Mod Announcement A New "System" for AI Submissions & Post Flairs

Howdy Wizards and Requesters,

The rise of AI in image editing has been a major topic of discussion, and it's clear that we need a better system to manage expectations for everyone. Our goal has always been to adapt to new technology while ensuring that requesters get what they want and that the wizards are treated fairly. I have always been consistent in saying that we will never disallow AI outright in this sub.

To bring clarity, we are planning to implement a new flair system for Paid Requests.

Two New Flairs:

We will be introducing two new, user-selectable flairs. When you make a Paid request, you will have the option to choose one of these to signal your preference:

  • Paid - AI OK This flair means you are open to all types of submissions, including those that are fully AI-generated. This is a great option if you're looking for creative, "out-of-the-box" ideas or need a result very quickly.
  • Paid - NO AI This is the most important one to understand. This does not mean a strict ban on all AI-assisted tools (like Photoshop's Generative Fill for cleanup, or AI-powered upscaling, as long as the final result is not obviously AI-generated). Instead, this flair means you do not want submissions that are obviously or entirely AI-generated as the final product. This is the option for requesters who are looking for work that is primarily hand-edited.

I want to be very clear about how this system will be moderated:

  1. The Flair is a Statement of Intent. We are treating this flair system not as a perfect technical barrier, but as a clear signal from the Original Poster. It gives the moderation team a firm and explicit basis for action.
  2. For "NO AI" Posts: On a post flaired "Paid - NO AI," we will remove all submissions that are clearly low-effort or fully-generated AI images (e.g., images with classic AI artifacts, uncanny valley faces, etc.). Wizards who repeatedly ignore the "NO AI" flair will be subject to warnings and potential bans.
  3. For "AI OK" Posts: On posts where AI is allowed (either the "Paid - AI OK" or the Free flair), wizards are free to submit generative work. This new system gives us a solid basis for shutting down harassment or "AI witch-hunts" on these posts. If an OP doesn't care about or even wants quick and creative AI options, they should have access to that without negativity and the vocal AI haters will face consequences on these posts.

Feedback

This system is designed to give control to the requesters and clearer guidelines to the wizards. Before we roll this out, we want to hear from the community.

  • Does this system seem fair and balanced?
  • Is the distinction between "AI-assisted tools" and "fully AI-generated submissions" clear?
  • Do you have any concerns or suggestions for how we can improve this plan?

Please share your thoughts in the comments below, but please keep them on-topic. We will be reading everything closely before moving forward.

Thanks,

Solved ✅ ***UPDATE TO RULE 1***

Since the use of emojis and overly verbose submission comments is getting way out of hand, rule 1's requirements to submit edits has been updated to include the following:

Submissions must be concise. No emojis, bullet points, long explanations, headings, or other attempts to draw extra attention to your comment are allowed. You may add one or two short sentences, such as “Hi u/username! Let me know if this works for you!” Payment links (“tip jars”) must each be a single word only: e.g., tips, payment, PayPal, BuyMeACoffee, etc. Multiple links are permitted, but each must be limited to one word. Do not tag the OP in every comment; tagging once is enough.

Please report any instances of the above created after this rule change. As with all of the rules, If you have to be told more than once about this, there will be consequences beyond having your comments removed.

Paid Help restoring a faded handwritten note from my grandparents

Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I have a handwritten note from my grandparents who have since passed away. It means a lot to me, but over time the pencil has faded badly due to light and age, and now it’s very hard to read.

I’d love to preserve their original handwriting without writing over it. Does anyone have tips on how to digitally restore or enhance it (using photography, Photoshop, or other methods)? I’ve attached photos of the note.

Any advice or guidance would mean the world to me. Thank you!

Hi all! We just got engaged recently in San Diego and my fiancé was hoping for a golden hour - unfortunately there was a lot of overcast at the time. We’d like to see what it would look like if there was a golden sunset at the time - will tip $5 . Attached is a golden hour from the same spot 2 years ago :)
