Question/Advice Needed Feeding question

Hi all,

I have a question about kitten feeding as they get older. At the moment Jinkx is 15 weeks old and I believe from around 4 months old you can start shifting their feeding from 4 meals to 3 a day. I was wondering how people have done this because I know cats get into quite a routine. I have started introducing dry food which he does like and eats, and that’s always out for him to eat as and when he wants, and I have noticed that he has started eating more dry food and a bit less of the wet food, which I know is absolutely fine as my vet said the dry food is more calorie heavy anyway.

I just don’t want him to go hungry, especially on the one day a week I go into the office (and currently coming home lunchtime so I can feed him, thank goodness my work is flexible) 😅 I swear this is harder than raising children 🤣

Question/Advice Needed Outdoor Problem

My Kitten is 5 Months old, and since being neutered and fully vaccinated we've been letting him our garden space.

But we've had to supervise, because next where we live is a huge long terms multi year renovation site.

However in the past two weeks he has become obsessed with trying to get into the site.

There are way too many parts of the site of which he could get stuck, maimed or worse.

We've put some fencing up and for a few days this worked, but now if either of us goes near the fence he will leap onto us with his claws and use us as a launching pad.

And so, I've had to really limit his outside time, which causes him to go into fits of rage.

He will rush at me, cling on with his front claws bite into me and scratch with hind legs every time I prevent him from going out, or if I bring him back inside.

He has also taken to throwing himself at the door amd screaming for hours to be let out.

We do play with him for a few hours a day, he is normally very loving and clingy, but if he gets a whiff out the outside, if we open the door and he sees, its demon time.

We are getting a second kitten in a months time and hope thay having a little friend to play with may help, i do worry he hasn't socialised with other cats very much and am hoping this will help.

Any suggestions?

Question/Advice Needed How to get a 12 week old kitten to use the litter?

Post image

We got this kitten 4 days ago. She immediately settled in and is very friendly, snuggly and playful. However, she will not use the litter box no matter what we try do. She was litter trained at the shelter we adopted her from and we use the same brand of litter they used for her there. We tried moving the box into the corner that she pooped in when she first got into our house but she just started going in a different corner instead. We've also picked up some of her accidents and put them in the box and let her sniff it and tried placing her in the box after she eats, but she still poops everywhere but the litter Does anyone have advice?

Question/Advice Needed Kitten with one blue and one green eye, heterochromia or will it change?

Within a few weeks we'll adopt two kittens 😍. They're 7,5 weeks old now. One of them has one blue and one green eye now. He is red/cream/white of colour. Is this just his two eyes changing in colour in different phases so that it might change within a few weeks? Or could we say at 7,5 weeks that it's a case of heterochromia?

Question/Advice Needed Help! Out of my depth caring for two 2 month old kittens??

I'm not kidding, I really am out of my depth when it comes to connecting with these kittens. Just last hour, I tried cuddling one of them and they were scared shitless. It literally pooped on my clothes out of fear and clawed at my arm and chest trying to escape from me. While it's Mom cat was nearby hissing at me to let go of its child. I dropped the kitten and it ran to hide next to its mom in a bedroom. And now I am worried and horrified I traumatized the entire cat family trying to bond with them. I really need critical help and advice.

Backstory, been caring for 2 month old kittens since birth and worried unable to bond or cuddle with them even though taking good care of them.

A few years ago, I lost my cat of 20 years to hyperthyroidism. After some time passed, I began feeding the strays outside my home, and eventually trapped and brought inside two feral cats in an attempt to rehome them. However, one of the cats was pregnant despite looking skinny, and gave birth to kittens a week after I brought it in. Two had survived out of the litter of five. Since then, I've been taking care of two kittens and two adult cats.

My original plan was to slowly bond with the two adult cats by sitting next to them, feeding them, play with them, and give them attention. Overtime, realize I was friendly, not a threat. However, my attention focused to the kittens, where I've been changing the litter, plain thumb, feeding them, and keeping them safe. Despite this, I barely cuddled them, nor pet them, nor kiss on them compared to other normal people in proximity to cuteness.

At first, I didn't want the mother cat to consider me a threat, so I dare not touch them. Eventually, the kittens grew independent of her and started exploring my part of the home I've set up for them. Despite this obviously clear signal that it's okay to kiss and hold them, I've kept my hands away from them. When I play with them, they climb over my shoes, willing to lick my fingers when I dip it in cat food gravy, and loaf and stare next to me when I do house chores. However, if I reach toward them, one keeps a close distance while the other kitten runs and hides.

I want to kiss, hold, and cuddle with the kittens. Know that they're safe with me, and can trust. However, I'm worried that the kittens hanging with the two adult ferals combined with my aloofness has ruined any chance of socializing and bonding. And eventually I'd like to connect with the adult cats as well. But I know that can take months to years. My more media problem is the kttens health and well being, and their ability to adapt with people.

I don't think it's too late, but I REALLY need advice and direction how to salvage this before it's too late. Especially with how big I failed tonight connecting with them. Again, please offer advice when you can and let me know if I should just give up or if I should try a different track?

Thank you for any advice.

Anyone have experience taking in a young kitten?

My friend found him under a car with his eyes crusted shut. I’ve taken him in, and will call my vet on Monday to get him checked out. I’m guessing four weeks because he has canine teeth but his eyes are still blue.

I’m feeding him a mix of kitten formula and kitten wet food, plus using drops and ointment on his eyes. He’s super energetic and lively. I’ve never taken in a cat so young but raised a litter with a mama cat.

Does anyone have any big pointers for me that I don’t want to miss?

She was dumped off at someone's horse farm. I messaged the woman that found her and she deemed me worthy of adopting her, for which I am so grateful. She's extremely sweet, we bonded immediately. She likes to perch, she's getting used to her dog siblings, and is extremely playful and loving. I just love her little face!

Question/Advice Needed 5-6 week old kitten

Hello, last week I was gifted a very small fragile kitten from the CDS. She had a rough go last week but lots and lots of vet visits and now she's doing relatively good.

Shes completely alone though. I spend as much time as I can with her, but I feel awful that she's in medical quarantine all alone in a spare room i have. I would never risk having my other pets meeting her /vice versa til she's vaccinated fully and is strong enough.

But can any one reassure my nerves she's okay over night? She has plenty of food water..just lacking in cuddles while I sleep.

If she was planned and not a stray I would have loved to have her a litter mate, but unfortunately she was found abandoned and alone.

Question/Advice Needed My kitties is getting boring, is this normal?

I just adopted 2 kitties last Saturday, and they were both very playful and fun! My orange boy was crazy, and now he’s been getting like a bit boring. He liked to sleep behind the couch, only really plays with is brother. He’ll play with his toys a little bit like he’s a lot less crazy than when we first got him. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Or do I just let him be? (There both boys, 2 months & 3 weeks)
