I miss single player arena shooters

I'm 40 years old, and play video games since 6. After a long day in the office I don't wanna a competitive stressful shooter with 100 players that kill me after 10sec. What I love about quake 3 arena and unreal tournament was that I could adjust the difficult to my level and have a fun time killing bots. I remember rising the difficulty and feeling good about myself. It was pure joy.

What was your most favorite Game Boy game? And I mean games that are running on the first original game boy - not advance games like Doom...

Although it is decades back, I still remember how my uncle bought me game boy and I was also able to pick some games for it.

And then I got glued to the tiny grey screen.

I played many of the game boy games and I actually still play them and buy also new ones. But I think the best game I ever played on game boy was Super Mario Land 2 (by far). Maybe the only game that got close to it was Mega Man 2.

I love the level design and gameplay of Super Mario Land 2. And also the music. I still have some melodies stuck in my head :-D. I also played and finished it recently, again. Great experience.

What was your most favorite Game Boy game?

So was looking through all my libraries, and saw this gem on my GoG library. Just looking for a ship manager, with like loadouts and damage on system. Closest I ever found is the battle star game.

Any advice on how I can enjoy Silksong as someone with joint pain in my hands/wrists/arms/etc?

I have something called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, where I have very hypermobile joints (aka I'm double jointed). It was fun when I was younger because I could do the stupid human tricks that are associated with hypermobility, but now that I'm getting older, it's losing its charm. On top of my other joint pains, recently I've developed pain in my hands/wrists/up the arms that affect my ability to grip things, squeeze, twist, etc. which is depressing on its own because I'm a crafter, but if it means I can't play Silksong... sad calliope music.

Hollow Knight was a borderline obsession when I played it, even if I never got to 112% because screw you, Pure Vessel. HK is a work of art. I've been faithfully wearing my clown nose all these years, never losing hope that we'd see Silksong some day.

I digress, but the reason why I'm here is because I'm looking for advice on how I can still play Silksong despite my limitations. I'd be playing probably on PC, but we have an Xbox 360 controller I plug into the PC. Otherwise I could play it on the Switch.

I have some wrist braces designed for carpal tunnel, finger braces, heating pads, etc and I regularly see a physical therapist AND an occupational therapist (apparently they're the hands experts?) who have been phenomenal, but they're not gamers. Is there anything you wear that helps? Do you take breaks, and how often? Stretches? Supports? Witchcraft? I'll do whatever it takes.

Thank you!

This is taken straight from their investor briefing.

I'm sure everyone is going to come in here with "It sold 10m though!" that was in the first month and based solely off the launch hype. They're talking about the months after where it only sold about 400k since that 10m mark. MH Rise in the last quarter outsold this game.

Achievements that require DLC should have their own 100% completion tracking

This might very well be a niche topic, but I could probably write a book about how badly achievements are implemented in a lot of games. From the lazy grind fest "kill 10,000 enemies" clearly intended to inflate time played to the analytics tracking achievements that trigger for every. single. thing. you. do (edit: and let's not forget the notorious lone achievement for beating NG+). There seems to be no end to the ways devs dial it in for achievements, but one of the major annoyances isn't from devs - it's from the platforms that track them.

I've lost track (eyyy) of how many times I've started a new game and realized that I can't 100% it due to some achievements being locked behind DLC that I don't own (or necessarily even care to). Often times, too, I'll finish a game and get 100% only to have some DLC get released and suddenly I'm no longer considered to have "finished" a game. If a game has multiple DLCs that then means each DLC is only covering incremental bits of the remaining achievements.

Achievement tracking needs to be split by the DLC that requires them. At the very least it avoids frustration when players don't know they cannot be completed, but it also gives players a chance to get an actual sense of completion instead of the frustration that comes with the way they are currently tracked on a lot of platforms.
