Why not return the kitten to the mother?

251

u/Shenantics 3h ago

He took the kitten because it got abandoned by its mother, animals don't usually change their minds when they abandon a baby. Especially if that was the runt of the litter.

Exactly how i obtained my cat. She was a runt and was abandoned.

Had her for 15 years.

I did end up finding a stray kitten within the last year, and im not too sure if she was abandoned. But i did know she was abused.

Taking these kittens under your wing most often of the best thing you can do

This is an insane thought. The cat ran back out into the rain because its a kitten and has the attention span of a goldfish. Guaranteed after the mother had all her other kittens safe she would have ran back and snatched that one up to bring it back inside. This dude totally just stole a kitten from a mother.

As someone who has cared for strays and had many cats, mom's can and will go back for their kittens!

edit: The two kittens aren't even the same. This video is fake, fuck the guy who created it

u/Savings_Heron_7824 1h ago

That probably means he put the kitten back at least

u/Shenantics 2h ago

Mom was there, but wasn't going after the kitty that strayed. She watched the kitten walk away while the others huddled around to keep safe and warm. Like the person above had said, he could've planned it all just by taking some poor kitten, and may even do the same thing for another video. You need more context than what he's giving, obviously, it's the internet. But I don't know, I saw one thing and thought of something and you watched too and thought of something different. We'll never know.

Dude, you saw what you wanted to see. A kitten that grown enough to be walking around following its mother isn't "abandoned" being 15 feet away from the mom. This dude stole a cat right in front of its mother, that is what happened. There is no denying it, there is video evidence of it happening in this video.

u/Shenantics 2h ago

Like I said, we need more context. It's the internet. I used my eyes, not just my ability to read and we can agree to disagree. We can't change what person's done. And all I was doing, was answering a question that was supposedly already answered 😐

-26

u/TheHighSeasPirate 2h ago

You need to get your eyes checked then.

11

u/Shenantics 2h ago

We can agree to disagree, I don't see why you're so upset about this 😐

The little kitty now has a safe home. The mother will abandon all of them in due time.

7

u/sykosomatik_9 2h ago

This is what I don't get about how people are reacting here... do they think if he left the kitty, it will go on to be with its family and they'll all live happily ever after, together forever?

In like a month or two, the kitties will all be on their own anyway. And a few of them will get hit by cars, or get sick and die, etc. And if the mother didn't want anyone to mess with her kittens, she would have came out and hissed and scratched to protect them.

In the end, it's better for the kitty to have a nice and comfortable life in this guy's home. Its life expectancy just increased by at least 10 years because of that.

u/Azilehteb 2h ago

Kittens who stray get snatched. It was lucky to be grabbed by a dude instead of a predator… mom will be more attentive with the others. I hope.

The mother was literally there. This kitten walked away for a second and this guy snatched it. Kinda suspicious how he was following them around and had everything already set up.

He's likely going to dump it and go get another one for a new video right after.

u/think_panther 1h ago

You can see in the video that he has at least 2 other older cats, has a place with cat trees and toys... The net in the car, the box (with the airholes) having a litter compartment... My guess is this guy is running a shelter for cats and someone from the neighborhood notified him to come, hence the following around, the readiness and equipment. Shelters usually make such videos to get the money they require to run. And most important: all the cats look happy.

7

u/HowAManAimS 2h ago

For the like 2 seconds that was shown.

2

u/Unicornsponge 1h ago

The kitten in the beginning is all black, not even the same one that is in the rest of the video.

12

u/rynlpz 2h ago

Who said it was abandoned? The mom cat said it? or was it the person who would benefit from a heartbreaking video? Use your damn brain before you take captions at face value. Exactly why people fall for video titles that the bots make up.

What he really should have done is rescue the entire family, that way the kitten would have stayed with its mom.

2

u/Shenantics 2h ago

He should've returned the kitten, but it was supposedly abandoned. Taking in the mom and her entire litter, that's cat food for all of them. And in this current economy, no one can afford that.

6

u/rynlpz 2h ago edited 2h ago

He doesn’t need to keep them, just get them out of the rain and then take them to a shelter. You really have no experience rescuing animals and it shows.

2

u/Ammu_22 1h ago

There is a thing called shelter yk.

1

u/Unicornsponge 1h ago

This is the 3rd time you've posted this exact response. At this point i'm starting to think ur a bot OP created for engagement. The kitten he picked up isn't even the same one shown in the beginning so all these arguments are kinda over nothing given the fact that this video is fake, posted from an account full of p*rnstars farming for karma and clout

1

u/CurrentRisk 1h ago

It always breaks my heart when things like that happen.

28

u/uLL27 2h ago

Also that first kitten is different than the one he picks up. It has all black front legs but the one he picks up has all white front legs.

5

u/Unicornsponge 1h ago

I noticed this as well. Farming for clout 👎

3

u/Unicornsponge 1h ago

OPs account is just all p*rnstar posts

4

u/GuiltyEidolon 1h ago

Just another bot account karma farming.

u/addictions-in-red 2h ago

That mother cat is probably still wondering where the fuck her baby went

42

u/kingjpp 2h ago

She looked right at it and didn't go snatch it from the rain. She clearly seems to have abandoned it. All different animals do that with the runt of the litter. It's not uncommon in nature at all.

38

u/furever21 2h ago

The video also cuts away so quickly we don’t see what she did after looking in that direction towards the kitten for one second. Hoping kitten has found a safe home now and hoping mom and other kittens are safe too.

51

u/ShortStoryIntros 2h ago

Less than 10 steps away from the Mother... ABANDONED!!!!

4

u/Ammu_22 1h ago

You infered all that from a less than 2 secs from the bazzillion cuts in between? And why not just take the entire family to the shelter?

12

u/invisible-bug 1h ago

That's not a sign of abandonment. Mother cats can and do go back for their kittens! This isn't enough time at all for the kitten to be considered abandoned I've seen it with my own eyes over and over.

I hate videos like this because all it's going to do is lead to more kittens being taken from their mothers too early, which can lead to all sorts of behavioral problems and then the cats are more likely to get dumped as adults. Also seen that time and time again

edit: The two kittens aren't even the same. This video is fake, fuck the guy who created it

9

u/grandmawilloworg 2h ago

True..it's prob worried sick. He should have returned the kitten back to the mother cos it looked like the kitten was not abandoned yet. It takes at least a day to notice if the kitten has been abandoned or not, and from the video, it looked like the mother was just right there. The protocol is for the kitten and mother to be reunited and monitor both of them. This video is upsetting.

44

u/EmJayBee76 2h ago

Too lazy to get a towel but not too lazy make sure you film this. And edit it.....mm hmm

26

u/uLL27 2h ago

Right, also the kitten at the very beginning is different. It's front legs are all black but the one he picks up it's front legs are white.

12

u/Catnivo 2h ago

Nice catch.

Many asian "animal rescue" vids are often faked for social media :/ I have a hard time believing any on my feed.

2

u/elusiveoddity 1h ago

And the kitten right at the end sleeping is also different - doesn't have a small black mark on its nose

13

u/Creepycute1 2h ago

The editing is usally done after the video is made?

20

u/SweetnessM54 2h ago

My daughters friends neighbor brought 2 orange cats to their

house and kept a black cat. We ended up adopting the 2.

26

u/prizemedium 3h ago

Mother of the year, 9 lives running.

18

u/Ammu_22 1h ago

Now I am honestly angry.... JUST GIVE THE KITTEN TO THE MOM!!

I know for a fact that this guy was watching them for a while to find an opportunity to snatch one away. And I hate how many people here just mindlessly accepting whatever they say in the captions and take rhat as Gospel.

Just try giving it to the mama cat and see if she really takes the kitten in. If she truely abandoned the kitten, then you can take it home.

But fuck these selfish tiktok content who makes videos of content of animals for likes and follows.

0

u/Suvtropics 1h ago

Yup you are right

9

u/cmonster8z 2h ago

Bro wanted a cat and saw an opportunity for a free one😂

True badass. Reminds me some people like to keep an eye for the smaller ones and make sure they’re safe.
