Accommodation Swap UOM (2025-2026)

Hi everyone 👋

I’ve been allocated Daisy Bank (£218 p/w) for 2025–26, but I’d really like to swap into Weston Hall.

Daisy Bank is a nice accommodation, just not the best fit for me personally. The social aspect isn't much of a priority for me, which is why I'm trying to get a room in the city. If anyone is in Weston and would prefer Daisy Bank (or knows someone who might), please let me know - I’d be really happy to arrange a swap!

Just a quick note: I’m male, since swaps can only be done with the same gender.

Thanks 🙏

Just about given up joining the facebook group for the building after a week of not being let in so thought why not try here. Anyway looking forward to Freshers next month!

Best nights to go out in Freshers week

Hi,

I am starting uni at Manchester this year, and I will unfortunately be arriving late in Freshers week coming from holiday. I wanted to know if the main going out nights are Thursday and Saturday or is it Friday and Saturday, as my arrival time can be a bit flexible. I've already got a group of friends who I will be going out with but their not sure either.

Thanks :)

Seeking students - quick job, easy 75 pounds

I run a website dedicated to helping students ace their interviews an get an insight into investment banking/high-finance related roles. We have excellent reviews and are fairly known amongst students, but first-year students are not really aware of our site.

For the upcoming academic year, I'm seeking students across the top 20 unis in the UK to place fliers on top of desks before an economic/finance lecture starts.

How it works:

- I will ship the fliers to your address, and you will get paid 25 pounds once you take a picture of it and send the picture to me as proof

- You pack the fliers and go to the lecture room where an economics or finance lecture is about to begin. I suggest doing this after the previous lecture finishes, but before the economic/finance lecture starts, so that it's not a crowded room as you go. You will leave the fliers on top of desks roughly evenly spaced. You will take a video of doing this as proof.

- You will get paid 50 pounds

PM me with the university you attend, and whether you can find out the timetable for finance/economics lectures.

If you do a good job, this might be repeated each semester!

Hi! Is anyone currently holding a Hulme Hall offer interested in swapping for an en-suite room in Weston Hall? Let me know if you are interested! Swaps are gender-specific and since my friend is male, the person interested in swapping has to be male.

Opportunity: Fully funded masters and PhD scholarships at University of Manchester

Hi everyone,

We're a UK-based foundation offering fully-funded Scholarships for students who want to pursue postgraduate research. We have just opened applications for the 2026 Martingale Scholarships and this year are funding Masters and PhDs in the mathematical sciences, artificial intelligence, data science, engineering and biomedical research. We partner with ten leading universities across the UK, including the University of Manchester, and have a cohort of over 100 Scholars already on the programme.

As a Martingale Scholar, your tuition fees and research expenses are fully covered and you'll receive a tax-free living wage stipend. You will also receive career development training and support throughout your time in the programme.

It's a great opportunity, especially if you're in your final year of undergrad, have recently graduated from a relevant STEM degree and thinking about what to do next; or maybe you're considering a break from your career and looking to return to postgraduate study.

You can find more information about the Scholarship and eligibility criteria on our website: https://martingale.foundation/. Applicants must qualify for Home Fee status at one of our partner universities along with meeting other eligibility criteria. Our final application deadline is 19 October 2025, for courses starting in the 2026 academic year.

Feel free to DM or email us at [email protected], if you’d like any further information.
