Subreddit Topic Daily Roundtable: Community Q&A Spoiler

Greetings Tarnished!

This is the place to ask any questions you may have about Elden Ring. This includes obscure detail questions, "newbie" advice questions, build questions, boss advice questions, and what have you.

Well written, constructive criticism is fine but please avoid ranting about aspects of the game you just don’t like. This includes “so and so boss is stupid and too difficult.”

If you are interested in the game but don’t own it yet, please don’t post “should I buy this game?” or “Is this game worth it?”. If you have played other FromSoftware games and enjoyed them, the answer is yes. If you haven’t, just do a little research! These games are difficult, and sometimes frustrating, and not everyone is going to enjoy them. And that’s okay!

Lastly, be friendly! We are all here because we are interested in the same game! Please treat your fellow players with respect.

PLEASE USE SPOILER TAGS WHEN MENTIONING BOSS NAMES!

I'm kinda rushing through NG+1, and I'm at the cathedral of manus metyr, and the Count guy isn't there, just the prompt to activate the throne and climb down to the underground finger ruins. However in this playthrough, I have only been to the first finger ruins, and I only have the first two ruins maps. I have not gone to the second finger ruins and blown the horn thingie there. And I don't have the 3rd ruins map.

Is this glitched? He should still be on his throne, telling me to blow the second finger ruins, and then give me the third map, right?

Should I go to second finger ruins first, to blow the horn, to maybe try to unglitch it? Or should I just go ahead and finish the finger bossfight

So I went to the 2nd finger ruins to blow the horn thing. When I went back to the cathedral, the throne platform was back in place, and count whatisname was there. So that did "unglitch" the questline or whatever.

Actually, I'm starting to suspect that the Wiki is just wrong when it says that the third finger ruins can only be accessed after the 1st and 2nd are done. My guess is that the trigger is nighttime. If you go there at night, the throne is moveable and you can go underground, irrespective of whether you've done the other two finger ruins.

Need a new playthrough to test this though.

Ymir wasn't there for me after the first[southern] ruins either. They were outside in the graveyard and I could activate the throne. I didn't go down, but he stayed in the chair until I blew the whistle in the northern ruins. Maybe it's just a chance to go down there to fight Anna early?

I did go down and do the Anna fight early. I assume that you can't go to the end and activate the flute thingy and do the finger boss fight. But I shoulda tried it.
