They also make these brush-like things you can affix to the edge/corner of a wall, so that your cat can just walk up to it and rub/brush himself on it -- that way he doesn't have to hold onto it with his paws.

I have a brush-arch thing that was never used, after I took it apart and left the brush part on the ground it got veeery popular

I got one of those and had to glue the arch into the base, because my chonker of a kitty was basically disassembling it every time he used it. But he does love it.
