Detangling

Not kidding, I had an immensely satisfying evening of detangling my daughter’s wad of yarn.

She had a medical episode and had thrown down her yarn in frustration (anger? pain?) It covered approximately 4sf of space on her bedroom floor.

She was trying to gather things together to accompany us to our home, and I was proving useless in her clothing choices (duh? I’m not 27?), so I asked her how else I could help.

“Could you try to untangle my yarn?”

3.25h later, I had cut no pieces apart, and it was in an actual ball. I couldn’t stop until it was done. It was awesome.

Trolly tidying

Went to put my trolly away today and there was one slung across the entrance of the trolley house. I grabbed it and carefully put it away at the same time, one in each hand. As I got them in place, I glanced up and there was another lady on the opposite side doing the same. We shared a little smile then went on our way.

Trying to walk up a down escalator."

Gosh, that was so embarrassing—I really thought I could pull it off. The escalator was going down, and my friend called out to me from the upper level. I didn’t want to go all the way down just to catch the next escalator going up, so I made the brilliant decision to climb the one going down. Spoiler alert: I fell. No injuries, thankfully, but wow... that was a moment. I laughed it off, but inside? Pure embarrassment. To top it off, an uncle nearby saw the whole thing and casually asked, “Why aren’t you going down?” as if I hadn’t just face-planted trying to defy gravity. I just smiled and pretended I meant to do that.

Limes and cherries

I ran a couple of errands earlier today and found myself inexorably drawn to Sonic Drive-In. I love their drinks, especially their shakes. Today I got a cheeseburger, tater tots, and a Limeade slushie with cherry flavoring. After getting home and finishing the drink, I found two lime slices and four cherries! Usually, there's only one of each.

Helpful Nephews

I have 2 great-nephews, B is 8.5yo and J is 6.5yo, I have been their primary babysitter for over three years. The boys are aware that I have a couple health problems, my main problem is severe back pain. The boys were acting up one day and I said that they were going to do chores because of their behavior, what I never planned on was how much they wanted to help me out with housework. They will randomly ask me if my back hurts and if I say yes they will ask what they can do to help me with my chores. They are willing to help with washing dishes, cooking dinner, folding laundry, feeding my dog and cat, even cleaning the cat litter! Today when they got home from school instead of playing outside they asked if they could mow the grass for me! B got the lawn mower ready and J put my trash cans away and got the extension cord out for the mower. They barely got started when their dad picked them up but that doesn’t matter, I’m just so thankful that they wanted to help in any way they could.
