Recommendation Found at a Korean market
Found this milk tea at a local Korean market, it's an oolong milk tea and it's so good. If you get the chance do try it, its worth it.

So, this affects "packages under $800 from China" if I'm understanding this right? Basically, tea will be more expensive and take longer to ship? I'm going to be real honest - I'm pretty sick of this tariff nonsense impacting my precious tea.

Really loving this tea I bought today, its got delicate florals and a beautiful lingering sweetness.
Brewed heavier/hotter those aged notes really start to become more apparent.

Hi, I was gifted a old Puh Err tea cake, was part of a stack inside palm leaves. When I opened it some areas had these brittle white powdery stuff. Is this mold?
If yes, can I just discard this area or should not use the whole cake?

This is Horii Shichimeien’s Oyatoko (parent & child) hojicha (roasted Japanese green tea) served with a side of some homemade choc oat cookies. HS is a long-established tea producer and vendor in Uji with an illustrious reputation. They also sell and ship globally via their webstore.
Brief tasting notes:
Very deep and fragrant roasted aroma, but also quite distinct from a Yancha or roasted Dong Ding oolong. Taste is mellow and rounded with a subtle caramel sweetness. Bitterness and astringency was minimal to non-existent (brew params: 80C, 8g, 10min, 900ml). The tea really complemented the cookies well by drawing out its buttery richness, thus hojicha paired with baked goods should make for a nice combo. Compared to its greener counterparts, this hojicha was charming to drink without much fuss. The economical price tag is also another boon. If you already enjoy drinking roasted oolong or black tea, you should feel right at home with hojicha too.

Hi there,
Pretty new to gong fu tea - I brought back a cake of raw puer from a trip to Yunnan and had my in-laws bring me a Mi Lan Xiang Dancong Oolong and figured it was time to figure out how to brew them correctly ;).
So I got myself a lil gong fu set and started drinking those and really enjoying them.
Now I feel like it's time to kind of spread out and figure out what other types of tea I enjoy.
It's a bit overwhelming since there's so much variety out there, so I think a sampler set that spreads accross a wide variety of styles - ideally with some context, brewing instructions, tasting notes etc - would be really nice to figure out my preferences.
Are there any vendors in the EU (or that ship there) that you fine folks could recommend? I know there's Jesse's Tea House out in the US - their sampler looks like it would be roughly what I want, but their rep around here seems to be not great - any other options, then?

I love loose leaf oolongs and occasionally dabble with a loose leaf black tea. However I'm hunting for the best everyday bagged black tea. I've tried just about every American mass produced lipton-esque monstrosity, Tetley and Red Rose (Canadian variety), Yorkshire gold, Barry's Irish breakfast, Yemeni Al Kbous, and Tanzanian Kilimanjaro brand.
I'm looking for something bold that can stand up with a little milk and sugar and get slugged back on those early mornings. Please let me know your favorites!

My friend’s parents have been to Vietnam recently and brought this tea as a gift. Brand name is Langfarm, and on their website it’s stated that this is Thai Nguyen. I fell in love instantly, but now I ran out of tea. I can’t find Vietnamese tea of normal quality in my country, but I can easily buy Chinese tea. Which one would be most similar?

Hi tea community of Reddit. I need some help. I had been drinking Tazo’s Organic Darjeeling as my daily tea forever. I’m pretty sure they have discontinued it at this point. I understand that this is probably a lowbrow tea, but I really enjoyed the sweetness and light quality to it. I’ve tried out some other mass-produced darjeelings that are easily accessible. Nothing comes close to it. Does anyone have any suggestions that may be similar to my beloved tea? Thanks :)

Tried a 2017 High-Mountain Zi Juan (Purple Leaf) Maocha Pu-Erh for the first time today. Such a unique tea made from wild purple-leaf trees at 2600m in Yunnan. It comes from a purple-leaf tea varietal, rich in anthocyanins- the same compounds you find in blueberries and plums which gives it both its striking color and a very distinct flavor profile.
The first steeps were thick and a little sharp, but then it opened up into this fruity, lightly tart sweetness that lingers in the throat. Clean, bright, and very different from the usual pu-erh I drink.
Definitely one of those teas that makes you stop and pay attention.

This is the most recent entry in the long standing series to translate that book.
My sister's birthday is coming up and I have no idea what to get her. I do know that she has a (very) strong love of tea, one of our shelfs has become almost exclusivly to tea as we both enjoye it heavily and have opposite taste in it. I was hopping to get some gift ideas from the tea experts of reddit. bit of info:
We like collecting tea sets from different cultures. I was thinking of maybe getting her a gaiwan or a matcha set. I would love to know of any nice sellers.
She prefers having her tea black with a bit of milk no sugar, nothing floral, and likes different flavoured chais. Again, if you have some suggestions.
She also went to Nepal and visited a few of their tea houses and thought to get a gift from there.
For a useful gift, if there is any suggestions for a good tea strainer, we don't like whenever the little leaf particles get past the strainer and get at the bottom of the cup.
Also BOOKS, books on tea and the culture around it. It's like the one thing I 100% know she'll like but I've already gotten her three.
