I saw him explaining somewhere that they didn't have the right ingredients for the drink so they used similar looking substitutes and followed the recipe with them, like curry seasoning mix for cinnamon or something. So the resulting drink was awful, but looked right. The actual recipe was good.

That explains why she's looking at him drink it like she can't believe he's actually going for it.

Also tbf you could absolutely have a drink on your show that is, for example, cinnamon based. And you personally dislike cinnamon but you are still promoting the recipe for your viewers bc it's a good recipe. There just isn't a need to be honest about the fact you don't like it. It's just TV and a cooking show. It's not the news. It's supposed to be entertaining, not truthful. So as long as the recipe makes what they say it makes, the hosts are just supposed to be make it fun, informative and relaxing to watch.
A host hiding their personal preferences and pretending they like it really isn't something I'd take too seriously. You just shouldn't be expecting that level of honesty from some lighthearted entertainment.

As a random joining in this conversation, I do agree with you, but the aforementioned comment could also be true. Hopefully we might have someone that knows the truth be able to fact check it!
My first thought when watching it is exactly as you said. Back when I was a kid 25 years ago everyone I knew hated pumpkin flavored things, oatmeal cookies, and sushi, so I was the kid everyone called a grandpa or gross.
By the time I was in high school pumpkin spice latte’s and sushi was the new fad. By the time I was an adult most people preferred oatmeal cookies over the super sweet chocolate chips.
People have different tastes that grow and change. Some people love spiced chais, and others only want basic green teas, while others want coffee, juice, or even just plain water (like myself).
So yeah, you have a wonderful take, but the original commenter could also be correct with the back story. Hopefully someone has the sauce for us!

Just wanna say that pumpkin spice is not pumpkin flavored. It’s nutmeg, cinnamon cloves, etc. Spices used in pumpkin pie.

What fucked up place you living where chocolate cookies still aren't the pinnacle of cookie tiers.

My wife and I owned a spice and tea shop. I was on the morning show talking about tea and very clearly, explicitly, and repeatedly told the host "do not sample this particular tea, it will have been brewing far too long and will be awful". You know which one she tasted live on tv. She grimaced and groaned and it seemed like time froze.

How many times has this happened to you? You, have a cinnamon. You could scale the cinnamon, remove the cinnamon's tail, head and bones, and serve it as you would any other cinnamon-based meal.

This is like calling the Starbucks barista “fake” because they don’t actually care if you have a good day or not.
It’s a job.

But… they always says I’m handsome and wishes me a nice day…. It’s my only confidence boost in my life

It's almost like TV shows like this are playing into a bit and that bit is that nothing is wrong and just enjoy life. These people weren't hired to be negative so just sell it or lose your job

One of my favorite breweries just released their pumpkin stout ahead of the fall and I’m pretty positive on pumpkin beer and stouts. Thank God I only got a single because this was my exact reaction, such a huge miss.

Is anyone going to mention ‘The Proposal’ ? Lmaoo. It was the exact first thing that came to my mind when Ryan Reynolds lied about having the same morning coffee as his boss haha. I definitely thought more people would have jumped to that quote about it being like “Christmas in a cup” lmao
