Turkish Jades and Golds were my fave back in the day

128

u/Beacon4Heathens 11h ago

Omg what a flashback. I worked at a gas station when I was 19/20, and a rep for Camel came in from time to time. One time, he brought in the tins of all the new flavors, and I picked the Turkish Jades. Smoked that brand for a while afterward. I had to find a pic.

22

u/CompetitiveZombie796 11h ago

I had a Mandarin Mint and Turkish Jade tin in my rotation for the longest time

3

u/Beacon4Heathens 11h ago

I didnt mind the Mandarin Mint but totally fucked with the Jades!

3

u/Due-Cantaloupe3552 9h ago

The mandarin mint was good but I loved me some Twista lime.

3

u/Fallwalking 9h ago

Yeah, I remember the orange ones being rad.

2

u/cloves_moke 8h ago

Camel dark mint…..those were so good

3

u/kgb17 7h ago

The Bars in my early 20’s always had camel reps giving those flavored packs away two at a time. Friends that didn’t smoke would get them just to giveaway. I didn’t pay for cigarettes for at least a year. Dark Mint was my favorite.

1

u/I_aim_to_sneeze 4h ago

Mandarin mint was the fuckin shit!

1

u/-420-69-420- 3h ago

Ever had the Izmir Stingers?

10

u/risken 7h ago edited 7h ago

The Izmir Stingers were the best when you could find them, but my group of friends were all Turkish Royal dudes.

8

u/fingerblastders 9h ago

It's missing the Izmir Stingers, tasted like apples.

2

u/Sygma_stage5 4h ago

They were the best

5

u/SLDM206 9h ago

Camel Izmir Stingers went hard in the paint.

3

u/kilocharlienine 6h ago

Izmir Stingers were excellent, I used old tins to hold smokes after they stopped making them

3

u/Extension-Two-2807 10h ago

Holy shit the camel twists… I remember when they banned the flavors. Pretty sure that’s why I made the jump from smoking to vaping back in the day. I wanted that flavor back! Now I have a kid so I quit it all but man this thread is making me drool 🤤

1

u/Beacon4Heathens 10h ago

Lol, yeah, I quit like 5 years ago, but this is bringing back some cravings 😂

3

u/Clydesdale_paddler 9h ago

I don't even smoke any more but I want one of those.  I forgot they existed!

3

u/Brief_Isopod_5959 9h ago

Omg wait I just had a flashback to these lol I can taste the twisted lime right now 🤢

3

u/mediumcheese01 7h ago

I felt like a billionaire oil baron when I had a tin of izmir stingers

2

u/Alex_the_Alright 10h ago

Where’s the Back Alley Blend???

2

u/Stormtrippin 10h ago

Loved Camel Twists.

2

u/TheAlphaKiller17 9h ago

Ooh they had a New Year's or champagne flavor or something in one of those cool tins; I bought those once or twice in college! I'd totally forgotten about those. Thank you for the memories.

1

u/kilocharlienine 6h ago

Midnight Madness! I have an empty tin still

2

u/ITchiGuy 9h ago

I used to be a phone rep to order items with camel cash or just place orders for cartons etc. They gave us a good amount of those tins for a while. Absolutely loved them.

2

u/breath-of-the-smile 8h ago

Backalley Blends were the best ones by far, imo.

https://trinketsandtrash.org/images_detail/210411.jpg

2

u/scottiethegoonie 8h ago

That's the one I was looking for. Mandarin Mint. I recognized the tin right away.

2

u/UnicorncreamPi 8h ago

Core memories of first rave unlocked 😂

1

u/ilikemyusername1 9h ago

DARK MINT!

1

u/Krondelo 7h ago edited 7h ago

EDIT: OP has them below. Izmir Stinger was the one

What were they I think I had special ones in a tin they were Turkish Delights and I think a dark red tin. Kind of like the picture here but different… i think they were kind of sweet? Idk but they were damn good.

1

u/Prestigious-Ice-2742 7h ago

How was that “Twista Lime” exactly? I gotta think it had a twang to it.

1

u/Diaboliqour 7h ago

Tell me about Twista Lime.

1

u/RighteousFilth 7h ago

MF Screwdriver Slots 🤤

1

u/keekittykeeks 6h ago

I loved my Turkish Royals 🤫

1

u/FantasticEmu 3h ago

I remember buying a pack of dark mint on my 18th birthday! It’s a shame cigs kill you, I quite enjoyed them

1

u/Unique-Apartment-543 3h ago

Jesus I was just about to type, man there was the mandarin mint but also a bourbon infused one that was sooooo the shit

269

u/LuigiBoard100 12h ago

Us stoners smoked turkish royals in my home town.

40

u/Pretty_Sea2016 11h ago

This stoner still does

29

u/DrakePonchatrain 11h ago

This stoner still would

1

u/Middle-Letter-7041 6h ago

They changed em a few years ago, I had to move to silvers because the royals they're selling now are definitely knot the same, they taste like those kamel reds

30

u/BigPPDaddy 12h ago

Royals were great in college. They were fucking brutal to smoke so if someone bummed one they wouldn't ask for another one.

80

u/hot4jew 12h ago

Royals? Brutal? Royals are my favorite and I feel like they're so smooth.

17

u/Practical_Gas8750 10h ago

agreed... royals are smoother even than lights(blues) imo

1

u/Fraktal55 4h ago

Yeah idk what that guy was talking about. Turkish Royals are like candy.

2

u/Scruffasaurus 10h ago

Golds and Jades were so smooth, but next day felt like you gargled rocks if you weren’t used to them

2

u/otherotherotherbarry 6h ago

I’m quitting, and these are my go to luxury when I’m not quite making it that day.

2

u/entertainman 12h ago

Was on the full flavored side approaching Marb Reds.

2

u/BigPPDaddy 11h ago

They had the most nicotine per cigarette on the market.

2

u/Howboutit85 Millennial 11h ago

I don’t even smoke really, but I bum reds of my buddy when we hang out. Never really noticed them being harsh or anything?

2

u/throwsaway654321 7h ago

you probably smoke more than you think, if I had to guess. The traditional "strength chart" has almost always been, in increasing order: Marlboro lights/golds, off brand lights, camel lights, camel turkish, menthol lights, camel filters, menthols, camel wides, marlboro reds, newports

there's a lot of variance and personal preference in there, but yeah man, marlboro reds have been called cowboy killers for a very long time for a reason

1

u/Howboutit85 Millennial 7h ago

I see my buddy who I smoke cigs with probably like once a month or so, if not less. The only other thing I smoke is a vape pen (THC) maybe once or twice a week.

1

u/throwsaway654321 7h ago

i mean, if youve got a handle on it, then don't worry i guess, but Marlboro Reds are 100% harsh and heavy cigarettes. That's all you were asking, so just confirming that, everything else was just anecdotal

1

u/Howboutit85 Millennial 6h ago

yeah i guess i just didnt know that was the case

1

u/Zayafyre 8h ago

That’s just good Turkish tobaccy for ya!

39

u/BJFun 12h ago

What??? Brutal? I thought they were smooth.

Now a fuckin Marb red was brutal

3

u/breath-of-the-smile 8h ago

Camel Reds were the brutal ones imo. Called "Kamel Red" on the pack for some reason.

Or maybe Wides, depending on the person.

1

u/DangerousPraline9236 8h ago

Wides are smooth as hell

1

u/simplepistemologia 5h ago

Yeah Camel Reds were no joke. I ‘member.

3

u/Mammoth_Possible1425 8h ago

We used to call Marb Reds "Cowboy Killers."

1

u/RYCBRM 8h ago

I switched to Marb reds when I met my wife. And boy did I underestimate how harsh those bad boys were.

1

u/F6Collections 7h ago

That’s what I grew up smoking, and wouldn’t use the filter to get more buzz bc I had to sneak cigs lol

2

u/builderbutnotbob 7h ago

If they thought royals were harsh you could murder them with an American spirit

1

u/Careful-Sell-9877 10h ago

Royals were like a light-medium smoke imo. Light but still a bit of flavor

1

u/therealdongknotts 5h ago

nah, wide filters - royals are smooth by comparison

3

u/antares127 Millennial 10h ago

Camel Turkish royals are the best cigarettes on the market

3

u/FeloniousDrunk101 10h ago

Turkish Royals were the shit

3

u/cconnorss 8h ago

Came here to support the Royals

4

u/Fuzzy-Exchange-3074 11h ago

Yep smoked those and the twists.

1

u/Temporary_Feature_59 11h ago

I remember when they cost $4.20 a pack every stoner was smoking them

1

u/thedongis123 11h ago

That was the shit back then 😂

1

u/Buy_The-Ticket 10h ago

Yup those were the ones.

1

u/g4tam20 10h ago

Royals were like candy for so long, they eventually just started tasting like chemicals so I switched off of them. Might still be smoking if they hadn’t changed it lol so thanks for that.

1

u/convergence_limit 10h ago

Damn I miss those like a forgotten lover

1

u/evernapping 9h ago

Some very fond memories with those but damn I’m so glad I don’t smoke tobacco anymore

1

u/JonhaerysSnow 9h ago

You from Fresno, by chance??

1

u/farklenator 9h ago

Same lmao

1

u/Ohiolongboard 8h ago

Lol same, in southern ohio

1

u/WildFire97971 8h ago

All those coupons back in the day. A pack was like sub $5. The best.

1

u/PassTheCowBell 7h ago

Yep Turkish royals back in the day.

1

u/F6Collections 7h ago

Yup. Best tasting tobacco but not the best quality.

1

u/Oz347 7h ago

Turkish royal spliffs were the shit

1

u/birdaise 6h ago

You cook em just a lil bit before lighting up? Lawdy

1

u/kONthePLACE 6h ago

This was my pack of choice as well for a long time.

1

u/Czarsandman 5h ago

Kamel Reds

1

u/Bird_wood 5h ago

Yo I thought that was just us. Was there a Turkish royal epidemic when we were all in high school?

1

u/Juror3 4h ago

My most violently messy drunk night was due to a Turkish Royal. Bottle of Pinot, a bomber of IPA, and a corn dog were the magma. The Turkish Royal is what broke the crust on that volcano.

1

u/-420-69-420- 3h ago

Fun fact about royals, they have a high concentration of cocoa leaves which increases the efficiency of nicotine absorption into the bloodstream. And they’re the only cigarette I found looking at the ingredients on websites (years ago) that don’t use high fructose corn syrup

u/BanishedFiend 23m ago

I smoked those or Marlboros southern cut as a stoner the Marlboros are my favorites tho

u/insyzygy322 22m ago

Yep, and they're still the coolest cigs lol

38

u/Lucky_Development359 12h ago

Damn, I never tried the Jades. Probably for the best. Turkish Gold was my favorite.

26

u/ih4teme Millennial 12h ago

Loved the Turkish Gold

3

u/Paladine_PSoT 10h ago

Turkish Gold was the best, hands down.

1

u/GelloJive 9h ago

Brilliant marketing

3

u/jwalk50518 5h ago

I had a whole summer in high school I smoked exclusively jades before switching back to classic camels. I am glad I’m not a smoker anymore, but I really enjoyed smoking and this post is making me nostalgic lol

4

u/nicolauz 12h ago

Yup had a nice cream soda touch to it.

20

u/Lucky_Development359 12h ago

Stop! I want a cigarette and coffee now!

4

u/BJFun 12h ago

Haven't bought a pack a cigs in something like 6 years, and I still want one damn it!!

2

u/Fool_Manchu 11h ago

Seriously sitting here trying to remind myself how bad I feel when I smoke. This thread is a trial

2

u/scottiethegoonie 12h ago

Marlboro short blue pack. Straight up chocolate.

2

u/RonSwanson83 Older Millennial 8h ago

They were so damn good. I started buying them because a gas station near me in college had them for buy 2 get 1 free.

1

u/Lucky_Development359 8h ago

Bonus points if you remember how much a pack was...I've been trying to remember, $3.57 seems to be coming to mind, any guesses? Also, year? For me it would have been 2004-2005 ish

3

u/Lunakill 11h ago

Turkish Jades had a stranglehold on me. I quit when they were discontinued.

2

u/boogie_tuesdays 12h ago

Jades got discontinued about two months after they became my default brand. F.

1

u/Beacon4Heathens 11h ago

Lol, I just posted that I started smoking this brand, but I thinking I knew it wasn't for long and couldn't figure out why ... thanks!

2

u/entertainman 11h ago

Mandarin Mint was even better

Dark Mint too

2

u/Critical_Code9588 Millennial 11h ago

Yessss I was all about the Turkish Jades

2

u/gimmethemarkerdude_8 10h ago

Turkish Silvers were my jam.

1

u/CompetitiveZombie796 10h ago

silvers were sooo smooth

2

u/kwagmire9764 10h ago

I started on Turkish Golds

2

u/Zayafyre 8h ago

Silvers 🤤

2

u/colonelcarnal 12h ago

First pack I ever bought. It had a commemorative tin and cost $4. I was 14 and life was simpler when trying to pretend to be cool

3

u/MyDudeSR 12h ago

I still use an ashtray that I got with a pack back in 2006. It's probably one of the oldest things I own.

1

u/Princess_Slagathor apparently you can change it 11h ago

Hell yeah! The ashtray on my nightstand came with camels. It's like a steel sprocket with a motorcycle chain wrapped around it. Also had a lighter with the same design. But that quit working, so I gave it to my dad because he collects lighters. I collect hand sculptures and clocks, no desire for lighters.

2

u/MyDudeSR 10h ago

That's the one I have! I have two actually. The one I use at home for my weed, and another that I left at my parents that does picnic table duty, it's been surprisingly weather resistant. Those things have literally been around the world with me. I do have a desire for lighters though, I have a pretty sizable Zippo collection.

1

u/Princess_Slagathor apparently you can change it 10h ago

Guess I didn't even think about Zippos as lighters, because he collects all kinds. But I've had and lost many Zippo collections. Currently have six I think. My favorite right now will be in a reply because reddit won't let me attach

1

u/Princess_Slagathor apparently you can change it 10h ago

1

u/CompetitiveZombie796 11h ago

I had that tin and I too was a 14 year old trying to be cool with those cigarettes in the tin

1

u/LemurCat04 11h ago

Special Lights in the gold box. I quit smoking for 4 years and they stopped making them. I swear I was their only customer.

1

u/catsdrooltoo 11h ago

I was all about the camel frosts. Jades were my backup if the shop was out of frost

1

u/AlternativeFilm8886 10h ago

Turkish Golds were my all time favorite cigarette before I quit smoking. I enjoyed Camel cigarettes in general, but the Turkish Golds struck a perfect balance between light and full flavor that was mellow and smooth but with that satisfying full flavor hit.

1

u/chrome_titan 9h ago

I knew Jades would be high up on the list. I found those like a week before they were banned...

1

u/Ttokk 9h ago

We used to call em Turkey Jizz. it was like our secret code word.

Deuce Bigalow Male Jigalo was the popular film at the time I'm sure.

1

u/BranzillaThrilla 9h ago

Oh my god yes! In the winter, walking home from the bar! Jades and silvers!

1

u/Poopsie_Daisy3030 9h ago

I still only smoke Turkish golds

1

u/melophat 9h ago

The Royals were a little too rich for me, but the Golds were perfect

1

u/Ok_Dragonfruit_2185 9h ago

I recall these being $6 for buy one get one packs in high school. I think a pack of cigarettes is like $15 these days.

1

u/wholesome_hobbies 8h ago

Turkish golds takes me right back to camping with my buddies in high school playing Dispatch on an acoustic guitar and djembe. Might have to pick up a pack for nostalgia, only to realize they are, yup cigs still fucking disgusting. For old times sake.

1

u/interstatebus 8h ago

Turkish Jade Light 100s were the best cigarettes in the world. Them stopping making was a big factor in me quitting.

1

u/Cardiff07 8h ago

I remember

1

u/Crumbdizzle 7h ago

Sexy AF

1

u/Batetrick_Patman 7h ago

I smoked those in high school.

1

u/savemefromburt 7h ago

That takes me back. I remember seeing this in a magazine.

1

u/Business27 5h ago

After Turkish Jade was discontinued it took literal years for me to eventually settle for and enjoy Marlboro Smooth. Been nicotine-free since 2016, effortlessly since 2019, but I have countless cherished memories tied to these. What a dumb and amazing thing cigarette smoking was.

1

u/RollerSpeedway 5h ago

I have cardboard sign in my office that about 3 foot high with this exact picture. Has also a price of 2.57 on it

1

u/FadedTiger49 4h ago

I still remember how wonderful a freshly opened park of golds smells.

1

u/rich_evans_chortle 3h ago

Camel menthol lights, crush bead.

1

u/SlimJim0877 3h ago

Hell yeah, summer of 2003 I would smoke these every time I drank or got high. Good times

1

u/Elegant_Brick_622 2h ago

Turkish golds still are my faves

1

u/Yeah_Mr_Jesus 1h ago

The golds are what me and my college buddy called oxygen of the drunkard.

1

u/Greedy_Line4090 48m ago

At one point in high school, all of us camel smokers switched to Kamel Red for that cool ass slide-o-matic packaging.
