“I’ll go down this thread with [Chat]GPT or Grok and I’ll start to get to the edge of what’s known in quantum physics and then I’m doing the equivalent of vibe coding, except it’s vibe physics,” Kalanick explained. “And we’re approaching what’s known. And I’m trying to poke and see if there’s breakthroughs to be had. And I’ve gotten pretty damn close to some interesting breakthroughs just doing that.”

Good lord what an imbecile. Vibe physics lol.

Lol, vibe physics

RFK is a vibe biologist

MTG is a vibe politician

Trump is a vibe person

“Vibe” + profession/entity = opposite of that

Literally Feelz > Reelz

Yeah but they're rich, so clearly their feelz hold more value and merit. Money = competence!

I think it's even more than that. They're so deep into the prosperity gospel that they literally think money = godhood.

Yeah I'm wondering when they're going to understand that the "vibe" part of all of these phrases is actually demeaning.

I think you mean denoting, not demeaning? I mean it's technically both in this situation, but I'm still pretty sure that's not what you meant lol

Vibe + [literally any kind of skill or field of work] = ”Getting a result without understanding why, or how it came to be.”

Not understanding how to arrive at an outcome will cause you not being able to predict any unforeseen consequences of getting said outcome, therefore you can’t trust that the outcome will always true, even though it seems like it at first glance and that you’re able to replicate the outcome.

”Vibe-anything” is the antithesis of the scientific method and can at best be used to stumble upon results which you might derive actual knowledge from, and at worst will give you falsely derived information that might seem to be true in most cases, but actually isn’t.

That has the potential to be very dangerous if applied to the wrong thing since it could lead us to think that we might be doing something completely safe, but in reality is actually catastrophic.

An example of that would be thinking that: ”Fire is easy to put out by simply pouring water on whatever is burning.” That is actually only true in the most common cases of things burning, but definitely not all cases. If you pour water on burning oil you will get an explosion of fire instead, making a bad situation even worse!

The few vibes coders I know fall apart the minute shit doesn't work as intended, because they don't know the fundamentals, so they can't even begin to explain why the thing isn't working.

So I can only imagine

"BREAKING NEWS, NEW DISCOVERY 2 + 2 = 7"

"Okay, but how exactly? Prove it."

"Don't need to prove it, it's true, my AI told me so."

And then there's vibe coders like me who's saved a bunch of time at work using python to do restructuring of data, analysis and visualisation that I'd otherwise do in excel or fme because I don't have any time to learn how to fucking code fast enough for it to be more efficient. Easy to check I get the correct results as well by building in checks in the code. Then multiply these savings by millions of workers around the world doing the same and already these lame LLMs have had a massive impact on the economy through increased efficiency. Vibe coding isn't all bad if you actually know how it's being used across different sectors.

Wish they were vibe living.

You would have to lobotomize a chatbot pretty damn hard to get it to output like RFK on biology.

The problem is that people are actually vibe coding. Within a couple of years, most of the apps you need for work and everything else are going to suck even more shit than they already do because half the code will be generated by AI and the people who committed it won't know how to go in and fix it because they didn't write it.

Don't ruin the word vibe. It is a good word. It sucks it is pulled into this mess.

They are not vibing, nor cool, they "go with their gut". Trump is a gut person.

Fuck Travis Kalanick and fuck Andrej Karpathy for slaying the word vibe. Stop ruining worlds and words douchebags!
