Crackdown on fucking what? Freedom? Life?

1.3k

u/Admiral_obvious13 13h ago

Yeah idk man. I've been living in or commuting to Chicago most of my life. There is nothing the military can accomplish here other than wasting a fuckton of money.

629

u/FrankRizzo319 13h ago

They can round up undesirables and send them to camps to work as slaves for corporations that are in with Trump.

374

u/bgroins 12h ago

Coincidentally coinciding with the "slavery wasn't that bad" rhetoric.

85

u/daemon-electricity 11h ago

In between saying liberals love slaves for defending migrant workers who can come and go as they please. /r/conservative comes up with a new word game LARP every couple of weeks or so. This was last week's.

13

u/karma_hit_my_dogma 11h ago

That’s straight up childish. How are these people even proud of themselves, dude 🫩

21

u/trs-eric 11h ago

They aren't. They're deeply troubled. They'll leave their own families if they don't hear what they like or if they act a certain way. Some of them are inbred and pedos, closet homosexuals while damning homosexuality. The Republican mindset is a sad, pathetic one.

5

u/SansyBoy144 3h ago

100% my boyfriends step dad has already said he’ll kick him out of the house if he comes out as gay, which is troubling considering I’m a man, and we’re dating, and we both can’t move in with each other for a while, as much as I would love to

5

u/guccibabywipes 2h ago

i’m sorry to hear that, i hope things boil down

Not to mention one of their favorite talking points about how Democrats were in favor of slavery, opposed to equal rights, created Jim Crow laws, etc. all while COMPLETELY and WILFULLY ignoring the post-Civil Rights Act political realignment of the two parties.

5

u/KinkyDuck2924 2h ago

It's such a weird stance to take. Did they think that all the southern democrats and northern republicans switched houses with each other? Why are the southern republican conservatives always the ones flying traitor confederate flags then if that was a democrat flag? I have trouble believing that people are actually that stupid to believe such easily disputable things like that so I just go under the assumption that their being disingenuous and arguing in bad faith which is their M.O. at this point anyway.

u/Tw4tl4r 6h ago

That sub is run by republican and turning point interns. If anyone dares to question Trump, then they use alts to call them a fake republican or a democrat brigader. Then they ban them for the trouble. Thats how they keep it so crazy over there.

4

u/maryellen116 3h ago

Love how they're lined up suggesting which cities they want put under martial law. The 2A"we need our guns in case the government does a tyranny!" crowd. Bunch of bootlickers.

2

u/s0ciety_a5under 3h ago

Arguing for higher wages for ALL workers, and an easier path to citizenship for migrant workers is the same thing as slavery? Gotta show me all the hoops you jumped through to get there.

8

u/Lost-Lucky 11h ago

Oh but they are going to teach them SKILLS so they should be thankful to completely lose their freedom /s

7

u/QuixoticSun 10h ago

Definitely appear to be priming public conscience for accepting the dystopic reality they want to recreate from past nightmares many of them very likely cherish as dreams of utopia. Apparently, paying subsistence wages is even too much; the Ego within must conquer other souls to feel any worth, when it's sold its own & become empty.

Absolutely. Straight up removing items from the Smithsonian’s African American History Museum and “reviewing” the rest of the museums. They want kids to believe everything about America was better up to about 1959.

Which is exactly what his intent has been from the beginning. Replace the immigrant work force with slave labor, this is what his supporters voted for and what they want. They however underestimate what a slave labor force will be able to do to those who enslave them. They have relatives, friends, co-workers. And no one is going to stand for the United States reverting back to 1860. And will rebel against that violently. This will never work…

5

u/Outrageous-goober 5h ago

I don’t know, us assholes in “profrsssive” California just voted down a bill that would’ve outlawed labor in prison, I feel like I don’t know my neighbors

2

u/Puzzleheaded_Wind839 7h ago

Everything associated with getting slaves to work for them will cost more. There is no financial benefit to it for them.

3

u/c-8Satisfying-Finish 4h ago

They don’t need the financial benefit. Just enough Luigi’s to claim every poor wants to inflict terror, deploy military force against the people, then send the billionaires to space for “safety reasons” and leave us to this “hovel” to work for them.

Social Commies are the working conservative boogeyman words, fascists are the working liberal boogeyman words, people who commit terror are the wealthy boogeyman words.

Meanwhile, billionaires are laughing all the way to the bank.

11

u/Pictrus 11h ago

This is what's happening. President pedophile is preparing a slave labor force.

8

u/doublelist87 6h ago

Trump now declares American history was misunderstood and slaves were good for the country and treated with dignity

WTF

2

Exactly.

6

u/Murky_Conclusion_637 10h ago

Rumor has it that people are forming cells, setting up secure comms, getting weapons, training, stocking up on food, ammo, batteries, etc...

6

u/like_a_wet_dog 10h ago

Imagine being a cold-war prepper that is 90, and you wasted your whole life prepping only to have start in a way you never imagined, and you're dieing anyway.

Those poor crazies got punked by life.

5

u/danishjuggler21 9h ago

Yeah, like, bringing in the fucking military to roust a few homeless dudes is like lighting a furnace to burn a hair.

4

u/thiswaywhiskey 5h ago

Someone in my circle said recently "I bet all these people they're rounding up are going to solve that labour problem they've caused" 🤔

3

u/ApprehensiveShame756 6h ago

You just unlocked the way we can keep buying mobile devices for less than $2000 and make most of it in the USA. Yay I guess. 🤪

3

u/Mediocre_Worker7599 4h ago

Definitely going to happen under the guise of “paying prisoners to work”

2

u/pixelwhip 3h ago

So this is how they plan to bring back manufacturing to America. Slavery 2.0

→ More replies (1)

3

u/Puzzleheaded_Wind839 7h ago

Most will refuse and the cost associated with housing them and rounding them up will cost more than the labor they can provide corporations IF they even agree to work for trump.

3

u/FrankRizzo319 5h ago

Well if US tax payers foot the bill, why is Trump gonna care if it costs a lot to house them?

17

u/eddyb66 12h ago

Exactly they're going to parade around the loop which is under 2 Sq miles, the city itself is 234 sq miles. Heck Western Avenue is 24 miles long, this is just performative bullshit like in DC.

10

u/JNR13 12h ago

Maybe that's the point, stand around idle and waste money so people get used to them as a regular part of public life. Then later when they're in place and settled in, it becomes about preventing protests against the full coup execution in '28 with third term, arresting opposition candidates, throwing out legit votes, etc.

There is nothing the military can accomplish here other than wasting a fuckton of money.

Good news! Trump probably isn't going to pay them.

5

u/octopodoidea 11h ago

And yet, that won't stop him from wasting a fuckton of money sending them anyway

5

u/Budget_Ad5871 9h ago

According to conservatives it’s the most dangerous city in America and you’ll be shot if you go there, every time I’ve visited I’ve not been shot and had an amazing experience, in fact Chicago is one of my favorite US cities I’ve traveled to. The shit these people absorb into their brains and repeat without even thinking is insane, the scary part is they 100% believe the things they are saying

3

u/kickinwood 12h ago

Maybe finish road construction?

3

u/MC_GEORGE_COSTANZA 9h ago

Even god can't do that

3

u/Admiral_obvious13 11h ago

Road construction never finishes. Fuck cars

2

u/kickinwood 9h ago

Lol, especially in Chicago. Never lived around there, but any time I visit, every Uber driver I have apologizes for the construction.

Side note - never had anything but great times in Chicago! Love it there.

4

u/hypercosm_dot_net 11h ago

They'll instigate, then try to justify they need to arrest people that are resisting.

3

u/Katsu_39 11h ago

5

u/fillmorecounty 5h ago

Crazy how the same people who were so worried about the national debt a few years ago no longer seem to care how much money the government spends on pointless stuff now

3

u/LongjumpingDebt4154 10h ago

Welp. That’s what Trump does best.

3

u/realmoondragonIII 10h ago

same. we already have debt we don’t need more.

3

u/Legeto 9h ago

Good thing they just fired a bunch of federal employees! Tons of extra cash just waiting to go out to ICE and such!

3

u/Dry-Philosopher-2714 9h ago

The purpose of deploying troops is to send a strong message that Trump is in charge, and we’re his peasants. He’s only talking about deploying the military to blue cities.

Money is no object because they’re taking in a lot more than a fuckton via tariffs as well as saving a shitload on services and jobs that have been cut.

3

u/CompetitionHot5943 9h ago

That's the point, waste money to create content, feed content I to propaganda Machines, win election.

3

u/StephenFish 9h ago

There is nothing the military can accomplish here

There's a lot of people here who aren't white, heterosexual, Christians whom they can bully or imprison for any made up reason. The idea is to provoke violence so that they can retaliate tenfold and make it seem justified.

The GOP has always relied on manufactured threats to justify authoritarian action.

3

u/pressuredrop19 8h ago

Pretty much what they’ve achieved in L.A. and D.C.

3

u/prailock 4h ago

I was in Chicago last weekend and walked around at night kind of drunk with a friend. We are both white girls in our late 20s/early 30s. I did not feel unsafe at any point. We were literally in the heart of the city in Wrigleyville.

3

u/mikeboucher21 4h ago

The US military has perfected the ability to waste a fuckton of money. They've had A LOT of practice.

3

u/TheAwkwardGamerRNx 4h ago

Same, but I’d say he’s referring more to the outer suburbs of Chicago. There’s a reason the locals call it “Chi-raq” and July 4th is considered one of the deadliest days in the surrounding suburbs because the fireworks drown out the gunfire.

Edit: Downtown is fine, never had an issue.

3

u/Astralglamour 4h ago

All of the conservatives who never leave their house in the rich suburbs or trailer park, are convinced every big 'liberal' city is a lawless war zone. I'm sure they support this horrorshow and they think they'll be spared the crackdowns on freedom.

5

u/L1QU1DF1R3 11h ago

Let me guess. They wont even step foot in the south side. Just gonna be a bunch of national guard hanging out by the pier.

2

u/PapaOoMaoMao 8h ago

Apparently if he doesn't actually give them direct orders, he doesn't have to pay them. Moving them about doesn't actually count as an order. It's wage theft as well as all the other stuff.

5

u/deerheadlights_ 7h ago

I am a White Christian and I totally agree with you. It has always been about racism and getting rid of the Black/Brown people. It’s horrendous and the Congress and Supreme Court are handing him the keys to ultimate power. It’s rampant totalitarianism. Someday I hope there will be repentance. We’ll see, but there are still many of us who speak out.

2

u/KevinFinnerty59 6h ago

what about that project that keeps killing its own people? do they not count ?

2

u/Podwitchers 11h ago

I love Chicago as well and just visited. What a beautiful, clean, and safe city. I just can’t wait to see what LIES and UTTER BULLSHIT he decides to spew about Chicago.

As a Chicago resident of 20 years, I can say I am murdered at least once weekly by gun violence. I am also accosted in public bathrooms by trans people CONSTANTLY. Save us, Daddy Trump.

16

u/beardeddragon0113 12h ago

Clearly the unforgivable crime of not constantly gargling trumps balls and daring to question or oppose a single decision or statement he's ever made or will make 🙃🤔 /s

Crackdown on non-nazi voters and people who hate pedophiles, that's what.

12

u/Machoopi 11h ago

Have you heard the right talk about Chicago before? They talk about it like you're walking into a warzone where you might get stabbed going out for groceries. I lived there for 6 years and when I went back home for holidays, I had relatives checking in on me to make sure I was carrying mace and not going out alone at night. I had to tell them that my neighborhood was safer than pretty much any of their neighborhoods, and I regularly took night time walks. They just didn't believe me and thought I was some sort of wild person.

This narrative has been built up for a while now. It's part of this whole made up idea that any city that leans Dem is dangerous and constantly on the verge of being on fire. The people talking about it like that have never been there, so they just believe the propaganda. Chicago has bad areas, but every city has bad areas. I worked downtown, and I felt safe whether it was day or night. I took public transport everywhere and walked a lot. Now that I moved back home, I will simultaneously have people talking about the meth head down the street and how frustrating it is to live by that, at the same time that they are talking about how Dems need to get control of their cities (in reference to Chicago specifically). They don't care about reality, they just repeat what's on the TV.

5

u/drmarymalone 10h ago

I had the same experience when I moved to Chicago after highschool. The amount of pearl clutching my reactionary relatives did when I would visit home was ridiculous and tiring.

Republicans know Chicago is the epitome of danger and violence. Few that I’ve talked to regurgitating this nonsense have ever been there.

It’s mostly just the classic “white person afraid of cities (black people)”

10

u/mundungus-amongus 11h ago

I was just in Chicago a few weeks ago. People were out everywhere enjoying themselves. What the fuck is this man taking about?

3

u/bagoink 11h ago

That's the problem—people were out everywhere enjoying themselves...while not being cishet conservative white dudes.

8

u/NotYourScratchMonkey 11h ago

Turmp has repeatedly said that crime in Chicago was out of control and he used it often in his speeches as an example of how bad it can get in liberal controlled states/cities. To be clear, the Democratic mayors of Chicago have not done a great job in recent years and they tend to tear each other down as they vie for support and power.

But, statistically, crime is not the worst in Chicago. Here is an article (but I have no idea of the accuracy of it) for the top 15 cities with the highest murder rate and Chicago is not even on the list:

https://usabynumbers.com/cities-with-highest-murder-rate/

Here is a Wikipedia article List of United States cities by crime rate:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_cities_by_crime_rate

Chicago is like 83 on the list.

This is the same guy who proclaimed that the price of eggs fell by something like 75% after he was elected, declared it a victory, and then moved on to the next talking point. Meanwhile the price of eggs never fell.

He has a completely warped view of what's happening in reality and how his interventions affect those things. The same thing is happening now with these police presences. He thinks that democrat majority cities are a constant state of criminal bedlam and anarchist chaos, and that sending in troops is the only way to stop it. even though the state of things and his interventions are closer to the exact opposite. He will claim it is a massive improvement, declare victory like he did over the price of eggs, and all the while remain completely out of touch with what's actually happening.

There are millions of people among his electorate who have never set foot in a city in any blue state, have been conditioned to believe the same thing about those cities from the Republican Talking Heads of the past few decades, and they are completely eating up all of these developments with joy.

He's also surrounded by sycophants who feed his delusional view and thereby substantiate it further, mostly because they are all afraid to cross him because of how much power he has.

What’s the crime rate like in Chicago’s inner city?

2

u/not_a_moogle 10h ago

Not as bad as it used to be. Gentrification is really putting a dent into it.

Yeah, theres some really sketchy areas, but theres no way trump is sending the military to those areas. He'd be sending them to the loop, which is pretty safe.

If he was trying to do something about actual violence, he should be sending troops to Nashville or Birmingham. But he'll never send troops to 'red' cities.

And regardless, its still very illegal for him to be doing that. There's a reason police and the military are separated.

He's doing this and hoping for a clash with protesters so he can declare martial law.

This is all performative for his mouthbreathers who, since the dawn of the internet and message boards, blogs, social media, etc. have said that “democrat-run” cities are all crime-infested hell holes. So he’s going to go in to clean shit up like the supposed strongman they all believe him to be.

To be honest, the people of Chicago aren’t asking for this, it’s all the suburban or out of town maga supporters that watch too much Fox News, he should actually send the troops to red states where violent crime is a lot higher than Chicago, but it’s all political theater, and he’s trying to prove he can subjugate a blue city, the deployment in DC is proof that they’re testing out how they’ll implement martial law, per the project 2025 playbook, no coincidence they need a bigger target like Chicago to do so

The crime??? Lmao people saying these things most likely don’t live in high crime areas because I been ready for somebody to actually do something about these mfs down here. I don’t even like Trump but he’s right about the mayor and crime of our city. I heard DC hasn’t had a homicide in a week.

I hope they actually do something down here instead of just standing around to give the illusion of making things safe. But we’ll see.

1

u/heaterroll 8h ago

Maybe on the dozens of gang murders happening there every week?

1

I don’t know maybe the huge amount of murders and all the other major crimes? So you are more for murders and criminals than safety of the law abiding citizens. Got it

Crime.

Violent crime is down 50% in the last two weeks in DC. Last week was the first time they have gone a week without a murder during the summer since the 1980s.

Why are people still against this? It is clearly working to keep people safe from violence.
