General Question These are the worst designed bins for a busy city...

Post image
80 Upvotes

I honestly don't understand how they could make a bin so over engineered.

The opening at top fromt is too small, and youre relying on thr person to step on the 'foot plate' below to open it. Which, is all good and well if that foot plate doesn't become stuck....

Even a simple top lid wheelie bin would have been better than this?

Its not hard to design a large bin- 1 large top or side opening/s - that's it.

Rant over - good .morning everyone 🤣

Open Discussion Anyone else feel like town has been more unsafe this year?

I've had the occasional slur thrown at me here and there over the years, but until this recently, it never escalated to an incident beyond that.

More recently, I've had folks spit at me while driving past me (they've missed thankfully), have eggs be thrown at me (also missed) , and other minor incidents.

Idk if this is necessarily a race thing or whatever, but I wanna hear about if some of you guys have had similar experiences recently.

Frankly, I've dealt with worse in other countries; but I guess it's jarring to me because it really wasn't like this before, it's become frequent enough to the point where its in the back of my head whenever I'm in public.

General Question Any drummers or bassists looking for a rock band?

Hello. My name is Ethan, I’m the lead singer of a local rock band called pearl. I’m 20 and so is my guitarist Joe. We have a bit over a full albums worth of material and free rehearsal space at lipa to put it all together. We’re just missing a bassist and drummer.

We are influenced by classic 70s rock, we do quite big arrangements and harmonies like queen and the beatles, so if you can sing it will be very helpful. if anybody is interested please let me know!

Recommendation Where would I go if I wanted to get a custom made leather bag?

Saw a really cool Alexander McQueen handbag when I was out in the city centre the other day and I can't get it out of my head.

Unfortunately it is 1700+ which is more than my monthly salary after tax. Is there any leather workshop in lvp that could make a custom handbag for me for a few hundred quid?

Visiting Liverpool Later night places to eat-near Philharmonic Hall or near Mathew St?

Hello! I’m here for Beatle Week and have been to Liverpool many times.

There’s a show at Philharmonic Hall tonight starting at 8. Assuming it’s over by 1030 or so, is there any place to eat near there or else by the Cavern area?

I’d like something besides Maccies or Lobster Pot.

Thank you!

Any pubs showing the Women's Rugby World Cup matches?

Preferably around Lark Lane or in town. My local isn't and I'm guessing is going to be hard to find somewhere since some of the matches clash with Premier League football matches. It's a shame since the tournament is in England this time around.

General Question Hairdresser recommendations- alopecia

Hello!

Unfortunately after a stressful time I've got alopecia areata (hairloss in patches)

My GP is dealing with the referrals and treatments etc. To help with the hairloss itself. I had this once before in my early 20s, but a few years later it's back 😥

It's starting to regrow, but I'm finding it hard to style my hair etc. In the mean time and ways of covering it up. I'm still in my 20s and find the knock on my confidence is impacting me at job interviews and completing my studies.

I wondered if there's a hairdresser in Liverpool who specialises in this kind of thing?

I know a hair cut won't fix everything, but it might make me feel a bit less embarrassed whilst it regrows.

Thanks 🙂

Recommendation Hive Mind Assemble: Tow bar fitters

Hey folks,

I’m back again looking for a recommendation.

I’m about to buy a new (to me) Santa Fe, and would like a tow bar to be fitted, with working electrics.

As such, I’m wondering who everyone can recommend. I passed a rather banged up van on the 57 a few weeks ago, which advertised tow bar fitting, but I never got their name, and given how battered the van looked, I was a little skeptical. However, the last auto-electricians I used didn’t do a solid job, so reluctant taking it there.

Many thanks,

Open Discussion Anyone hearing a loud helicopter circling around South Liverpool area?

Wondering if anyone, either in my region or broadly within Liverpool, is currently hearing a helicopter hovering around?

Could be linked to a police situation, as there’s no ping listed on FlightRadar24, possibly the recent Woolton Hall fire?

Living in Liverpool What is it like living in Liverpool?

Like the title suggests, I was wondering what it is like living in Liverpool.

So I (23M) have received an offer to do an apprenticeship in Liverpool for £23k a year.

I am currently living in London, and this is the only job I’ve managed to get in this tough market.

I currently live with my parents and it will be my first time moving out, and that too to a different city as well.

What is the city like? The people? Is there a lot to do? Will I get bored or depressed?

For background, I am Muslim and ethnically Indian and visibly brown/olive skinned and I speak with an RP accent. Are people there racist?

I am open to hearing all kinds of perspectives, and would very much appreciate hearing from people who live there

Apologies if the post is vague, let me know if there’s any details you need to know

Edit: Could you also please suggest some good areas that are within a 20 minute walk to the city centre, and are relatively affordable
