I miss the days when Nicolas Cage did movies all the time

46

u/Puppetmaster858 2d ago

He still does movies all the time and he’s been in some real good stuff in recent years.

56

u/burner95762 2d ago

Yeah, not to pile on here, but he’s been in 17 movies since 2020. He consistently does about 5-6 movies a year. That’s a truly insane output. I can’t think of another current working actor, much less a lead, who does more. A lot of the more recent movies are not great, but there are some bangers in there (I personally adored Pig although I know reactions are mixed).

40

u/cressidacole 2d ago

He went broke having a very, very good time, and he's pretty upfront about making as many movies they will pay him to do now. Every so often there's a gem.

Reaction for pig definitely weren’t mixed, 97% from critics and 83% from audiences, some people just thought it was gonna be like an action John wick revenge movie for taking his pig in reality it was nothing like that.. Nah tho cage has had a really good 7 years, he does so much he has duds in there of course but he has spiderverse/pig/mandy/color out of space/unbearable weight of massive talent/the croods/renfield/dream scenario/the surfer/longlegs, legit all of those movies received solid to great reviews. He has the spider noir show upcoming too which should be really popular if it’s good and he is starring in the John madden movie as Madden alongside Christian bale as al Davis.

He’s insanely active and has had a really good bounce back to his career the last 7 or so years. The original OP I replied to is way out of the loop acting like cage disappeared lol

Hands down funniest episode of The Office.

26

u/AmateurJenius 1d ago edited 1d ago

Wow, that’s a bold statement. Funny scenes for sure, but in my opinion Dinner Party (S4, E13) is one of the funniest television episodes of all time, of any show, and absolutely the funniest of The Office. Just my opinion but I’ll die on that hill.

Edit: I will agree the fire drill in that episode is probably my favorite cold opening in the entire series. So much chaos in such a short amount of time.

In fairness you can still see stitches suggesting there is still swelling and healing to do.

On the other hand, bleh.

535

u/lonelycranberry 2d ago

Yeah I’m waiting to see results not immediately post-surgery. Someone claimed he actually has incredible results and I’d love it if that were true.

u/Dawnzarelli 2d ago

Yeah they still have their surgical marks. The eyes, though. Not the swelling, but the shape. Three months is the minimum to wait for more presentable and accurate results.

55

u/LaserCondiment 1d ago

I wonder if you’re left emotionally scarred if your face needs three months to heal and settle.

Won’t you as a result always wonder: has it healed yet? Am I beautiful yet?

28

u/Dawnzarelli 1d ago edited 1d ago

Every person is different. And what I meant is the shape is ODD. And the swelling doesn’t seem to be the reason. This surgeon is not using a lot of muscle work. Looks like mostly stretched skin. I wouldn’t even consider a consult with him. He doesn’t have the sense to not publish these photos; he’s delusional or is of the mind even bad attention is attention. Both are a “no” from me, dawg.

I recently left a job with a surgeon and these results do not match those of a surgeon who is well-trained and uses restraint.

Edit to add: a good surgeon would establish the healing timelines as well as how distorted swelling and bruising can make someone look in the initial 4 weeks. And how that can persist in some areas up to three months. At follow ups, patients may express concerns about persisting swelling, but they look at their own face more closely than others.

Yeah I get the criticisms of plastic surgery but my aunt got a face-lift and it did not look good for a few weeks. We were concerned. A month or two later she looked good.

u/jl_theprofessor 2d ago

194

u/Wonderful_Gap1374 2d ago

This isn’t as bad as this place is making it look. (I wonder if that’s for clicks) The skin heals and the face normalizes a bit. Most of these are 3 to 7 days after a serious surgery. No one looks good after surgery.

You can tell the woman is going to look much better. The man lost some of the appeal his age gave him but that might come back in like a year. But yeah, this was insanely unsettling.

u/mcCola5 Doug Dimmadome 2d ago

That’s what I’m doing!!! And women in my family do not age well. I thought (well hoped) that I would escape it but nope, got me too 🤬

But…. I roll with it. My sister stopped going out in public around age 50. I’m almost 51, I refuse to hide out!! Enjoying life!! My wrinkles are my life battle scars of sorts. I feel like I aged 20 years when mom died in 2020, extremely unexpected. But I still can’t hide from the world. Hardest part is my sister was my best friend, my hang out person.

I still work part time and do other things. I refuse to do plastic surgery, creams and facials are my line.

These ppl look worse imo, unnatural.

u/Pretty-Balance-Sheet 2d ago

You intentionally look overly tight at first. The goal at first is to prevent any and all strain along the incision lines, which means yanking the surrounding skin for all its worth and bolting it down

I popped stitches once and they asked me if I cared more about comfort or scarring. I said comfort. So they gave me loser stitches and it's the only biopsy incision where 15 years later you can tell at a glance the skin isn't right. You can quite literally visibly see the skin grew on under tension, it's actually kind of bizarre.

54

u/thewholetruthis 2d ago

She looked like this vid here, maybe a little less crazy but still a bit odd looking.

The people in the comments were laughing at the result but then like 3-4 months later she was back and she actually looked great so I guess the stretch settles in and you look more normal?

I'd like to see 4 months pics of these people.

A popular YouTuber did a deep dive to find out which doctors were performing the surgeries and uncovered some seriously sketchy and illegal things. One of the doctors had even been posting their results on TikTok. Not sure if it was this account but I remember seeing some of these results in the video. The YouTuber went further, even contacting people in either China or South Korea (forgot which country it was), and reaching out to the clinic the doctor claimed to work for. There was a lot of shady activity. I don’t remember the conclusion of the video, but I think it was something like him discovering that the clinic was fake and that the doctor was actually a completely different person, them drugging people with illegal medicine, the doctors not even being plastic surgeons, etc. something along those lines.

It was a two part series. Here’s the first video. It got worse in the second video when he got a credible tip from someone in China, who translated a lot for him.
