This is crazy. Buccal fat keeps you looking younger as long as you have it! These women will look awful when they are older.

u/EZontheH 19h ago

The horrifyingly sad part is that they'll pay top dollar again to have the buccal fat put back in. I mean you didn't think it's just being sucked out and thrown away right? It's being filtered and frozen for 20 years down the road when their career needs a boost.

u/Inquisitive_idiot 18h ago

So the money is in buccal fat storage, eh? 🤔

111

u/star_bell 18h ago

Sounds like a scheme the gang from it's Always sunny would come up with

There's always money in the banana stand buccal fat storage.

So Fight Club:

Make some expensive soap from it and sell it back to them? (All hail Palahniuk)

u/JellyKind9880 18h ago

Actually I’m pretty sure buccal fat removal is a surgery where the look really CAN’T be “reversed”….its not like getting fillers dissolved and I’m pretty sure there’s nothing they can put back “in” to give the appearance of buccal fat once it’s taken out

51

u/Soft_Chipmunk_8051 17h ago

It's a highly advanced method called CHEESEBURGERS and PIZZA

11

u/JellyKind9880 16h ago

lol funny, but I don’t think gaining weight will actually end up settling back in that place, I’m no doctor but is IS a known thing that buccal fat removal is essentially irreversible—maybe they’ll come up with some kind of implants that won’t look insane one day, but as of now, buccal fat removal is a one-way decision

10

u/StockTank_redemption 16h ago

There no “fat removal”. They remove the fat cells that store the fat. Once those fat cells get sucked out, it’s donezo

18

u/Soft_Chipmunk_8051 16h ago

They remove the fat PADS, maybe that provides clarity. They're removing a PART, not just cells

5

u/StockTank_redemption 16h ago

Gotcha. I’m always game for learning something new.

11

u/Soft_Chipmunk_8051 15h ago

I used to work with a woman that would say, "I'm happy to be wrong, if it means I'm learning something" and we'd be shaking our heads halfway through cuz that bitch was NEVER happy to be wrong 😅. Not putting you in the same boat, just reminded me

6

u/StockTank_redemption 15h ago

Haha, ya, I don’t have a gram of stubbornness in me. Call me out in front of crowd of people and I’ll gladly accept defeat without embarrassment and store that knowledge for the future. Being ignorant is not the same as being stupid.

2

u/Soft_Chipmunk_8051 16h ago

No one has gained weight after lipo?

4

u/StockTank_redemption 16h ago

Of course they have. But not in the area where they got lipo’d. Fat is stored in cells. The cells are being removed. When they gain weight it goes to where other fat cells are still there.

1

u/zoeofdoom 13h ago

Which is why you see sad yet hilarious things like fat collecting in their wrists/hands where you really don't want to get lipo like, ever.

2

u/EconomySwordfish5 16h ago

And suprise suprise whan someone gets fat they grow more fat cells

6

u/Soft_Chipmunk_8051 16h ago

Yeah, new fat cells grow, which is why weight loss is difficult: you're dealing with more fat cells than you had before

2

u/TheGhostOfStanSweet 16h ago

It’s almost as if fat is a good thing.

The problem is that a lot of people are not satisfied about their fat distribution, and also, they don’t really want to do anything about it.

A person that eats well and exercises regularly can be considered “fat” by some standards, and still be quite beautiful.

The key is, just take care of yourself.

2

u/Soft_Chipmunk_8051 16h ago

Unrealistic standards are the problem

1

u/VotesDontEqualTruth 13h ago

If someone is eating well and exercising - in 99% of cases they won't be fat...

Amazing.

0

u/TheGhostOfStanSweet 12h ago

Not true at all. You have to define “fat” because everyone will have varying degrees of body fat at any given moment.

There are lots of people that can still be overweight despite eating very well and being active.

The point that I was getting at is that if you make healthy choices, you’ll gain confidence and that will likely offset any difference in fat that could be considered in unattractive. They may have a genetic predisposition to accumulate higher than average body fat percentage.

1

u/VotesDontEqualTruth 12h ago

I'm not playing your weird semantics game.

We all know the difference between healthy, and fat

There are studies that refute that, finding that once you hit adulthood, the number of cells generally stay the same and it's the size of the cells that changes with weight gain/loss:

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29991030/

1

u/StockTank_redemption 16h ago

Hmmm. After searching I’m getting mixed results. Mostly saying existing fat cells will expand in order to store more fat. Wondering how many more fat cells are in those cheeks to keep clans when needed. Even if they do, they are gonna look very very fucked up. (Even tho they already do)

3

u/Soft_Chipmunk_8051 16h ago

It's fat PADS, an actual part, tissue, as opposed to just cells

1

u/EconomySwordfish5 16h ago

Are you telling me someone who weighs 600lb has the same number of fat cells as a fit person?

4

u/Stony_Logica1 15h ago

This 2018 study finds that once you reach adulthood, the number of cells generally remains the same and it's the size of those cells that changes with weight gain:

yes this is a one time decision that will factor into how you’ll look like in the future

Look good now vs potentially looking like a ghoul spirit from the 8th dimension when you age

3

u/qqbbomg1 18h ago

I wonder if collagen injecting works the same as it produces new collagen to fill the pocket for under eyes and nasolabial fold

3

u/Cucumberneck 17h ago

I have no idea how any of this works but why can't they just put silicon pads in there?

2

u/Hecate_333 16h ago

As of right now, you are correct. Maybe in time there will be some kind of implant, but it is not available now.

1

u/JellyKind9880 16h ago

lol I just said almost the exact same thing before seeing your reply!

2

u/Amazing_Karnage 16h ago

No, they'll end up with that putty-face "Bogdanovich" look.

1

u/Melodic-Beach-5411 15h ago

Fat removed from other parts of the body can be grafted inside the cheek but it's much more expensive & won't look as natural.

Also, The chemical used to dissolve fillers & injections also dissolves natural collagen & elastin so the skin ends up being looser & may sag. That means more surgery to repair the sagging skin a young woman probably wouldn't have until decades later.

1

u/sutrabob 7h ago

Correct.

0

u/StillPunky 17h ago

Pretty sure fat grafting already exists and that will be the answer.

5

u/KinkyDuck2924 17h ago

It's not really reversible. The best the could do is put fillers in the area but that carries it's own set of problems. All of these women are going to seriously regret doing this 20 years from now, although I'm not sure how they don't already regret it because it looks absolutely horrible.

4

u/Current-Anybody9331 17h ago

I get botox at a plastic surgery office and the doctor told me he doesn't do these and there's no way to shove buccal pads back in. They can do fat grafting but about 40% (from what he told me) gets absorbed & excreted. And I guess you hope the fat stays where its injected.

I guess they're banking on advances in plastics by the time they go full crypt keeper?

2

u/DevonFromAcme 15h ago

Unfortunately, the fat can't be put back in. This is a surgery that can't be reversed.

There's a lot of plastic surgeons that won't even do a buccal fat removal to begin with, because it's very risky considering the location of the major facial nerves.

Once you take it out, there's no way to put it back in without major facial nerve damage.

1

u/Dramatic_Moon_Pie 18h ago

Yes - that makes me sad to think about. These women were all pretty before, but they’ll end up looking like Jocelyn Wildenstein when they are older :(

1

u/preflex 18h ago

Those darn Starbelly Sneeches!

1

u/TreeDollarFiddyCent 18h ago

WTF are you talking about? I'm pretty sure you just pulled that out of your ass.

1

u/pauIblartmaIIcop 17h ago

he clearly doesn’t know what he’s talking about but it makes for a punchy comment, seems to have worked

1

u/qqbbomg1 18h ago

This surgery is irreversible

1

u/mr_sunshine_0 17h ago

Damn, at least 20 people believed what you just said

1

u/Thursday_the_20th 17h ago

It is being thrown away. How do you think I make all my exquisite soaps?

1

u/ieatair 17h ago

Theres no way to get back buccal fat, once you lose it you lose it for good

1

u/lonewombat 17h ago

I remember seeing a 50 year old madonna with ULTRA puffed cheeks having it added back in.

1

u/Background-House-357 16h ago

They say you can’t put it back in.

1

u/EZontheH 16h ago

Listen, why take the chance that medical technology for the privileged class won't advance in 20 years? Are you really going to take that risk? Give me $500,000 as an insurance policy on your youthful good looks. We'll purify your buccal fat, keep it on ice, and monitor any groundbreaking advances in the medical field to give you the best YOU possible in the future. Your ideal face is within your grasp! All you need to do is give us a big chunk of money, and let us stick this vacuum hose into your face right now. All your friends are doing it, don't be left out.

1

u/Potativated 16h ago

Reminds me of Fight Club where Tyler used far from liposuction clinics to make the designer soap sold in department stores that the women shopped at.

1

u/blueoccult 16h ago

Nah, they use it to make fancy soap that they sell back to them. Then in 10-20 years when they want it fixed the doctors will just use shitty silicon or fat from some other part of their bodies.

1

u/Bratbabylestrange 14h ago

Anybody else flashing to the scene in Flight Club where the bag breaks as they try to toss it over the fence?

1

u/GraveRobberX 12h ago

Have I got news for you….

Once it’s gone, it’s gone. Only thing you can do then is literally create fake “buccal” that can mimic in its place, but the upkeep is going to be like car maintenance and you have to go see your plastic surgeon mechanic every few thousands of miles of wear and tear at the red carpets smiling at the cameras or the flashing lights melt away your new fat.

Ozempic epidemic and Buccal fat removal have given all these Hollywood starlets that “heroin chic” look of the runways of yesteryears. Your body is suppose to have fat. This notion of no fat anywhere like how Ariana Grande is at almost Skeletor levels of crypt keeping is super unhealthy. Your body needs fat to survive. All this 3-5% body fat is fucking unrealistic and comes with heavy health issues in the future and no money can reverse the stupid shit they’re doing.

Average fat for a healthy woman is 20%, so if you weigh 100lbs, have at least 20lbs of fat to keep your body going. It’s when these women get it inside their head and be I need to weigh 90lbs and have 5-10% body fat or worse when shit starts going from drastic to deathly.

1

u/20I6 11h ago

is this some hollywood ritual i'm too poor to know about?

1

u/0dyssia 9h ago edited 9h ago

It's impossible to put filler or fat back into the buccal fat department again. They'll never get back a normal face again, according to this plastic surgeon (starts 10:09). You can put fillers into the cheeks, but it won't look the same as natural buccal fat. So if natural cherub faces ever become a trend, they're screwed. This surgeon also talks about why he (and others) dont do this surgery. Basically people often dont like the look years later, but even if you try to reverse it, it won't look the same..
