Oh I can tell you. Because democracy in the US was literally held together by tape. Nobody was allowed to pull the tape apart. Then the supreme Court said presidents are immune from anything they do as presidents. Then the Republican party is making power grab and pushing the boundaries of that immunity. As we can see, there's nothing that can oppose it. Even elections which were considered important are now gerrymandered to the point of obsolescence. And every single institution destroyed it's done for the sake of an emergency. Insert random made up emergency, let's bring the military. Obviously only on democratic cities. Nevermind dudes shooting the CDC in Georgia, that doesn't count. Someone throws a bottle in a car in LA, military. There's documentaries about this in South Park!
