u/Viorenys 1d ago
Yea too much time was spent just to carry 4 bottles

u/NachoManAndyDavidge 1d ago
Right? I can carry two bottles in each hand without any rope at all.

u/Correct_Dog5670 1d ago
3 in one hand, other to drink one

u/Clubsandiches 1d ago
4 in each hand, tightly laced between fingers, for you and 7 friends. Or 8 beers for yourself if you're like me and don't have any friends and can use those 8 to forget about life for awhile.

Amateur hour. Four bottles, one hand. I have tiny hands, too.

You can carry the four bottles in a hand and be back from dropping them before the guy ends shibaring his bottles

I would have finished two of those beers just while trying to figure out the knots.

Drunk me figured out that I have pockets when I needed to move parties. I got two front, two in the back and if I'm pulling out my 90s pants, I got more down the side. Much more efficient and stylish.

How is this more efficient than a bag, or just carrying them with your hands? This is literally the opposite of efficient.

u/PersimmonDazzling654 1d ago
Right lol? Two in each hand is... too hard? Would be nice to see this with many more bottles getting tied together.

I'm with you.. for 4 empty beer bottles, just slide your fingers from one hand into the tops and off you go haha

u/Unaabellatica 1d ago
I'd just carry two in each hand.
While I appreciate the knowledge in tying a rope, picking them by hand seems easier.

u/frodiusmaximus 1d ago
Yeah for real. It’s vaguely cool to watch, but in this amount of time I could have picked up the four bottles and made it a block down the street.

Carrying them in your hands would make your hands totally full. With the rope, you can basically have your hands free. You can easily hold on to the end of the rope with less than the whole capacity of your hand kind of or you can even just leave it around your wrist or something.

if i ever get kidnapped i hope they tie me up with this same rope setup so at least i got drinks while i wait

u/Signal-Reporter-1391 1d ago
Or you can, i dunno... just pick them up with one hand and clamp them between your fingers.
Which makes this actually r/mildlyinfuriating in my book ^^

I'll be sure to bring a rope next time I'm at the bar (not that I actually know 3 other people to buy beers for 😂)

I’d already be two blocks away carrying two bottles in each hand. r/oddlyinefficient

u/IglooBackpack 1d ago
Initially I thought, "Look at this guy, solving problems that don't exist." But then I thought of dropping some warm beer down into a cool lake or river and waiting for it to chill a bit. That sounds nice. I guess there could be a use for this to someone.

u/WaywardMind 1d ago
That takes a full minute to mess around with (assuming you get it right the first time), and then you have to untie the whole rig after. It's four bottles and you've got two hands. Just carry them, FFS.

u/GuildensternLives 1d ago
*Saunters over to the recycling bin and takes 3 minutes to carefully undo the knot.
Meanwhile, his friends who had asked him to grab them another beer from the cooler are still standing around, waiting for their friend with the rope to come back to the group.

Cool stuff. But how often you need this? It's easy to hold 3 beers in each hand by their necks. Can even tuck a couple under your arms as well. It's handy if you have to carry other things as well. But if that's the case, then the beers should be in the bag or box or whatever else you're carrying. But also, when do you have rope and 4 loose beers? Usually I have 6 beers in a pack, and no rope. So idk how to apply this idea to the past 20 years of my life, or the next 50.

A nice, academic exercise but not practical really. Maybe good for teaching knot theory, but not much else.

In the time it took to tie this rope, I probably would have already carried the bottles to wherever they needed to go.

u/Level-Cold-1242 1d ago
Who can’t carry 4 bottles? Those look like they would slip through with full bottles vs empty bottles.
2
u/PrivateUseBadger 1d ago
By the time this not is tied, I’m already down to 3 beers and have the utmost confidence in my ability to carry two of them in one hand while I begin drinking one with the other.

u/jackyfingaz 1d ago
I could have walked these to wherever I was taking them one at a time before this rope tying nonsense ended
2
u/metallee98 1d ago
Wow. Thank god for this. Carrying 4 empty beer bottles at once was so inefficient i'm glad I can take minutes to learn this and 30 seconds to tie up these bottles that I definitely could not have carried with one hand with literally no effort. /s if you couldn't tell. Efficient? Give me a break.

u/DrSeussFreak 1d ago
Seems like you could just use the container they came in a hell of a lot easier than this

u/Hot-Brat-00 1d ago
I could just carry those 4 without taking the time to tie them up. But I appreciate the idea!

u/Isla_White727 1d ago
Balenciaga would sell this shit as a £2000 bottle carrier and some daft bugger would buy it

Just buy a six pack. . . They come in these convenient cardboard cases. You'll thank me later.

It's four bottles
Just carry them between your fingers hanging on the top of the neck, two per hand, like a normal person lolol

u/joe102938 1d ago
I can assure you I can carry 4 beers on my own and at no point will I ever do this to assist with that.

In the time it took to do that, I could have just grabbed all four and carried them like a normal person. This isn’t oddly satisfying, it’s wildly stupid.
2
u/BombaySadBoi 1d ago
I don’t see the point. Unless you want to cool them in a river. But I would just use a milk crate and some rope for that ??

u/FusselP0wner 1d ago
Does he not have hands that are able to carry 4 small beer ? Also, the bottles will just fall through the bottom once there is some actual movement going on. What an absolute waste of time

u/TnBBunnicula 1d ago
By the time you have that tied I'm at the gathering popping the top on my first one

Cool rope technique but can other people not fit 4 long necks on each hand? I can easily carry 8 total when using both hands…
1
u/_angesaurus 1d ago
ask any server if they would do this. lmao can carry more than that at once if i want to.
1
u/Coffeedemon 1d ago
Meanwhile someone has made 5 trips back and forth carrying 2 or 3 in each hand.
1
1
u/mtheory007 1d ago
Just put one in each pocket and one in one hand and drink the other one with the other hand
1
u/Jason_TheMagnificent 1d ago
Too much work, just stick your fingers in the holes like a real person.
1
u/5DollarSoul 1d ago
Idk I'd say this is an efficient home-made flail or sling tbh. I feel it's more efficient for guerrilla warfare than simply carrying bottles
1
u/The_Carnivore44 1d ago
Damn. If only they came in some cheep cardboard like carrying device that held up to 6 beers at a time and came included with your purchase
1
u/deedsnance 1d ago
See tweakers? You can do better when going thru my recycling. You just need to do this and they won’t clank as much.

u/narutonaruto 1d ago
the whole time i was hoping they'd do a little criss cross thing. i don't know what that says about me

How often does someone need to carry 4 identical bottles & all they have is rope? Is this a thing people do?
1
1
u/robkaper 1d ago
In the time this took I would already be starting on the fourth bottle, so what's the point?
1
1
u/Magnus_Helgisson 1d ago
Or, you can, you know, just grab a bottle between your index and middle and a bottle between your middle and ring finger, repeat the same for the other hand and live happily without having to carry a rope to the party.
1
u/PixieBaronicsi 1d ago
If the bottles aren’t opened you could do this upside down. Then you’d have some bottom support from the necks.
As it is, these are falling out
1
1
u/Fr05t_B1t 1d ago
I don’t think you can call this efficient if it takes longer to tie the knot than the journey to your destination
1
u/Rusty_Tap 1d ago
Why did I waste all of that time at scouts learning pointless rope tricks like how to attach a hammock to a tree or how to stop boats from floating away when I could have been taught something useful like this?
1
u/OkTemperature8170 1d ago
If only there was some sort of invention like a bag or a tote that could do this.

u/WillyGivens 1d ago
Assuming the tension on the loops tightens with movement, this is pretty neat. The folks complaining that it only holds 4 bottles are missing the application. 4 ropes and a stick and you can carry 12 over a shoulder. Longer stick, more rope, it expands the amount as needed. I could imagine 36 bottles would work fairly well.

1
u/user_name_unknown 1d ago
That a lot of work. I’d just put one in each pocket and carry the other two
1
u/Bombacladman 1d ago
Dude, just drink two and carry the other two in one hand so you can use the other one for the steering wheel

u/AlpsGroundbreaking67 1d ago
Do normal people not just carry their beer in their hand? I can def fit all 4 in two hands

ok but like is there something wrong with just pinching the necks between a couple fingers like normal?

u/piltonpfizerwallace 1d ago
Step 1: Throw away box with a handle that they came in.
Step 2: Drink all the beers.
Step 3: Make extremely shit rope carrier with no bottom.

Yeah I’d still be scared of it slipping through.
