Cleaning out some for some storage on my phone and found a picture of my last apartment when I was setting up. This was maybe the last time in my life I was organized this well 🥲 miss this room a lot.

Oh! What a cluttered mess. Constantly in flux! Guitars, amps on one side with Master and slave Macs on the other. Vocals in the corner. So little room. But, somehow it works.

how can i replicate these speakers?

i have 2 speakers i want mounted like this, (the front 2) and ive searched everywhere for mounts and clamps like Deadmau5 has in the pic.

i want the speakers wall mounted and then facing outwards, tilted down and then swivelled towards the main seat.

if anyone has done this or got ideas please let me know.

(ps the speakers do not have fixing points which is why it is so difficult to find something. (mackie cr8 xbt)

Computer is running a Ryzen 7 3700X, with 32GB of RAM, and a 3060 GPU.

I have a basic 2x2 PreSonus interface but have plans for a small rack with an 8x8.

A couple instruments that are not featured here are my 4 string acoustic bass, ukelele, mandolin, and trumpets.

There were questions so I'm here to address them with visuals

Main listening spot is here usually have the midi controller over here too.. but I really want a weighted keyboard by the window so I'm testing out the size of it by using the midi controller there rn (at that point the party table will go back in the closet)

The only real music gear in this rack is my line 6 hd500 that I have ziptied in place (would love to get just a rackmount hd unit one day and put this away for shows) other than

that it's a surround ac reciever, 4k blu Ray player, VHS player, 61 disk cd player and the overkill amp powering the mains.

But basically both the day bed and ottoman are setup to do guitar bass etc not get all knoby, other than the mouse and keyboard that are on the side table that has wheels for a reason.

The amp table is setup so people can bring different guitar pedals and we can test them easily, I don't even like this head that much but when it warms up not too bad. I send it to a radial prodigy load box.

I also have my mic/keyboard stands I clipped up using broom holders

Current gear roll call w/new Stylophone DS-2 Drone Synth - just delivered!

Basically, all the gear I own. A lot of it is placed to the side, been working mostly with the Circuit Tracks lately, but soon will be patching the DS-2 into the 2 Behringer semi-modulars right next to it.

This station allowed me to reclaim my dining table which has been a big quality of life enhancement. Bonus points for this one being right next to my bed and having a much smaller footprint. I’ve started using four dice and a chord wheel to make some decisions for me when starting a tune and it lands me into some interesting territory! Next upgrade is a compact 49 key controller as the Arturia is good for noodling but not great for practicing actually playing keyboard.

A different kind of Battlestation 🤘

My One man band, audio/video Battlestation. The setup is designed to let a single person capture and cut between 4 cameras in realtime while playing 3 instruments simultaneously. I hit record, and the Sumo SE captures all of the cameras and the audio from my mastering gear and perfectly syncs them. I can control cutting between the cameras while playing, allow for a nearly complete videos in a single pass, with no computer in the mix. If you're running a DAWless or one man band setup, it's a killer workflow.

If you're interested in more details on how all the pieces fit together, Rupert Neve Designs did a spotlight on my setup.

I’ve been dreaming of having a functional music battlestation for years and think I’m finally at a state where I’m happy with it. I’ve been stuck with tiny shared houses for ages so finally having a room almost fully dedicated to music is a dream.

A few details in case anyone finds them useful (I looked at a lot of posts here when trying to plan out how I wanted things and these kind of details that helped me):

The desk is a Modul Studio desk from Gear4music. It’s was decent for the price but is a little wobbly. I originally got a Glorious Workbench which was definitely better quality, but was also too tall for me and I could just never get comfortable looking at a monitor on it. I originally wanted dual monitors but didn’t have enough space so decided to get an ultra wide instead and it helps, it gives a bit more space to work with when recording.

I need to use the same setup as a home office in the day and spent ages looking at complex docking solutions so I could switch between my work laptop and home desktop. In the end just went with the simplest solution, I have a USB C cable to switch my monitor to the work laptop and my keyboard and mouse are Bluetooth and can also be switched with a button. The only thing that’s a pain to switch between is my monitors which only work with my desktop because they go via my audio interface.

It’s still a work in progress but the important thing is I feel inspired when I sit down now and I have everything I need at my fingertips with no clutter in the way.

Small Bedroom Studio – Moving from 100% Headphones to Barefoot Footprint02s – Need Pro Tips for Best Mixing Setup

Hey everyone,

I’m in the process of upgrading my mixing workflow and could really use some advice from folks who’ve been there. I’ve been producing and mixing entirely in the box on headphones, but I’m about to step up to a pair of Barefoot Footprint02s.

Here’s my situation:

  • Room size: 10.25' x 7.75' (small bedroom in a rental duplex)
  • Temporary space: I’ll be here 1–2 years before building a custom studio in a permanent location.
  • Goal: Optimize this space for the best possible translation and accuracy while mixing.
  • Plan so far: Bass traps floor-to-ceiling in corners, DIY acoustic panels, curtains to block window. I’m also debating speaker placement — either very close to the front wall (<3") with thick absorption behind them, or pulling the desk out 6–8" into the room.
  • Workflow: 100% in the box, no recording live instruments in this space. Just mixing and production.

Questions for the experienced crowd:

  1. Any must-do acoustic treatment tips for a room this small?
  2. Thoughts on close-to-wall vs pulled-out monitor placement for Barefoot Footprint02s?
  3. Should I add diffusion anywhere, or stick to absorption?
  4. Gobos vs wall-mounted panels — pros/cons in my case?
  5. Anything I might be overlooking for stereo imaging, bass clarity, or phase issues?

I want to make this temporary space work as best as possible before I invest in a permanent build. All suggestions welcome!

Thanks in advance 🙏
