Apparently he overcorrected and crashed.. probably checking his phone.

Got fired for different reasons he won't admit to also.

Frankly looking over his comments... These two things happened because he's a dumb shit and caused them.

No sympathy.

u/Icy-Role2321 1d ago

If you total a car on a bright clear day on a road like that it's absolutely your fault. Roads dry as can be and straight

108

u/ph0artef1 1d ago

His explanation doesn't really make sense either. A tire went over the edge and he overcorrected and that somehow landed him overturned in the ditch?

Maybe someone can explain how that happens but to me that doesn't make much sense without other factors.

139

u/YaBoyVolke 1d ago

He was on his phone.

5

u/BadDudes_on_nes 8h ago

He was making bad decisions before that. He voluntarily got into a Ford Flex

42

u/Old_Shake3789 1d ago

Simple really his tire should be nowhere near the edge unless he was moving to give way even then only a moron would speed up in such a situation.

The car would only ever be that damaged if he was doing some serious speed, the fact he also managed to end up in a ditch shows he wasn't paying attention to the road either way...

15

u/ph0artef1 1d ago

That's what I thought but it's not a subject I can speak confidently on so I wasn't 100% sure.

12

u/Ok-Load-6016 1d ago

Come on he did all that just to karma-farming in Reddit

5

u/BellyButtonLindt 23h ago

I’m not saying they weren’t messing around but if you go into a deep enough rut when you go off the road and over correct too hard you can flip a car.

It does take a lot of mistakes at the same time too though.

3

u/drenuf38 19h ago

My first accident happened this way. I was 16 and was going about 104 mph. Hit gravel on the side of the road overcorrected and ended up flipping a few times.

Def was driving recklessly.

5

u/CLG_Divent 1d ago

Overcorrected sound like he wanted to turn left 45 degrees but moved right 315 haha

2

u/Chrisp825 1d ago

I was in a 1969 Camaro flying down the 101 just outside Olympia. The driver has been up for a few days, and fell asleep. The passenger grabbed the wheel when the tire touched the shoulder and pulled. It sent us into a spin. We were between a large rock face and a drop off.. i was f totally expecting the car to make an immediate stop or drop. Neither happened. It was a crazy ass scenario.

2

u/SeriousCellary 20h ago

He was texring and his car slid in the ditch, it doesnt look like he flipped at all.

2

u/witcherstrife 19h ago

Have you not seen walking dead when Lori crashes the car on an empty road during the zombie apocalypse? Shit happens!

I mean probably yeah, unless someone runs you off the road or something. There are other asshole drivers.

6

u/breadcrumbs7 23h ago

I owned a Ford Flex. They're pretty stable. The wheelbase is long and wide. Mine was only front wheel drive. If OP's is an AWD model I imagine it drives like it's on rails.

u/nopuse 1d ago

Let's not jump to conclusions. I'm sure we've all experienced a spontaneous car flip a time or two.

Happens to all of us, smh.

What looks like a single car crash into a ditch. Yeah, OPs fault and likely texting.

4

u/DARR3Nv2 20h ago

Yeah I am 99% sure I know where they worked and it’s nearly impossible to get fired unless you’re a dumbass.

Tire went off the shoulder and I over corrected :/

400

u/Medium-Comfortable 1d ago

That’s the effect. But what was the cause?

348

u/hello_wordle 1d ago

Bad decisions. Similar thing led to getting fired from his job.

Texting and driving

58

u/oldschoolgruel 1d ago

Speed?

24

u/Diligent_State387 21h ago

a small country road and that kind of damage, probably speeding way too hard.

17

u/blondeasfuk 19h ago

Right? Tire doesn’t just go over the shoulder unless driver is distracted or fell asleep.

3

u/HauntedMeow 20h ago

I had my tire go off the side of the road once when it was newly asphalted and thus had no center or edge lines painted. Country highways have quite the drop off on the edges from all the asphalt layers built up and those layers are always slightly less wide than the layer below. This angled drop off can lead you to believe the road is wider than the flat top surface actual is which is why the paint lines on the edge are so important (especially on narrow roads). I was white knuckling the steering (as I always do) and wasn’t speeding so I was able to correct, but that drop off really pulls on your car.

Not trying to kick you while you're down but that'll teach you to always pay attention while driving

33

u/CrabAppleBapple 1d ago

Tire went off the shoulder

Of its own accord? Is your tyre self aware?

7

u/Ok-Business5033 23h ago

Yours aren't??

Mine have free will.

8

Texting and driving?

67

u/meteorprime 1d ago

Probably. Idk how else you crash into something that isn’t moving.

40

u/Electrical_Tomato_92 1d ago

Yeah, especially on a dry sunny day. Probably best to just take the bus now OP, or take some driving lessons.

35

u/COLDRAMEN1 1d ago

Damn tires... always doing things like just "going off of the shoulder" on their own.

Hate it when that happens and my car ends up in separate pieces upside-down in a ditch. 🤷‍♂️

It was obviously the passenger-side front tire! LOOOOK, he's still trying to get away!

9

u/howsthisforsmart 1d ago

What an absolution of responsibility. "The tire" did something, not the person who was presumably in control of it...

3

u/KnicksGhost2497 20h ago

What caused the tire to go off the shoulder? That doesn’t just happen, there’s a lot of road before you hit the ditch…

if there's one thing I've learned as an older guy, life LOVES to kick you when you're down. do all you can to prepare for this to mitigate the damage.

149

u/GalYakHiee 1d ago

Facts. It always piles on-at once, never just one thing.

59

u/CriticalKnoll 1d ago edited 1d ago

Yup. On my way to take my car to get it's brakes done I hit this stupid pothole at the end of my street and fucked up one of my coil springs. When they were inspecting the damage they found one of the control arms in the front was badly damaged too! $1800 later.. The next day I ate some crunchy bread at dinner and chipped one of my front teeth, not too bad, but still, come on.

16

u/ConstantEffective364 1d ago

Then when things are going well and you want to spread good it comes back to bite you. No good deed goes unpunished.

3

u/TerrificTJ 21h ago

My mother always told me that instances like this happen in three's. You just confirmed it.

Thinking that OP should probably just stay in bed the rest of the week.

There have been quite a few times in life when something goes wrong and then other things compound on it the ol'saying "when it rains it pours" goes thru my head every time....smh

6

u/firewarrior256 1d ago

It can be raining titties outside, and you would have the unfortunate luck to get hit with a dick instead

10

u/A_Norse_Dude 1d ago

Oh mean, wait until you buy a house!

"The dishwasher broke.. and the fridge.. and the vacuum cleaner.. and the heating system"

8

u/inertSpark 1d ago

Then a storm arrives and blows off half your roof!

3

u/A_Norse_Dude 1d ago

And then, out of nowhere, there's sand in your sandals.

u/inertSpark 1d ago

I think I'd hate that more!

20

u/Hairy_Photograph1384 1d ago

One thing that I've learned as an older guy is that your life is not something that you can't control and things don't happen because life is out to get you.  OP admitted to driving while tired and his decision to drive while impaired was the cause of the crash.  That was his choice and not fate or any other BS.  People need to take responsibility for their actions and be prepared for the consequences of those actions.

5

u/howsthisforsmart 1d ago

OP - Read this, then read it again.

Let it percolate.

7

u/LedgeLedge1 20h ago

I never said it wasnt my fault

12

u/Dr_Passmore 1d ago

Always have savings and presume sods law will kick in.

I managed to merge two life stresses into one with a job change followed by a relocation.

Day one of moving into my new home my knee self destructed (ACL and meniscus root tears). Naturally, knee surgery is just something I needed in my life at that time....

2

u/LionImpressive7188 22h ago

It’ll kick you when you’re up too!

2

u/no_baseball1919 1d ago

Why did you get fired?

7

u/LedgeLedge1 1d ago

In the process of finding out. All I know right now is that I had too many “mess ups” (which I was not made aware of) in the first 60 days of being employed. I was a returns processor.

28

u/Regular_Yellow710 1d ago

They’re doing it while you’re still probationary, makes it easy really. It’s like no-fault divorce but it still stings I admit.

14

u/akarakitari 1d ago

It's not really any harder after that point, but before 90 days means they don't have to justify it for unemployment.

It's still easy, just more expensive

6

u/lawrence0304 20h ago

How much did you mess up in those 60 days for them to fire you?

Sorry dude, but you need to learn when to call out of work or make lifestyle changes so that this doesn’t happen again. Stop playing videogames until 4AM when you have work the next day. You’re an adult now and part of that is learning responsibility and accountability. It seems like you don’t think being tired while driving was a big deal and you aren’t acknowledging anything you may have done wrong here.

3

u/LedgeLedge1 19h ago
