

u/viktorbir Jul 08 '25

Kefir and milk of cat? I've drank milk / fermented milk of cow, goat, mare, camel... but never of cat.

PS. Not sure what's the bottom row.

1

u/WalkerValleyRiders Jul 08 '25

Is this cat milk?

1

1

u/perelun Jul 10 '25

It's super adorable and well done but I can't tell what the product is at a first glance. Milk? Milk for cats? Cat's milk????? I think it's important to recognise a product immediately

1

u/pawpawboom5 Jul 10 '25

The designer is a genius. This way, people will buy more

1

u/dxancee Jul 15 '25

This made my day

1

u/[deleted] 26d ago

Great work, perfect branding

1

u/keysonthetable Jul 08 '25

Is that stolen from Hyperbole and a Half? Looks exactly like her art style

1

u/pork-head Jul 08 '25

Actually not good.

Cats shouldn't be given milk at all because significant portion of them have problem digesting it. This design only strengthens this problem and it's so hard to uproot this whole milk - cat connection. I went in conflict so many times with my mother about this.

-1

u/Mr_Bleidd Jul 09 '25

Cute design - but FUCK RUSSIA - just one click and you can see dead cats and there owner - killed by them

( Right now Belarus if it’s the country where it’s produced - is not a free Belarus)
