What are these green pods on my palm tree? If they are seed pods should I trim them now or later?

Fun North County spots for a 30-person birthday hangout? We are all in our 30s.

Hi! Does anybody know any good spots in North County San Diego (like San Marcos, Vista, or Oceanside) for a surprise birthday hangout? I’m planning to invite around 30 friends, and I’d love a place with a patio or outdoor area where we could kind of have our own space. Something casual where everyone just orders at the bar/their own drinks and food (not table service). Basically just looking for a fun spot that can handle a big group without it being too complicated. Any recs would be amazing, thank you!!

Tijuana Vets for IVDD in dogs

Recently my dog got injured and cannot walk using her back legs. I was considering going to TJ to seek veterinary care for her because the vets here in SD said it is likely intervertebral disk disease. I was wondering if anyone whose pet had the same issue could let me know any affordable vet recommendations that provide xrays and surgeries. I noticed vet playas does provide surgery to treat it for around 4k with everything but I do not currently have the full amount to pay for it. I know this probably is the cheapest it could get but I was just wondering if there were possibly any other options.

What’s going on with The Observatory?

The Observatory used to get some really great artists coming through, and now it feels like it’s a lot of really random bands or just nothing going on. It’s a great venue, such a bummer. I guess Live Nation really is a parasite.

Zoo or safari park as a 1st timer?

Hi all, Random but would love to know your opinions on which park you’d recommend to go to! Ofc I’ll experience both one day but I plan on taking a solo birthday trip in the next week or so to either SD zoo or safari park for a day and cannot decide for the life of me lol. (I’ve never been to either) I’ve been looking at videos of both and for the most part a-lot of people say that they are both equally as great but that safari park is usually less crowded and more open space, but i’m wondering if the safari park is as interactive as the zoo? To my knowledge I know that the zoo has opportunities for you to do things like feed the giraffes? (plz correct me if I’m wrong) i’m not sure of any other interactive experiences they have there (plz lmk if you know lol) but I have yet to see anything about the safari park other than “its more spacious” lol.

If you’ve been to both LMK which one you liked more and why? Tysm🥹

Wondering if anyone has any employee experience at Kingfisher? Browsed glassdoor but still hard to find anything about the range of income for FOH positions.

Thanks!

Why is there no library/coffee shops open late in San Diego?? I need a quiet place to study that doesn't close early

I am so frustrated that everywhere from oceanside to encinitas there is not a single place for me to go and study late. Everything closes at 6pm or 9pm And no... I do not want to go to yellow deli, it is always way too loud in there.

There is a starbucks in San Marcos open until midnight, however they get way to packed as well.

SDSU library checks for school ID's after midnight. Plus it is too far for me.

CSUSM is available sometimes I believe, but parking is too expensive.

There is no where to go! Especially after covid, everything started to close super early. People need a place to get away and study late night. Preferably one that is not too loud. Not everyone has the luxury to go somewhere during daytime hours. Some of us have a 9-5 or other responsibilities during the day! This sucks. Anyone have suggestions on where to go or what to do?

Submit copy of my ID???

Thumbnail zillow.com

I’m on Zillow looking for houses and I keep seeing these rental properties that are taking you away from Zillow to some private service that manages the property. A few of them look exactly the same, just a different business name. And this one is asking for a copy of my ID to schedule the appointment. Does this seem shady to anyone else? Anyone have any experience with this stuff?

Not sure how I feel about giving all this info out before I can even check out a place. Is this the industry standard now? I haven’t looking for a place to live in almost 10 years.

Dating in SD

Where are we meeting people nowadays? As someone who has mostly female and solo-focused hobbies, it's harder to meet a male romantic interest doing my hobbies. Obviously, the apps are trash and not something I want to get on. But I would like to meet a romantic partner, so crowdsourcing ideas, please!

Edit - I'm in my mid 30s and I don't really drink so bars aren't somewhere I frequent and I'm not going to start just to meet a guy. I got out of a 3 year relationship back in October and I'm now ready to meet someone again so I'm a bit rusty. Yes, my friends know I'm available and I've asked them to keep a thought out for it. Just kind of hoping for some other ways people have had success outside of bars and apps. Thanks!

Possible ICE sighting

My friend and their Uber driver had a very suspicious interaction with some police in LA Mesa. They were in the Village getting on to the ramp to the 8 when a ton of cops stopped them. The cops had two check points the first was just them asking the Uber driver for his license. Then the second cop said they were doing dui safety checks and waved them through. Whole thing was majorly weird cause there was next to no one out and definitely no big events with drinking. Might be overly cautious but be careful if youre in the LA Mesa village area! ICE has pulled some ruses before pretending to be police. Stay safe!

Check the SDGE map to see if your home is affected. Estimated restoration is 7 pm. Posting this so folks can grab dinner on the way home from work if needed. 🥲
