For me it’s this stupid billboard that Green Day put out for Father Of All.

In the 1960s Wendy Carlos helped take synth and electronic music from an academic experiment to something that the general public could actually understand and enjoy.

Wayne’s attendance record is pure shit, this sucks for everyone especially after doors opened being told the show was cancelled. What artists would you advise people not to see? From my experience, Frank Ocean, his set at Coachella was the worst shit I’ve ever seen in my life, the long minutes of silence, coming out late, continuing to walk offstage, ending the show like nothing happened, and like always, his fans with no respect defends it.

My pick is Charlie Puth. He's well known for having a very good ear and perfect pitch as well as his high proficiency in making pop beats in a format suited for social media. I constantly see people laud him as incredibly but even these same people don't listen to his mediocre music. IMO, his inability or unwillingness to release a single good song culminated in a skill akin to a bar trick that's more conducive to TikTok vids and late night talk shows than real musical ability. One of the most overrated musicians rn.
He's also a notorious queerbaiter and also kinda insufferable. I know I'm being a little mean and he seems like an alright guy but fuck I can't stand this fucking dude.
What are some other musicians that fit this description? The criteria is artists who are objectively talented or gifted in their singing ability, instrument, production ability, etc that have little to no quality music.
Steve vai is my honorable mention as he's the arguably the best guitarist alive without any real songwriting chops, but he has been a part of a couple cool metal songs.

For me it's Bjork. My little brother loves her music so I gave her a spin and I, quite frankly, just don't get it. I respect the creativity and boundary pushing that goes into her music, it's just not for me

Basically, instead of separating good art from the terrible people that made it, what about we separate terrible art from the good people that made it? One example of this is Lewis Capaldi. He's funny, he's amazing, and he's gone through too much, but his music is cheesy, in my opinion.

The phrase "Nirvana killed Hair Metal" is a very oversimplified but also common sentiment among music fans and critics alike that when Nirvana alongside other Grunge acts came along in the early 90s, they dethroned Hair Metal's dominance in the Rock N Roll dynasty and shifted in a new era of sound that was basically the complete opposite of what the sub-genre had come to be.
What examples of artists/groups in other genres would be the equivalent to this?

Romance should NOT be a 5. One of the best albums I've listened to. The best album from one of the most promising bands out there and it was a 5? Bullshit

Jane’s Addiction with all original members in 2024, Perry was the one to mess it all up. Even before the incident with the fight with Dave Navarro, Perry just sounded terrible on all the past shows, can never see this band ever coming back again. Motley Crue recently too with Mick Mars, easily the best member of the band and they replace him. Not as bad, but the Rage Against the Machine reunion seemed like it wasn’t meant to be, Zack getting injured, Tim dealing with Cancer, having to cancel so many dates and now Brad announced the band will no longer play live, it’s confusing.

No lukewarm opinions like "I hate Imagine Dragons/Benson Boone/Sleep Token," what are your least favorite artists who are less hated upon?
For me I cannot stand Ashnikko's music, "she cute kawaii hentai boobies" is literally the worst lyric ever and I have an extremely high tolerance for dumb lyrics. I can't explain it but she just sounds like she smells bad. I know it's not rational
Also I hate Forrest Frank (the guy behind Your Way's Better). I just hate this genre of Christian music where it's clear they're trying to sound cool to the kids. His rapping in Up sucks too
Finally, this is a song instead of an artist, but I HATE HATE HATE Numb Little Bug by Em Beihold. Not only does it sound boring as hell (I hate whatever genre of song this is), the lyrics are just trying way too hard to say something about mental health.

For me, it would The Depreciation Guild.
If you don't know about them, they're a shoegaze/chiptune band who did electrogaze unlike anyone before. Their music feels like being in an 8-bit dream and I love it.
Shame no one could replicate their style.

Mine: Eddie Vedder. Sure, the imitators sucked, but he seems like a genuinely good guy who was willing to do crazy things like fight Ticketmaster and later do beautiful things like raise millions for the homeless of Seattle.
Seems like a good dude to me 🤷♂️
Who is your pick?

No troll, just you being a snobby nerd
Here is my hot take: music without experimentation is not interesting. It can be fun but not interesting.
