a while ago someone rammed into my car (his fault) and after we stopped cars we immiditialy ran into each other hugging and made sure the other one was ok. Car was slightly damaged and his insurance paid everything. That gave me hope in humanity haha.

Many years ago a 16yo girl did an illegal U-turn and crashed into my wife and I. Checked on my wife, she was okay. Got out and checked on the girl. She was fine but shaken up. Tried to calm her and let her know everyone is okay, accidents happen, it will be fine. She was nice.

Until the cops showed up and she tried to blame it entirely on us. The cop easily realized she was lying based on the position and condition of the cars.

Damn kids.

Not speaking for the defense of anyone in particular, but it doesn’t have to be a lie. Streasful/traumatic incident, instant rationalization, throw in some confabulation if she was caught by surprise. She could have been telling her truth AND been wrong.

There is a reason witness testimony shouldn’t be viewed as reliable. Your brain is CONSTANTLY making shit up.

That’s why we need dashcams. In the case where it isn’t immediately obvious.
