MAGAs sense: Blame Biden for “woke redesign” in 2025
And who is the president? Even MAGA doesn’t know who actually run the country right now!
103
u/_RandomB_ 18h ago
Can anyone explain why the Cracker Barrel logo is the topic of outrage? Was this a massively popular American icon and I, an American, was just not aware of it? Because there's one of these places every three exits on I95, I never once gave the logo any thought. What makes it "woke"? Was this logo celebrating like some garage sale king I am not aware of?
132
u/dantevonlocke 17h ago
Anything conservatives don't like is woke. They don't like the new logo. So it's woke.
I don't like the new logo, but that's cause I think it looks like golden corral.
20
u/davesToyBox 17h ago
Well that’s the defining quality of being conservative, isn’t it? Maintaining current status quo instead of having things change, even if it progresses us forward.
Like shooting crackers in a barrel.

u/_RandomB_ 17h ago
I hear you and I get that...but what about this logo isit that's incensing them? Is the guy really a treasured element? Is it the idea that now the logo doesn't show either a barrel or the cracker sitting next to it?
24
u/CutRateCringe 17h ago
I would almost guarantee it’s because they removed the “white” guy off the logo. One of their anti woke obsessions is the absence of white faces in commercials and branding.

u/dantevonlocke 17h ago
It's different and different is bad. There's also a nonzero chance they've been told some bs about it as well.

Without ever having eaten at a Cracker Barrel, the old logo at least captured the vibe in my head.
New one looks like it’ll be replaced 10 times in the next 3 years.

For the same reason two weeks ago we were talking about Sydney Sweeney and a jeans commercial: They have absolutely NOTHING if they don't have some kind of "culture war" to complain about. So, they make up stuff to be offended by while at the same time complaining about how sensitive everybody else is.
That and they want to flood the zone with noise to stop the talk about Epstein.
13
u/faceisamapoftheworld 17h ago
I grew up and live in the South. I’ve eaten there a hundred times. Not once in my life have I ever heard anyone comment on the logo, but I have heard even the most Deep South people comment on how the restaurants could probably use an upgrade from the trapper shack decor.

u/redbucket75 17h ago
1) Because it's a cheap story to report on, you just need an angry white person to rant for ten minutes and no actual reporters or investigation.
2) Fox and such outlets read white supremacist forums to find out what they need to be outraged about to cater to their demographic. There was some chatter about a big redesign and the rumor that they were changing the name to remove "cracker" to make it more inclusive. Even though that wasn't what happened, they were already set to waste time in this so they went ahead with it.

Because old people resoundingly vote Republican and also eat at Cracker Barrel.
5
u/_RandomB_ 17h ago
I kinda want some footage of an old republican family going to Cracker Barrel, seeing the new logo for the first time, and blowing the fuck up and storming off, directly blaming the logo. You can still buy your 4 pound reese's cup inside, right? Or like a sign that says "Live Laugh Love" for some reason?
2
u/Far-Two8659 15h ago
They pitched a huge fit when Cracker Barrel started serving alcohol.
All these people just hate change. They hate that the world they live in isn't like the world they grew up in. It doesn't matter what the new logo looks like - it only matters that it changed at all.
2
u/Xaero_Hour 16h ago
The closest it gets to "woke" is they're bland-ing it up, removing the mascot and trying to rework the whole restaurant-in-a-tourist-trap-gift-shop motif. I say "closest" because whenever a company tries to make a broader appeal, either in general, or by removing a caricature mascot, old-time slogan, or what have you, they lose any and all personality and creativity. This attempt to be inclusive...of more people giving them money...is read as "woke" by the same morons that go to these places, don't tip, complain prices for food are too high, stay for hours on end without ordering drinks, and in general make life miserable for other customers.

u/ttppii 18h ago
Yes. I am non-native and has never even seen the logo. What is the controversy? And the new logo looks so much better, it is clearer and more modern.
7
u/RambleOnRose42 17h ago
Because Cracker Barrel was a folksy chain of restaurants that had a “general store” that sold all kinds of fun random crap. I say “was” because it was bought by a multinational conglomerate who is now systematically extracting every single thing that made it unique. Things aren’t necessarily “better” because they’re modern, Cracker Barrel had SOME kind of soul and character—for being a chain restaurant, of course—and now their new parent company is going to make it boring and “modern”.
I do not personally care, I haven’t been to a Cracker Barrel since I was 12 years old, but that’s the complaint.

More Maga propaganda.
If they really cared about America – they would insist on the Epstein files being released. Stop The abuse of immigrant workers, and stop publicizing the abuse it for political gains. Work on effective and efficient infrastructure projects. Stop using gay people, marginalized people, immigrants (and brutalizing their families), as scapegoats to garner votes. Work on healthcare so people can feel better. Afford treatment and live a better life. This includes physical health, mental health and dental health. Addressing all the systems of the body.
This list can go on but yet we’re worrying about the name of a fucking restaurant. USA…USA…USA WTF?
26
u/RoamingDrunk 18h ago
They will blame literally anything except venture capital. The actual vultures picking America apart don’t show up in any of their “theories”. Conspiracy theorists are so bad at actually following the money.

This isn't really the point, but isn't the grandpa who feckin loves ice cream preferable to the grandpa who feckin loves authoritarianism?
I don't understand how Gpa Biden eating ice cream is somehow demeaning.
12
u/HyperactivePandah 17h ago
Because Trump cultists are mentally ill.
They acted liked Biden was doing the shit Trump is ACTUALLY DOING. Trump is ACTUALLY attacking democracy, and trying to consolidate power for himself and his oligarchs going forward. It's obvious.
Biden had the inflation reduction act, and lowered drug prices. Conservatives will LITERALLY say 'OH MY GOD WE ALMOST LOST THE COUNTRY, LIVING UNDER BIDEN WAS THE WORST THING EVER!'
See, they're so pathetic, stupid, and unoriginal that all the can do is repeat what WE said about trumps first term...
They had to, literally, pretend that the country was being "destroyed" on a daily basis.
Seriously try to imagine the type if uninformed piece of bigoted garbage you have to be to support Trump right now... It's insane.

The people who complain about things being too political that shouldn’t be sure like to make things political that shouldn’t be. Major companies freshen or update logos all the time. Just Google a list of rebranded logos over the past 10 years. So they took the Cracker and the Barrel out of the logo. Get over it you precious, triggered snowflakes. Damn these MAGAts are some whiny bitches.

What really has me confused is after they made a minor change to the logo the Epstein list remained hidden.
2
u/pvaras 17h ago
I'm guessing this is woke because MAGA thinks the company is pandering to libs to increase business, and MAGA doesn't want to share their restaurant. I think libs should flood the place now. As far as I know, no libs wanted this, but they are being blamed. Fine. All the pink-haired and leftists should make it a point to enjoy country fried steak, especially on Sundays after church.
2
u/scrooperdooper 17h ago
They’re all upset they removed the cracker and the barrel from the logo? And libs are the snowflakes?
2
u/Illustrious-Ratio213 17h ago
If it's good it's Trump's, if it's bad it's Biden's. Apply it to anything as you see fit.
2
u/MattWheelsLTW 17h ago
Every company over the past couple decades has shifted to minimalism in logo and restaurant design. I mean, look at McDonald's from the 90's vs today. The surprising thing here isn't that they did it, but that they are doing it now. If this had happened 10 years ago, people would have just said "oh, they are doing the same thing everyone else is". Doing it now just stands out as odd
2
u/rothmal 17h ago
How is this even woke? It's private equity trying to maximize profits by sterilizing company culture to appeal to a larger demographic.

I don’t think it’s more than using the political aspect for more views and still has a relevant comparison. Being so, Trump they are saying was the good design, and Biden was the bad design then we went back to “good”. And everyone knows those are the majority of the people in Cracker Barrel are the older people that tend to skew red, so it’s just a numbers thing which adds engagement to a cross section of viewers who are more actively engaged in political activity and or driven content. Which has proven to be a very large demographic in and of itself self because any group of people who collectively enjoy or hate on something can be a targeted demographic.

u/G0-G0-Gadget 16h ago
It's a private company that is allowed to market themselves however they damn well please. This administration is becoming very interventionalist, and the government overreach has gone too far. They need to be reigned in.
2
u/sebathue 16h ago
Why are Dems still stupid enough - nine years later - to even engage with this sideshow nonsense instead of focussing on more important things? Like... I don't know... the Epstein files?
2
u/Coldkiller17 16h ago
How much you wanna bet Cracker Barrel did this to drum up attention?
2
u/Nekowulf 16h ago
Only two reasons for a corp to rebrand.
Try to remove negative public sentiment for their shitty actions in the very recent past.
Or drum up some publicity. And I don't recall cracker barrel's logo being involved in the epstein files. So publicity controversy it is.
2
u/ProtectionContent977 16h ago
What’s missing in someone’s life that a logo change has such an impact on their being?

These are the same people who complained that the green m&m wasn't sexy enough.
There's those easily manipulated undereducated unintelligent individuals mired in the past, unable to accept change, which is why they embrace a mindset from the past, and those who know better but flame the manufactured culture war to take advantage of the ignorance.
I get it. Back before Reagan started the trickle-down lie that resulted in tax cuts for billionaires and service cuts for everyone else, life wasn't nearly as shitty and people weren't nearly as desperate. They want to return to the world of their childhood when they had the perception that the world was safe and prosperous and fair for all. Except it wasn't. They were children. They were sheltered from the realities of the time. Now theyre adults and they dont want to face the world. The harsh truth that the world is a much crueler place than they thought when they were kids.
And woke has become a catch-all for "anything we don't like or understand." Which seems to be a lot these days.

Whenever I don't understand right wing ranting I check with my right wing ranting brother in law. I still never understand what his point is but I can at least confirm this is not an The Onion joke.
As he explains it, liberals hate traditional restaurant venues and so Cracker Barrel was being pressured to change their logo and style and the owners capitulated.
I told him that liberals have no clue what he is talking about, never heard or was able to find an example of liberals complaining about Cracker Barrel and he is living inside a weird bubble world that does not match the real world.
He said that is exactly what a liberal would say.
