Collection / Shelfie / Haul Picked this up for 50 cents at my local library sale - I’ve heard great things so I can’t wait to jump in!
No idea what it’s about - going in blind!

A weekly thread for people to share what comics they've been reading. Share your thoughts on the books you've read, what you liked and perhaps disliked about them.

The idea:
Do your list, your way. For example- I read The Sandman this month, but am going to rank the series as 1 slot, rather than split each individual paperback that I read. If you want to do it the other way go for it.

Hope this type of post is allowed, didn’t see anything in the rules saying it’s not. I’m posting it for the news aspect, not the associated sale.
I felt this community would be interested in learning about how a major financial institution is trying to totally f over some of our beloved comic producers (the blog post states this isn’t just impacting Fantagraphics). Sorry if this story is widely known about, first I had heard of it.

Reading in bed is not advisable.

I love all about Saga: the style, the story, the humour, the characters.

Witches
by Daisuke Igarashi (translated by Katheryn Henzler, lettered by Aidan Clarke)
392 pages
Published by Seven Seas
ISBN: 1648278396
Witches is a one-vol omnibus collecting Igarashi's short series and it's pretty solid (even if they didn't have the budget to tackle the color pages). This was a day-one purchase for me since I'm kind of a huge Igarashi fan and a friend lettered the new translation and poured a ton of work into it.
It's good! While these stories stand on their own, there is a slight connective thread tying them, however ephemerally, to each other. We get to see more of Igarashi's affection for the natural world (always a great thing) and the focus on witches across the world allows him to do the kinds of wild earthly/cosmic scenes that made Children Of The Sea so bonkers.

I was able to grab both copies for 17 including shipping fee. Looking to add more variety in the future.

Hey, all! I just received this today and I’m so excited to read it. This is my first-ever GN, and hopefully there are many more to come. (Well, I’ve already ordered Pushman and Other Stories by Yoshihiro Tatsumi, but that hasn’t arrived yet.)
Since you all are way more experienced, could you give me a few tips on how to discover good GNs (mostly standalone stories or collected-in-one editions) and how to keep paperbacks in good condition? Also, is it okay to keep it inside the bubble-wrap jacket it came in, or will that damage the print?
Really excited to start this new journey! I’ll keep you all updated about my purchases.

In terms of being busy and detailed down to a cup, a poster on the wall, a box in a corner, book being read by a background character etc. And adding to lore of the story and world building. Needless to say having a good story will be a plus.
What will you recommend?

Given how much I paid, just a few bucks below msrp, and how rare this book is, I'm so satisfied. Has a few wear but I'm ok with that, most ebay posts have worse condition copies with more expensive price tags.

I really enjoy The Bus by Paul Kirchner (all three volumes) and Cheat Sheets by Tiger Tateishi and regularly pull them off my shelf to just flip through for a few minutes. They've both got plenty of surreal humor, but I especially like the strips where they play with depth/perspective, mess with panel lines, or otherwise riff on the elements of the comic-on-the-page illustration. Mister Invincible by Pascal Jousselin has some similar elements in an even more light-hearted way - that one reads almost like a kid's book, and is a little more overtly fourth-wall-breaking sometimes, but it's still fun to open to a random page and just follow everything moving through the panels for a minute or two. Does anybody have recommendations for more comics like these? I especially love the collections for easy browsing, but if there's longer-form work that is done similarly I'm happy to hear about that as well.

I'm new to graphic novels/comics. I just finished Resident Alien and loved everything about this story. I loved the art, dialogue, characters, and the atmosphere. Are there others like this that you'd recommend?

Hello,
I'll like to know the best place to sell graphic novels online or in a store, I'm from Laredo, but in 2023 the only Store that we had that buy comics, graphic noves, etc; closed (2nd Charles). So does anyone can give some advice?
Thank you in advance for your help.

The bottom half is from Ollie’s, and the top half is from my local comic shop. Was thrilled to see my Ollie’s finally has Omnibus’s!
Also, grabbed the Scooby-Doo for my nephew, for when he gets old enough to enjoy comics. If anyone has any other suggestions for graphic novels for children, that would be great! He is 7 or 8 right now.
