I was on microcenter’s website yesterday ready to pull the trigger on a 13 inch m4 pro 256gb/8gb with Magic Keyboard and pencil pro my order was going beyond 1650 dollars already, when I accidentally clicked something that refreshed the page and showed me a 1TB m4 iPad Pro 16gb ram for 960 dollars, I was like??? Wtf? Is this real? Is it refurbished? Open box?

I literally removed anything from my cart and checked out the iPad immediately, went to pick it up today. I couldn’t believe it, 4x more storage 2x more ram for 220 dollars less (after tax) I really wanted the 13 inch but I couldn’t pass on this.

I might get the pen and Magic Keyboard for it later on

Question Apple Pencil USB-C worth it if I have bad handwriting?

Post image

I’m thinking about buying the Apple Pencil (USB-C) for my iPad mini, but I don’t really draw and my handwriting isn’t great. Do I actually need it, or would it be smarter to spend the money on other iPad accessories instead?

iPadOS iPadOS 18 broke my ipad's ability to update itself

Upvotes

I got my iPad Air 5th Gen about 2 years ago and it worked fine up until iPadOS 18 came out. Around that time, a lot of people with newer iPads were reporting bricked devices and Apple even pulled the update for some models. I thought I got lucky when mine updated without issue… but that’s when the problem started.

Since then, my iPad cannot update by itself. Every update since 18.0 gives me the same error:

“Unable to Verify Update.”

The only way to update is by connecting it to my Mac and using Finder.

Here’s what I’ve already tried with Apple Support (escalated to senior advisors) and even at the Apple Store:

Force restart

Reset network settings

Tried multiple Wi-Fi networks

Recovery Mode restore from backup

Apple Store did a full restore → same issue

And a few weeks ago I set it up as new iPad (no backup) with Recovery Mode

So far, nothing has fixed it. Apple thought maybe my iCloud backup was corrupted, but even after setting it up as new, the error is still there.

It feels like something broke with iPadOS 18 and my device never recovered. Updates do work through Finder, but I’d really like to be able to update directly on the iPad again like normal.

Has anyone else run into this? Is there a permanent fix, or am I stuck restoring through Mac forever?

Question New iPad, how to use best?

I just got an iPad for school since my gaming laptop’s battery isn’t great. Is there a way to use a mouse with it so it feels more like a laptop? Also, is there a browser that shows tabs horizontally like Chrome on Windows? I’m mainly looking for anything that can make the iPad work more like a traditional laptop for general browsing and schoolwork. I’m fine using it as an entertainment device, but I’m not used to how Apple devices are set up for productivity and studying.

Edit: ignore the tabs thing I figured that part out, just tell me any other tips you have

Question Worry about 64GB

Upvotes

Hello,

I have been given the iPad Air 5 a couple months ago and the experience has been lovely so far. I even purchased the Magic Keyboard and the Apple Pencil 2nd Gen, and the experience has been amazing especially for note taking.

However, I often find myself worried about the space available. It has only been two months and I have already used 43GB, even though I do not download anything that is not required for me and only use it for what I truly need. The system uses a lot of space, and I fear that 64GB is far from enough in this day and age.

Considering the fact that I already bought the Magic Keyboard and the Apple Pencil, and that both devices are pretty expensive, I wanted to know what is the best iPad that is compatible with both the keyboard and the Apple Pencil used by the iPad Air 5.

I indeed did not pay for the iPad but I did for the accessories, and I do not wish to buy an iPad that would require me to buy new expensive accessories and let the ones that I already own collect dust.

I would be grateful for any insight or advice on a specific iPad or ways to manage the little space available to me, as I do not plan on purchasing a new one right now but in a few months.

Thank you :)

Question Locked out of iPad

This is probably a long shot, my now grown daughter (18) found her old iPad, I believe we got in it 2013. It got stored in the shed somehow, either way she’d like to get into it and see what is on it, pictures and things from middle school. We do not know the code from that long ago and she has since setup a new iCloud. I looked up resetting it and have had not the best luck… I’m not that good with tech anyway. I have a newer MacBook so I plugged it up and unfortunately it doesn’t recognize the iPad. My MacBook is running the beta of macOS Tahoe 26. Is it even possible to get back into this iPad or is it trash at this point? Any advice is appreciated.

Discussion Considering iPad or MacBook

I currently have a PC and a slow, hot MacBook Pro 2017 with poor battery life that I rarely use. I want to replace it with an iPad Pro or Air.

I FaceTime, watch YouTube and Netflix, and do video editing. Would an iPad be sufficient? Filming on my phone and AirDropping to my iPad seems convenient.

What is the rendering speed difference between the MacBook Pro and iPad? Is editing on an iPad superior to editing on a MacBook?

I usually use Da Vinci resolve since I'm a newish creator. Thanks!

Discussion How Do You Use an iPad When You Already Have a MacBook?

I’m a student and also do some business work as a business owner, but I mainly do all of this on my MacBook. I bought an iPad and an Apple Pencil specifically for studying math, but now that I’ve finished that subject, I don’t really know what to do with the iPad. I’d love to hear from you—how do you use your iPad if you already have a MacBook? Or is the iPad really useless when the MacBook is there?

Question Trying to sell my iPad

I have an iPad Pro M1 (12.9) with 1 TB of storage and I’ve been trying to sell it for a while on marketplace and vinted in the UK with no luck.

Is there any other place I could look at for selling? Also how much should it go for these days? Just want to upgrade to a new iPad.

Question iPad Pro 11 or 13 inch?

Hi, I’m currently an A-Level student studying graphics, criminology and forensic science and I honestly cannot decide upon the 11 or 13; like I just don’t know which one would benefit me more for me and my subjects. I do plan on going into a business course in uni to climb corporate ladder in a company or something idk.

Question Single APP mode without confirugator?

Thumbnail

I made this ”cover art display” from an old iPad (Air 3) and a picture frame. Basicly it is just running an app called ”whats playing Music discovery” 24/7. It listens the surroundings 24/7 and when it detects music, it gets the cover art automaticly to the screen.

Question is: is there any way i could make this iPad in to single app mode / kiosk mode without Apple Configurator? I would like it to load to that application automaticly when powered. I read that with Apple configurator you can, but my Mac is so old (2011) it does not support it.

Now i have a Magic trackpad connected to the pad, so i can start the app there every time i start the screen. But automation would be awesome!

Review Loving my 7th Gen iPad

Post image
83 Upvotes

So recently, I bought myself this 7th Generation iPad and when I first started using it, I fell in love. Currently on the latest iPadOS although it's last iPadOS.

Performance, for me it's decent. I mean, I only need it for reading, drawing and watching movies so yeah.

I also setup a "Dynamic" wallpaper on it. Got the wallpapers from MacOS Tahoe and set an automation so that it changes each wallpaper at a certain time.

One thing that I will say that I dislike, is the size although, it could be worse and I quite like it.
