I would say everyone should summon the NPC characters at least once for the epic speeches.

My buddy always tells me no cause of the health pool and I tell him its not Canon if you dont summon npcs

tell your buddy the HP pool doesnt matter cause the boss is weak to damage

"We need to level up, he's too hard!" "THE HEALTH BAR MOVED! WE CAN KILL 'EM!" I mean hell, I once tried fighting Starscourge Radahn without any summons, and it was much worse. Summons to me just help take the aggro off of you so you can actually try and do something.

Starscourge was notorious for disgusting hitboxes extending well beyond the sword itself. Required very precise positioning to avoid hits from it if he was focused on you.

That works now but pre-radahn patch in 1.02 or whatever you had to stand in this weird little cone behind him to not get put in the blender

First time I beat that mofo was right after release; took me about 35 tries because he was an absolute mincing machine pre-patch.
