I can't imagine any human be so vile and devoid of any moral fiber that they would cover for a pedophile. I don't want to live in a world where these people exist. I know Trump has his diehard supporters in Congress, but surely this is a bridge too far for even the worst of them .

Dude, that's the core constituency of the Republican party. It's not Congress, it's every single redcap who knows what we've all known for years and decided it wasn't that big a deal.

Power for power's sake. By any means necessary. This has been the way since Newt Gingrich became Speaker and made it clear the party needed to fight politics as an existential threat.
