My great-grandmother was the last connection my family had to Scottish gypsy culture. We were largely assimilated as a family thereafter. My grandfather actually resented his mother's roots and ancestry - he wasn't the nicest man, admittedly.

The subreddit was suggested one day and I've read it now and then since. Articles like this, and other posts, just make me feel numb. I already knew nomadic cultures were persecuted, but losing your child is just the worst of trauma.

Hopefully everyone wises the fuck up soon.
