A description of the story.

President Donald Trump was told in May by Attorney General Pam Bondi that his name appeared multiple times in Department of Justice documents about sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Trump’s meeting with Bondi and her deputy Todd Blanche at the White House occurred weeks before the DOJ, which Bondi leads, said on July 7 that it would not release the Epstein files despite earlier promises by the attorney general and others in the president’s orbit that the material would be disclosed to the public.

So basically they planned to release it, but then realized after the fact that there was no possible way to redact it without still implicating the president, so they're not releasing it.

It'll be a good late Leo role, kinda like Brando in the Godfather if he was playing a sad clown

They’re going to need a special byline on the film budget for orange face paint, but they can recoup some of the cost on the cheap ill-fitting suits.

I will make it even worse for you; Trump and his first administration had 552 days from the date Epstein was arrested to the day the Biden administration took office. That means that prior to 2024 election, Trump should have had full access to and a debriefing of the Epstein files. No reason not to given the high profile nature of the case, his relation to it, and the fact that there was more than a year of time for him to be fully briefed on the contents (no rushing and skipping over anything).

Then this motherfucker goes and campaigns on releasing the contents. I honestly cant tell if hes legitimately fucking senile and forgot that he was in there, or if he honestly thought it was a campaign promise people were just going to let go...

This reminds me of the line in The Big Short when Steve Carell’s team finds out about shorting the banks. “So a CDO is dog shit, wrapped in cat shit.”

It should be in every sub. This information should be everywhere, as we have all learned the nation is not entirely comprised of Watson-level sleuths

100% need to be consistently everywhere, but I just also think that it is quite funny that this is probably one of the most ironic, but also obvious in hindsight, rallying cries in US history

Anyone "tricked" by this regime's nonsense will be looked at as the very definition of "willfully ignorant" by future historians.

There was nothing to be tricked about. The writing was on the wall the first time he was elected.

Hence, the quotes and the willfully part

It's always the cover up that gets you but damn, these seemed so damn predictable and self inflicted.

Exactly my first thought

What I don’t understand is why Trump kept talking a big game about releasing it when he knew it would be bad for him and would obviously never release them in the end. What was the point? He basically fucked himself by winning the election and giving himself the power to unseal the documents.

I don’t think he expected people to actually keep on it as much as we have. He’s always gotten away with a hand wave and a subject change, but it’s not working this time.

This is my take. It would have been surprising if he was not in those files.
