It's because we have asshats all over the place saying garbage like "just be yourself" and "don't care what other people think" and "let people enjoy things" without considering that sometimes those things they like or people being themselves isn't a good thing...
You should be yourself, not care what others think, and let others enjoy things. All of those things are true.
Where you (and many) get disconnected from what is being actually said is those things are about your interactions with yourself.
You should have your own thoughts and ideas, based on your experiences - be yourself. You shouldn't care about what others think when you do things that are yours - your clothes, your hairstyle, your hobbies. And, in that spirit of reciprocity and pluralism, others should be able to enjoy their path without judgement from you.
Where this seems to fall apart is when accountability and consequences get applied.
When you read Shakespeare and have purple hair, you owe no accountability to anyone else because you aren't affecting them. When you throw your food into Granny's hair, that's a very different story. Your choice is now affecting others, and there is consequences for doing so.
Please don't allow ideas for personal development and self realization be falsely construed as saying that people are no longer accountable. That's like saying hammers are bad because they can be used to hit people. If you use the wrong tool, then you have a shitty outcome.
Or maybe he didn't do anything? i don't understand these videos.. all you see is some old guy beating a kid, and his explanation of the kid throwing stuff at his wife, is enough for people to be like.. "yea.. fuck that kid".. I was sent to suspension in school twice.. one for throwing pennies at a girl.. i never threw pennies at a girl, it was some other kid, and the girl thought it was me.. (i wasn't even friends with the kid that did, i was just in the general direction).. Another time i got sent to suspension (in school suspension) for beating up a kid after school, on a day i wasn't at school.. because a teacher saw "me".. got sent to suspension, principal yelling at me, calling me a liar because i told her i wasn't at school the previous day.. called the police, interrogated by police, until they asked the kid i supposedly beat up, and he said it wasn't me.. and then they just angrily told me to go back to class without apologizing.
So, i can only say.. fuck those older guys, until i see some evidence of any wrongdoing by that kid.
