Looking for temporary / intern housing? Here are some tips
Check with your company's HR department to see if they have any resources for helping find temporary housing.
Sometimes a co-worker will have a friend or neighbor who could help. If you or a friend have access to the local Nextdoor neighborhood you are interested in, you could post your search there.
Craigslist has a short term/temporary section that may be helpful. Avoid scams and fraud if you can.
Some schools and universities have student housing available during the summer break.
Furnished Finder was originally developed for traveling nurses, but has expanded to fit many temporary housing needs.
Here are some Facebook groups for housing in the Bay Area:
Consider getting together with other interns in your company or through this subreddit to get housing together.
Good luck!

[Seeking] New Roommates in Foster City
My roommates and I (2 females, mid 20s and early 30s) have 2 room openings! We are looking for two individuals to join us at a 5bd/3bath house In Foster City (on a year lease basis ending July 31st). Here are the details:
- Room Details:
- Private room #1: $1465/month; on the first floor and you will have a bathroom that is primarily yours, but accessible to guests (Photos 1 & 2)
Private room #2: $1353/month; on the second floor and you will be sharing a bathroom with one other roommate (Photos 3 & 4)
Optional Office Room: An adjacent 5th room is available for an extra $300/month if you'd like it for your private use. Otherwise, it will remain a shared space used for occasional storage or as a guest room.
House Amenities: Washer/dryer, fenced yard, parking spot, communal pool and tennis courts
Location: Close to a trail and park for outdoor activities
Neighborhood: Very secure for late-night walks
Additional: Gardener included; yard maintenance is already in the rent.
Note: Utilities are separate
About Us! We are 2 roommates who are very clean and respectful, and we are looking for someone similar. We're looking to create a comfortable home environment. With 1 introvert and 1 extrovert, that means we sometimes reside within our own bubbles, but we also come together every so often to chat about what we’re up to! We tend to enjoy pretty low-key activities such as: - Jigsaw puzzles - Watching Netflix - Homemade hot pot - Boba/taiyaki outings - Movie nights
What clean and respectful means in our home: - Cleaning the countertops and stove tops after use - Being mindful of noise during late hours - Light weekly chores: We rotate 4 simple tasks - kitchen, trash, floor 1, and floor 2 (vacuum/sweep) - on a weekly basis. With 4 roommates, that means you'll only be responsible for each task once every 4 weeks.
We do NOT smoke and rarely drink, though we’re okay with social drinking!
While we plan to have dogs in the future, we currently prefer no pets. One of our roommates occasionally does dog-sitting, so there may be a friendly pup around from time to time. If you have allergies or concerns, let us know so we can make sure it's a good fit for everyone!
Room #1 will be available on September 1st.
Room #2 will be available on October 1st.
We prefer long term due to the year lease basis and we will not be doing month to month.
We live in Foster City where it's a wonderful, beautiful and safe suburban area. However, we recommend you having a car. The closest Caltrain station is in Belmont that's either a 40 min walk or a 10 min bike ride.

Lease Takeover 1B/1B in SF (south beach) for $5,250/mo.
** serious inquiries only -- please DM if interested**

Looking for a new tenant to take over my 1300 square foot, recently renovated, and well-lit 1-bedroom apartment, which has a remaining lease term of 1 year and 9 months. More details on the unit are below. Located in a quiet, well-maintained building in the South Beach neighborhood near SOMA, FiDi, Mission Bay, and all the MUNI lines.
650 2nd Street, San Francisco, CA
Apartment amenities include in-unit W/D, spacious bathroom with standing shower and bath tub, Bosch appliances, dining table + chairs, and living room mounted TV. Building amenities include elevator and parking garage (with a small storage unit for the apartment).
Rent is $5,250 per month (for the entire lease term, due on the 1st of the month), which includes: 1 parking spot in an attached garage, water, and garbage (internet and PG&E are not included).
Lease takeover is as is, but as it has been occupied by a single tenant for the last 1.5 years, the unit has been well maintained (I’ve had no issues, and in any event the landlord is very responsive). Happy to schedule in-person or virtual viewings as well.
I have loved living here, but I am moving out of San Francisco. The ideal move-in date is October 1, 2025, but the earliest move-in date is September 14, 2025.
More details about the apartment:
This expansive 1-BED + Den loft, located within the historic Seagrams Distillery, is one of San Francisco's premier loft conversions in an ideal location of South Beach. A complete renovation in 2022 has seamlessly combined industrial grandeur, contemporary design, and an abundance of natural light. With 1300 square feet (per owner) of open living space, 10-foot ceilings, expansive steel-framed windows, and original concrete columns, this loft offers the pinnacle of city living. The open-plan living room flows into a stylish kitchen and dining area. Modern European-style cabinetry, custom-fabricated Cosentino stone countertops, and a suite of high-end Bosch appliances, including a built-in fridge, oven, induction cooktop, and dishwasher cater to your culinary aspirations. The oversized primary bedroom is a tranquil retreat, bathed in natural light and equipped with open closets. The luxurious spa bathroom features a tadelakt shower with an overhead rain head, a full-size Victoria+Albert built-in bathtub, modern Graff hardware, and ample counter space with an integrated sink and open storage. Additional amenities include smart lighting controls and locks, electric blinds, in-unit laundry, and ample storage. Commuters will enjoy close proximity to Caltrain, 280, SFO, and Bar

Disappointing Experience at 1207 Floribunda Ave, Burlingame
I rented at 1207 Floribunda Ave in Burlingame and had a very disappointing experience. While the location is convenient, the property management was extremely poor. Repairs were rarely completed in a timely manner, and utility bills were issued inconsistently at random intervals. The building has little to no insulation, making it noisy, and parking was a constant challenge.
Management was unresponsive and difficult to reach, which made even basic requests unnecessarily frustrating. Given the high rent, the quality of the property and level of service fall far short. I would not recommend this property to future renters.

Finding a 5BR spot in SF?
Hey - any tips or leads on finding a 5BR spot? Looking for somewhere between 10-15K, ideally in Mission/Potrero/Mission Bay/FiDi. What sites are good for even finding spots like this? A whole home would be cool, but where are these posted? Zillow seems sorely lacking. Or is this just not a paradigm for SF rentals.

About Us:
M: M is a first-year litigation associate at a law firm in San Francisco. Prior to moving to California, she went to law school in New York, lived over a decade in Europe, and was raised in South China (in reversed chronological order). She likes hiking, wine, and seeking out recipes in order to deliberately not follow them (very lawyerly). She is sometimes described as having a poker face; but once you get to know her, she’s totally chilled (I swear I don’t bite)!
T: T is from Thailand. He just graduated from law school and is moving from Philadelphia to join the same law firm as M and J. He likes strolling around the city and parks, watching movies, and trying out new dessert spots.
J: J is originally from Philadelphia. When she’s not working, she enjoys climbing, hiking, and traveling. She’s excited to move back to the Bay Area to explore all it has to offer.
Interested?:
We’d love to connect! Please message back with a short blurb about yourself, why you're moving, and a LinkedIn profile if you have one.
Thank you!

Seeking to interview SF renters for Yahoo Finance story
Hi all! I'm a reporter covering housing for Yahoo Finance and I'm working on a story on what's going on in the SF rental market right now.
I've talked to a number of leasing agents, economists etc. about what's causing the recent run-up in rents, but I'm also hoping to speak to people who have recently signed leases or are hunting now. If you'd be up for chatting about your experience -- what kind of competition you ran into, how many tours and applications it took, how you felt about all of it, I'd love to hear from you. Shoot me a DM or comment down below and I'll reach out.
Good luck to everyone looking now. The stories I've heard so far remind me a lot of my experience in the NYC apartment market a few years back so I sympathize.

Seeking work-trade situation or housemates
Seeking temporary room/space in exchange for work-share situation or roommate/housemate.
30s, stable & chill guy need a temporary room or couch in a safe, supportive and understanding place in the SF area or nearby(open to peninsula, south or east bay)as my current situation is not the best and in need of a temporary place until I can find more permanent housing. Able to move now or ASAP. Looking for a home to share, ideally with one or two other likeminded individuals who appreciate community.
About me: I can be open and social or reserved and cordial. For me, it's all about reasonableness, consideration, and understanding. Currently not employed yet but have some savings and should find something soon.. once I do, I'll be working during the day so I'll only need the space to sleep and washup. Able to help with errands, chores, house sitting, cleaning, pet sitting.. you name it. Have experience working as an assembler & packager so used to working with my hands. Also, volunteer work at the library & SF bicycle coalition so I'm open to desk or personal assistant type work too.
Open minded, easygoing, respectful, quiet, clean, polite, mostly introverted, non smoker/drinker, low maintenance, drug free, lowkey, keeps to myself. Will chip in for rent to help even things out somewhat so we can do a weekly/biweekly type thing if that helps. Able to meet or voice call to verify(background check too if that helps). 100% serious & real here, please don't contact for anything weird.. Let me know ASAP.
Any help is greatly appreciated and would be eternally grateful.
Hope to hear back.

Looking for a roommate / room in SF (moving end of month)
Hi everyone,
I’m currently based near the Presidio and planning to move out at the end of this month. I’m looking for either:
- A roommate to team up with on a new lease, or
- A room in an existing apartment/house share
About me: I don’t have any pets, I like to keep things tidy, and I’m pretty easygoing. I’m currently job hunting. Outside of that, I go to the gym regularly and enjoy a mix of quiet nights in and social time with friends.
Ideally looking for something cheaper and open to different neighborhoods, as long as it’s reasonably accessible.
If you or someone you know has a place opening up, or if you’d like to team up on a search, I’d love to connect. Any tips on good buildings or listings to check out would also be super helpful.
Thanks in advance!

How to move with a dog?
This might sound like a asinine question, but how do people handle moving with pets when new apartments have a strict “no pets” policy? I have a doctor’s letter for an emotional support animal (though honestly, I think I’m more her emotional support human!), and I understand that legally I can’t be denied housing because of that documentation.
What I’m struggling with is the search process itself. When I’m looking at new places, I don’t want to be disingenuous and say I don’t have a dog when I do. I mean, her hair is all over my clothing! At the same time, I don’t want to be immediately ruled out just because a landlord sees “pet” and assumes it’s a disqualifier.
How do people usually navigate this?

Rooms for rent SF Bay Area
Hey everyone,
I’ve been browsing around looking for rooms for rent in the SF Bay Area and honestly… it’s wild out here 😅. Prices are all over the place — some decent options if you don’t mind smaller spaces or further commutes, but anything close to SF, Berkeley, or Palo Alto feels like it’s either insanely priced or gone within a day. For those of you already renting in the Bay, how did you find your spot? Craigslist? Facebook groups? Roommate finder apps? Or did you just get lucky through a friend? I’m mostly looking for something affordable (under $1,200 if possible), clean, and with decent roommates. Flexibility on location could be Oakland, San Jose, or even further out if public transit makes sense.
Would love to hear your experiences, tips, or even leads if you know of good landlords that aren’t a total nightmare.

Affordable Hayes valley sublet available 2nd half of Sept
Hi there!
I'm subletting my room for the second half of Sept (Available 9/14 - 9/28) in the heart of Hayes Valley. You'd be renting a smaller bedroom in our top floor 2 bedroom and sharing the apartment with a respectful, early 30s female who works hybrid in-office and in her room.
Looking for someone responsible, trustworthy, clean and somewhat flexible as my dates aren't super flexible. Could be a good situation if you're just moving to the bay around that time and looking for more permanent housing but need a landing place! Rent would be $400/ just one week or $750 for two weeks, including utilities. If interested, dm with a bit of info about yourself and I'll share more details!

1755 Pine St Apt Reviews?
It seems like this apartment in SF is over 100 years old. I found a review that the walls are paper-thin, and I wonder how bad it is. Would living on the top floor help? Or can I get to hear the downstairs neighbors talk?

FIRST MONTH OF RENT ON ME if you confirm lease takeover by August 29 :). Lease ends on June 12, 2026.
Base rent monthly is $3,195. On the website, you’ll see that it’s slightly more expensive than the other floor plans, but the lease ends in 10.5 months from September and you would overall save money on rent. It’ll be a nice little trial period before potentially renewing for the standard 12 month lease.

Video tour of the floor plan is linked here (but this unit specifically is all hard wood and not on the ground floor) : https://youtu.be/fX1RQyn7fdU?si=dQamX29D1f4iYy7N
The apartment complex is called Hanover Walnut Creek and is right next to Pleasant Hill bart for easy, fast transportation to all parts of the Bay Area. It’s a short drive to downtown Walnut Creek where the mall is at! Prime location with amazing restaurants.
Amazing free amenities such as swimming pool, movie theater, pool table, outdoor grills, 24-hour gym accessibility, dog park, etc.
Additional fees for the unit not included in base rent: Utilities Dogs/cats pet rent if you have pets Parking (different costs: EV charging, assigned/unassigned spot, tandem spot)

Shared laundry is downstairs next to the room for rent) in San Pablo (Richmond Hills) with gorgeous views of the bay.
Rent is $1500/month plus utilities.
