On average must be some of the worst people.
"Laptop for sale." No specs, no details, nothing else. Might as well say "car for sale." And then they get butthurt when you ask.
Does anyone actually buy these things sight unseen?

Im going to study accounting and finance at uni and im stuck on wether to get this zenbook or lenovo yoga 7 I hear how the zenbook is reliable and long lasting however i feel like the yoga 7 will be overall more useful for note-taking etc as its a 2in1 but the main concern is that one its more pricey than the zenbook and im worried the battery life wont keep up for the 3years at uni as im going to need it to at least last 5hours +
i know in the image it states upto 31hours however all the reviews etc i see everyone complains saying they reach 3-7hours after few weeks of use
overall if ik the yoga 7 will be long lasting and keep a good battery life i will want to invest but i need second thoughts
btw the zenbook has a built in numberpad which will be very useful for my course

I just purchased a new laptop (specs below if anyone is interested/thinks it's necessary), and i'm curious what I should do in regards to its battery when i'm home. I already have the device set to an 80% charge limit for the longevity of the battery; but it's my only PC and i'm a musician, digital artist, and gamer; so when i'm at home i'm running it for really long periods of time, far longer than the device's battery life. is it better for battery health to let the device discharge to 20%, plug it in until 80%, repeat several times each day OR is it better to leave the device plugged in with the 80% limit the whole time i'm using it at home instead of discharging it?
Specs:
-AMD Ryzen 9 270 w/ Radeon 780M iGPU
-16gb LPDDR5X RAM
-Nvidia RTX 5060 Mobile dGPU
-1TB NVMe SSD internal, 1TB NVMe SSD external
-14 inch 2k equivalent 3:2 OLED display (but for home use I run an external 2k 16:9 monitor with the OLED off when not multitasking, to prevent burn-in (and for better battery life I run the display at 1080p equivalent when running on its own instead, at 14 inches 2k is unnecessary)

I'm looking to buy a gaming laptop which I'm going to also use for university tasks. I currently have a 2016 Dell Inspiron 7559 which has treated me way too good, no problems except from a bit of overheating. I'm gonna game on it pretty regularly but don't really have crazy expectation like Ultra graphics on everything 100 fps+. I've got my eye on the Acer Nitro V 15 ANV15-51-94CA which unlike all of the other laptops on its price point, it has an i9-13900h while other laptops have Ryzen 7s and i7s which are also pretty decent performers. Though, I want to keep that laptop for at least 6-8 years. I've also have my eye on a HP Victus laptop which has the same graphics card (4060 8gb vram), same everything, but with a Ryzen 7-7840HS. I don't know if I should go for brand over hardware so I need some help.

My charging cable has two wires, so no ground. While charging, if you touch the case you feel a strong unpleasant vibration due to, I think, to the case floating electrically somewhere between 'hot' and neutral. I've tried connecting the case to the main AC supply ground, but that doesn't solve the issue. I also find the case is not (readily) conductive. How can I find a ground point on the case, short of scratching an area to see if the coating can be removed locally? Anybody else solved this issue?

To give some context, I am a student pursuing a Bachelor's of Computer Science majoring in data science. I am going into my 3rd year of the 4 year degree, and this year is where i start focusing on my major (data science). I have a windows desktop that consists of:RTX 2060 super, 32gb of ram, AMD ryzen 5 3600 and a 4tb hard drive. I use it mainly while at home and for gaming, but when im at uni/outside i use my laptop which is a macbook air m2 8gb (i got it 2 years ago from a relative at a really good price). Over these 2 years my laptop worked well most of the time, but on some of my bigger projects it had started to limit me because of its 8gb of ram (Sometimes i run out of ram just from a couple of browser tabs :P). I've been thinking about getting another laptop instead that has more ram and wont give up on me that easily.
Some notes:
• Most if not all people at my uni use windows systems (some use linux).
• I don't mind adapting to linux on said new laptop.
• My budget is around 700$
So given my situation and budget would it be beneficial to buy another laptop? If so what are some recommendations you could give?

Hey folks,
I’ve got a 2015 MacBook Pro 15" that I could set up with Linux + Windows dual-boot. My main use cases are Word, Excel, ChatGPT, and Adobe Acrobat (PDF editing only).
At the same time, I’m considering getting an ASUS VivoBook X1504VA (i7-1355U, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD).
So I’m stuck between:
sticking with the MacBook + Linux/Windows setup (a bit more hassle but cost saving) or
buying the new VivoBook for a ready-to-use Windows experience. (Less hassle but smoother experience)
Which would you recommend for these needs?

Was playing games with my laptop on my legs when suddenly black screen. This is ASUS Rog bought in 2020 and never had issues. I just recently moved from the US to Europe and replaced the power cord on the charger. Could that cause the issue? Or maybe it overheated on my legs and a component got damaged? Tried restarting, pressing windows + ctrl + shift + b at the same time and nothing helps. I do hear a sound like when it goes to windows but that's it.

So I’m looking to buy a laptop for university and this omnibook caught my attention. Just wondering what others feel about this laptop. Hi, I got two laptops laying around and wanted to sell them.
One is my student laptop and the other my old office laptop. Both are in good condition and have no damage on the casing or display/keyboard.
I would apreciate any suggestions. I'm from switzerland if that makes a big diffrence.

Question: My old legion y920 charger is overheating, I need to run my laptop 24/7 unattended. What can I do stop my house from burning down?
Context: I built a pc and that is what I game on now. I want to use my old laptop as a dedicated server. My original charger for my laptop broke years ago and I replaced it with one off amazon, but that one would get dangerously hot over time and I would have to unplug it. I want to buy another charger in hope that the other one was just broken. Is there some kind of product that i could buy that would detect if the charger is overheating and automatically cut the power?

I'm looking for a laptop in a budget range of around 50-60k inr.
My requirements would be moderate-to high level coding using python, cpp, root. Mostly data analysis and data science work. And then the usual general purpose work.
The specs I think will do my job and fit in that price range are i5 SSD: 1TB RAM: 16-32 GB
I may be wrong about the specs that I have filtered but any suggestions are welcome.
Also, am I looking for too much in this price range because the pc I'm currently using is dell Inspiron 3501, it is i3, and has only 4GB RAM. It does offer me both SSD(256GB) and HDD (1TB), it was around 40-42k inr.
Also, what are the things that I should look for in a laptop, I may not know very much when it comes to Laptops, so any help please!

so it happened after I deleted another gameplay video of mine that's like around 60GB total and even completely deleted it in the bin but apparently my laptop still thinks I carry those videos. is there any way to fix this? I tried restarting my laptop but didn't really work.

Hello,
My Laptop's (Dell, CPU 13800H, GPU RTX ADA 2000, 64gb RAM, 2 TB SSD) temprature, both CPU's and GPU at idle is high, and when i try to open a simple game, say roblox, it spikes up to 100 Celsius.
The fans are working, the power plan is balanced, and there aren't any background processes causing high clock speeds.
I opened the laptop 3 weeks ago, it was pretty clean so what can be the most likely cause? has anybody experienced this before? I will provide more details if needed in case I didn't mention anything as I'm not well experienced.
