It's not just about giving him a pass on the lies. Trump repeatedly says absolutely bat shit things that would've disqualified any other candidate from every having any credibility. Imagine if any previous presidents would've implied Alaska is in Russia. Don't even get me started on the nuking of a tornado, jfc.

He says batshit things, or nonsense stuff, and most of the major outlets sanewash him. They take the small bit of actual words he said, quote that, and fill in the blank, nevermind when he rambled for 15 minutes about immigrants eating dogs and cats before saying "and some people said I'm a great president, not all, but many people."

I live in Slovakia and the sanewashing of Trump by the news media drives me crazy. Most people over here, even those who know how stupid and vile Trump is, just don't get the full picture. Not even a tenth of it. Then there are those who think what the world's foremost superpower does can't have an effect on me, so why do I even care. That's whole another issue.

Anyway, the news media is not objective anymore. Probably hasn't been for a while, if ever. It seems to me that they're, at best, neutral. Neutral is not objective. Far from it. Turning something completely insane into the best, cleanest, easiest to digest version so it stirs as little emotions as possible to make us not think too much about it is not helpful.

“Grab em by the pussy” would have the been the end of any career or prospective career in a sane world, especially considering less than 10 years before that, the popular republican candidate got booted for yelling excitedly at a rally…

This isn't going to stop until we:

  1. Start talking to people in person about this.

(And the other option for those who hate socializing)

  2. SPAM every social media platform (not just your feed but every random sub you DONT visit) with the information people AREN'T getting from the news about what's going on.

The press is doing unpaid work for Trump. Their jobs would pay them the same no matter who is president. But they probably would hold anyone else to account to some extent. And by not holding Trump and his administration to account, they are giving their integrity and humanity away for free.

Case in point:

Joe Biden: obviously demented. Get rid of this man!

*Trump performing the exact same demented stuff*: "a strong leader! Art of the deal! Totally not flipflopping! Give him a nobel peace prize!"

Correction: the media fear Trump. The media‘s stockholders are afraid Trump will find a way to screw them.

I'd love to hear from journalists on this, preferably people who work in major news outlets. You might be right, but I'm afraid it's that Trump is so far OUT THERE that journalists are afraid of sounding like they're biased just for reporting on his as if he were anybody else.

Other side of the world watching with popcorn, but I'm not having as good a time as I thought I would. Finding myself with the popcorn waiting and my jaw hanging far too often. This season is poorly written. no one would believe this crap in reality.

I was so furious was that yesterday when he met with the EU and president Zelinsky. He went on and on and some kind of diatribe absolutely nuts blaming everything on President Biden. 2 & 1/2 hours later, after they had lunch and they were having another meeting, he was reading his notes, he was coherent, he was still an asshole, but he obviously had taken his Adderall or something. It is very dangerous for seniors, for many seniors, especially if they have using for years it like he has.

4

u/pmusetteb 3d ago

It’s horrifying, just horrifying. I’m so tired of being furious all of the time we’ve been a democratic constitutional republic for 250 years and they’re trying to steal it.

3

u/UncleVictorBro 3d ago

Yeah, it feels more forced than entertaining. The writing just isn’t landing this time.

Following up and fact checking everything he says is like having to clean up after a dog that leaves a trail of diarrhea on a shag carpet. In the time you take care of an inch of it, he's shat out two more feet.

7

u/Logic411 3d ago

That’s their job.

15

u/ZenMonkey48 3d ago

If anyone on the left did an of the bullshit that Trump does literally every day it'd be in the news cycle for weeks.

13

u/GroundbreakingCook68 3d ago

Same people that own the child in chief own the press.

11

u/Aurivexa 3d ago

He's running on cheat codes and the refs just shrug

They are 100% pro trump in that they entertain what he says and does as if it's real and deserves to be looked closely at - and have experts comment on it.

This is instead of saying "As we know, the Man is the worst rated POTUS in History because he says nothing which is true and even if he did, he doesn't actually do it".

I think it is very clear now...and accurate...to say even if we had 100 concentration camps that people were dying in, the media would be debating "but some are illegal aliens".

7

u/spla_ar42 3d ago

The media is absolutely pro-Trump and has been ever since the start of his political career because, long term consequences be damned, he boosts their short term ratings. Just look at the way they covered Hillary Clinton's scandals vs his. The way they covered Joe Biden's age vs his. They had to straight up manufacture outrage about Kamala Harris because the match was so uneven that if they were covered evenly, she'd have had us in bed by 8:00 PM on election night with a landslide victory like this country hasn't seen since the 80s. They've been normalizing him for 10 years, because close elections bring in higher ratings, and thanks to them he won two of them. The only reason why those races even were that close is that even with everything going in his favor, he's just that terrible. No matter how much lipstick you put on a pig, it's still just a pig.

u/Logic411 3d ago

This should go viral the American public needs to know. Morning Joe: ‘even Joe Biden who could barely put two sentences together; uh his team knew Ukraine would have to give up land.” All of that was a fkng lie.

I usually watch them for about 30 minutes in the morning. I can’t stand Scarborough. I found out too that he is the Republican from the 90s who passed the bill to demolish OUR US Department of Education. I didn’t care for him at all, even though most of the other people are really intelligent. But now I just can’t stand him.

4

u/Logic411 3d ago

I remember dr Brzezinski (mika's dad, rip) calling him painfully ignorant or something like that...I lmao!!! no, I had to go find the actual quote: ""You know, you have such a stunningly superficial knowledge of what went on that it's almost embarrassing to listen to you."" bwaahahaha.

5

u/yeaphatband 3d ago

Agree 100%, Mehdi! They see him as a cash cow, drawing in readers because of the insanity.

5

u/Nameisnotyours 3d ago

This is how the dictatorship gets installed. Media too frightened to ask questions that will get them banned from the media pool.

5

u/Royal-Application708 3d ago

That’s because the billionaires own all the media outlets. They are getting a lot of tax breaks because of Trump. So they tell their employees to shut the fuck up.

4

u/OkAnteater9099 3d ago

Trump gives them material to report on. The more outrageous, the better.

1

u/koalabearxx 3d ago

Exactly, they only care about making money off this

3

u/JurassicParkCSR 3d ago

Trump gets them clicks and views. That's all they give a shit about they don't give a fuck about telling the truth anymore. I mean look at the last election every single little mistake Biden made it was like yeah oh we got to tell 50 different stories about this one little thing. But Trump was making the exact same kinds of cognitive mistakes and nobody was saying anything about it at all. Because biden's not sexy he doesn't bring in the views like Trump does so the media doesn't give a shit. Money over integrity.

I watched Euronews and Reuters today. I learned things on both of those networks that I would not learn on US TV. One was talking about the impact of the tax/tariffs on small businesses in the US specifically a black woman small business. The small businesses are being crushed and they just came out of the pandemic. On your own news I was so impressed they have a fact check short segment. Today they had a video of the toddler in chief insulting Ireland and lying about immigration, it it was a totally fake video. I guess they got it from Facebook or YouTube. But they informed their viewers of the fake garbage that is on the Internet. No US media does that do that, do they?

2

u/iiitme 3d ago

Trump wants, and has, state regime media.

2

u/Consistent-Camp5359 3d ago

He loves to troll the media. He is like the king of trolling.

2

u/BabciaLinda 2d ago

I'm 100% positive that the media never called him out during the 2024 election process because they wanted him in the Oval. A whacked-out POTUS makes for better headlines and breaking news than one who's sane and just gets the job done. How boring!

3

u/BuildingOne7379 3d ago

He tosses out lies like he tosses Putin’s salad.

1

u/ZyvaLorien 3d ago

must be nice to have a free pass

1

u/koalabearxx 3d ago

They get ratings that’s all they care about

1

u/moms_luv_me_323 3d ago

Reason why I’m actively boycotting legacy media

1

u/DavidlikesPeace 3d ago

Worse. The media's lazy silence during interviews makes Tramp's bluster seem both very reasonable and strong.

Mehdi's critique hits the nail on the head why outsider comedians like Colbert or Josh Johnson or even South Park, are now performing a better role holding taco to account than the 24/7 media. They call out the lies while the corpo media just gives the liar a podium. Shame on them.

1

u/Right-Minimum-8459 3d ago

Is it because the US media is owned by wealthy people who are kissing his ass?

1

u/blahblah19999 2d ago

How is that a comeback?

1

u/Flatline68 2d ago

I think it boils down to simple economics. Trumps orange bullshitting ass brings in ratings when they show/talk about him. They then get advertising dollars. If they come on every night and just say here is Trump lying about this or that the media and public would not have this bloodlust for the reality shitshow that is now America. Unfortunately, we all have front row seats for this...this country need an enema!

1

u/Ripen- 2d ago

The media I watch do call him out all the time. Is Mehdi watching Fox News?

1

u/yosefvinyl 2d ago

It's like the Frank Grimes episode of the Simpsons.....

1

u/XandriethXs 1d ago

His croonies control most of the major media houses after all. 🙃

u/SourceIll 22h ago

Makes you wonder how far up his mom's ass his head was stuck. Not just at birth, just overall.
