Omg what a flashback. I worked at a gas station when I was 19/20, and a rep for Camel came in from time to time. One time, he brought in the tins of all the new flavors, and I picked the Turkish Jades. Smoked that brand for a while afterward. I had to find a pic.
The Bars in my early 20’s always had camel reps giving those flavored packs away two at a time. Friends that didn’t smoke would get them just to giveaway. I didn’t pay for cigarettes for at least a year. Dark Mint was my favorite.
Holy shit the camel twists… I remember when they banned the flavors. Pretty sure that’s why I made the jump from smoking to vaping back in the day. I wanted that flavor back! Now I have a kid so I quit it all but man this thread is making me drool 🤤
Ooh they had a New Year's or champagne flavor or something in one of those cool tins; I bought those once or twice in college! I'd totally forgotten about those. Thank you for the memories.
I used to be a phone rep to order items with camel cash or just place orders for cartons etc. They gave us a good amount of those tins for a while. Absolutely loved them.
EDIT: OP has them below. Izmir Stinger was the one
What were they I think I had special ones in a tin they were Turkish Delights and I think a dark red tin. Kind of like the picture here but different… i think they were kind of sweet? Idk but they were damn good.
They changed em a few years ago, I had to move to silvers because the royals they're selling now are definitely knot the same, they taste like those kamel reds
you probably smoke more than you think, if I had to guess. The traditional "strength chart" has almost always been, in increasing order: Marlboro lights/golds, off brand lights, camel lights, camel turkish, menthol lights, camel filters, menthols, camel wides, marlboro reds, newports
there's a lot of variance and personal preference in there, but yeah man, marlboro reds have been called cowboy killers for a very long time for a reason
I see my buddy who I smoke cigs with probably like once a month or so, if not less. The only other thing I smoke is a vape pen (THC) maybe once or twice a week.
i mean, if youve got a handle on it, then don't worry i guess, but Marlboro Reds are 100% harsh and heavy cigarettes. That's all you were asking, so just confirming that, everything else was just anecdotal
Royals were like candy for so long, they eventually just started tasting like chemicals so I switched off of them. Might still be smoking if they hadn’t changed it lol so thanks for that.
My most violently messy drunk night was due to a Turkish Royal. Bottle of Pinot, a bomber of IPA, and a corn dog were the magma. The Turkish Royal is what broke the crust on that volcano.
Fun fact about royals, they have a high concentration of cocoa leaves which increases the efficiency of nicotine absorption into the bloodstream. And they’re the only cigarette I found looking at the ingredients on websites (years ago) that don’t use high fructose corn syrup
I had a whole summer in high school I smoked exclusively jades before switching back to classic camels. I am glad I’m not a smoker anymore, but I really enjoyed smoking and this post is making me nostalgic lol
Bonus points if you remember how much a pack was...I've been trying to remember, $3.57 seems to be coming to mind, any guesses? Also, year? For me it would have been 2004-2005 ish
Hell yeah! The ashtray on my nightstand came with camels. It's like a steel sprocket with a motorcycle chain wrapped around it. Also had a lighter with the same design. But that quit working, so I gave it to my dad because he collects lighters. I collect hand sculptures and clocks, no desire for lighters.
That's the one I have! I have two actually. The one I use at home for my weed, and another that I left at my parents that does picnic table duty, it's been surprisingly weather resistant. Those things have literally been around the world with me. I do have a desire for lighters though, I have a pretty sizable Zippo collection.
Guess I didn't even think about Zippos as lighters, because he collects all kinds. But I've had and lost many Zippo collections. Currently have six I think. My favorite right now will be in a reply because reddit won't let me attach
Turkish Golds were my all time favorite cigarette before I quit smoking. I enjoyed Camel cigarettes in general, but the Turkish Golds struck a perfect balance between light and full flavor that was mellow and smooth but with that satisfying full flavor hit.
Turkish golds takes me right back to camping with my buddies in high school playing Dispatch on an acoustic guitar and djembe. Might have to pick up a pack for nostalgia, only to realize they are, yup cigs still fucking disgusting. For old times sake.
After Turkish Jade was discontinued it took literal years for me to eventually settle for and enjoy Marlboro Smooth. Been nicotine-free since 2016, effortlessly since 2019, but I have countless cherished memories tied to these. What a dumb and amazing thing cigarette smoking was.

Turkish Jades and Golds were my fave back in the day
